Overview

About the property

5 bedroom + basement, 6 bathroom - close to downtown and Churchill Downs

Before booking, please tell us a little bit about your party and what brings you to Louisville.

Welcome to historic ROSEHEIGHTS, custom designed in 1901 by architects D.X Murphy and Brother of Louisville -- the same architects who built the famed Twin Spires at Churchill Downs. Previously owned by the Mayor of Louisville and Lieutenant Governor of Kentucky, this prestigious home has been host to many U.S. political figures such as First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, Presidential Candidate Adali Stevenson and Presidents Truman and Johnson.

House features 5 huge bedrooms, 4 full baths and 2 half baths. All three rooms on the second level (1 king, 2 queens) have private en suite bathrooms, including the master which features a claw-foot tub and separate steam shower. Two bedrooms (1 queen, 2 fulls) on the third floor share a gigantic bathroom. The third floor also features a huge game room complete with pool table and oversize TV. Quiet, bright sun room on the first floor is the perfect location to read the paper and sip coffee every morning. Large newly built private pool in beautifully landscaped backyard complete with Brown Jordan pool furniture and pool house + fireplace (pool is not heated and is open from spring through summer -- usually late April through early September). Top of the line, gourmet appliances throughout the home. Lower level features a half bath, workout room as well as another family room with two single pull-out couches. Completely renovated from top to bottom, this is truly a unique estate.

High quality bed linens and towels adorn each bedroom and bathroom. House is stocked with bottled water and a Keurig coffee maker (coffee pods, cream and sugar included). New York Times and local Louisville paper delivered on Sundays.

Situated on one of the most elite streets in the city, in prestigious Seneca/Cherokee Gardens neighborhood just blocks from restaurants, shops and bars, and just steps from famed Cherokee Park. Easy freeway access, close to downtown and airport and just a short 20 minute drive from Valhalla Golf Course or 15 minutes from Churchill Downs. If you're not familiar with Louisville, this is the 'happening' part of town -- you'll be just blocks away from some of the best restaurants in the city.

**Note: While our house is thoroughly cleaned prior to each visit, we do have a cat (cat will not be present during guest stay)

Rental of Roseheights will be limited to those in your group. There may be a maximum number of people permitted in the house. There may not, at any time, be more than 4 cars parked on the property.

While we love children, children don't always love our house, therefore, we encourage families with children to look at properties that may be more kid-friendly. We may ask that you take additional precaution to avoid anything that may be stained or broken by anyone in your group. We reserve the right to refuse rental to any party. Some groups may be asked to pay an additional cleaning fee or security deposit.

Note about weddings and special events/parties: While we are flattered that you think Roseheights would make a great venue for your wedding, rehearsal dinner, wedding brunch, bridal shower or special event, the property is not set up to accommodate larger parties due to neighborhood and car restrictions. Unfortunately, we are no longer able to rent to groups preparing for weddings due to the number of cars and people on the property.

Check-in -- 2pm

Check-out -- 12pm

Restaurant and "to do" list will be provided upon booking. Guests are also welcome to contact a private chef to cook for them during their stay.

Regarding rates for Derby 2018, the rate is a flat $20,000 -- you may arrive any day during Derby week.

Great house for a big family gathering

  • 5 of 5

We celebrated my daughters graduation with the family here. Amazing grounds for pictures! Lots of bathrooms for each floor. Not a place to rent for handicap....lots of stairs....but perfect for us. Lisa and Kieth were very professional and organized. Thanks!

Lovely Home

  • 5 of 5

The property is an absolutely lovely place, in a location extremely convenient to all of downtown Louisville. We rented the property as a reunion for a group of college friends, and had a fantastic time.

Sorry I took so long to post....I intended to. Lovely home very nice home owners!

  • 5 of 5

I wanted to let people know what a lovely home this is. It is actually a treat to stay here with all of the history this home provides. The decor was wonderful, I loved staying here and even took some ideas home! I hope I am able to come back again, we loved our stay. Oh, even were greeted by a large turkey a couple of mornings. Wish the freeway was nor directly behind the house but we were so tired each night and with the sound machines we were just fine. We are still talking about it! Enjoy !!

What a gorgeous historical house, that is perfect for a group or large family! The grounds were impeccable, and the owners were very quick to respond to the couple of questions that we had. We will definitely make a return visit to this VRBO!
