Why Paul chose Sunderland

My family has lived in Vermont for 8 generations and a relative visited this house 30 years ago when it was a B&B. I looked for a Vermont house for a few years and was fortunate to find this 18th century gem. The house has an interesting history and lots of character. The grounds are lovely and I love the view of Mt. Equinox. I hope you enjoy my home as much as I do.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Great view of Mt. Equinox

Exposed antique wood beams

House has great flow with neat taproom

Large manicured yard - good for kids to run around and play

Private, wooded backyard with large barn

Close to Manchester, Arlington and skiing

Wonderful experience.

  • 4 of 5

This rustic home was perfect for our extended family's stay to attend a wedding. Plenty of room to hang out and it was close to shopping and dining venues. Would love to go back during other seasons and enjoy the beautiful scenery in this area.

It’s all true!

  • 5 of 5

After spending the weekend with 8 adults & a few dogs there’s little I can add to the description of this rental, other than confirming all of the info is true, accurate, and that communication was fast, friendly and efficient. It’s a great house in a beautiful area, with plenty of room and a group-friendly layout. Despite its historic beauty, it kept plenty warm during some early season single-digit nights! We’ll definitely be back!

Owner's Response: Thanks Brian for your great review! I noticed the outside temperature got down to 8 degrees your first night - glad to hear my newly installed furnace kept things toasty. I look forward to having you as a guest again.

Perfect experience

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay in this house. Everything was easy from the initial reservation, to communicating about some specific questions, to check in and check out. The house was perfect for our group-- so good to find a house with so many bedrooms appropriate for adult couples! I only wish we could've stayed a bit longer.

Great ski weekend getaway

  • 4 of 5

We spent the Washington Birthday weekend at this historic home with our three daughter and their families, including two toddlers. If you love old homes, cozy fireplaces and a fantastic view of Mt. Equinox, this is the house for you. Paul had excellent and very detailed directions for the house which was very helpful. He was very responsive to text and email questions. The very large living room proved to be the perfect gathering spot for all of us with the two babies in the middle with various blocks, books and items we brought with us. If you like old books, you could be kept busy for hours thumbing through them and enjoying some old games. The kitchen is not overly large so not too many cooks in the kitchen at one time. Paul had warned us the stairs to the second floor were steep and the wood floor slippery, and he was right. One baby stayed with her parents in the in-law bedroom suite off the back of the house, as that daughter is also pregnant, which worked out great. There had been a 20 inch snowfall a few days before our arrival but the house was all plowed out. Having babies in an old house that is not baby proofed, requires a bit of attention. The road the house is on can be a back way to the ski slopes if you want to avoid the Manchester traffic. It had fantastic views of lovely homes and fresh snow sure helped to give it a postcard look. A little ways down the road, in the opposite direction is a wonderful red covered bridge - Chiselville Bridge. I left my ipad on the bed when we packed up and Paul put me in touch with the property maintenance person. She mailed it right out to me and I was able to send her a check to reimburse her. I was so thankful. The house is large and can accommodate quite a few without bumping into each other. I think the fall would be a beautiful time to stay for some leaf peeping. The beds were made when we got there which was a nice touch.

Owner's Response: Hi Karen - So glad your extended family enjoyed the house, and my cleaning service was able to find your i-Pad and return it promptly. Great to hear you enjoyed my library and got a lot of snow right before you arrived! Yes, the leaf peeping in the fall is gorgeous!

Beautiful home, great location

  • 5 of 5

My coworkers and I enjoyed a long weekend at this wonderful farm house. This place has lots of character. The room layout worked great, the kitchen is set up well, the beds were comfortable and the fireplaces were a nice treat. Driving to Bromley, Magic and Stratton was painless and the town of Manchester was nice to explore.

All arrangements were easy and we look forward to returning some day.

House was great. Perfect for bringing your dog (big yard), playing board games, cooking a big group dinner and congregating around a wood fire.
