Welcome to our sunny one bedroom plus den, located near the infamous Gowanus canal. Only steps away from the trendy Smith Street, the F train is 3 blocks away and a 20 minute subway ride to midtown Manhattan. The apartment is on the parlor floor, with high ceilings, only one step! Perfect for 2 - 4 persons. Comfortable Queen bed and 2 singles. Enjoy the shared back yard, the Brooklyn way which means getting there down the fire escape ladder a few feet. The apartment is clean and uncluttered perfect for your stay.
For another larger rental option in the neighborhood, and the heart of Carroll Gardens
Caroline Lee Skaife purchased this apartment in 1999
It's the best neighborhood. A beautiful walk to the subway, restaurants, Carroll Park, locally owned shops and speciality food stores.
My husband and I, and our son and daughter in law all had a pleasant stay here for 5 nights over the Christmas holiday. Our daughter and wife live just around the block, so it was a perfect location for us. Lee provided us with tons of information on the neighborhood and communication with her was easy. The space inside the flat is light and roomy, and there is a VERY comfortable queen bed in the bedroom. The twin beds in the den worked out so much better than a pullout type couch and it was one reason we chose this property. Lee provided some very simple but lovely touches to welcome us such as a lily bloom in the bedroom and 4 oranges on the table. The kitchen had plenty of dishes but we did not cook there as we had meals out or at our daughter's. The bathroom is small but we knew that ahead of time and it worked just fine for 4 adults. We all agreed that a longer shower curtain would help keep water inside the tub while showering, but the towels were huge and soft and wonderful! We had a fun time seeing iconic Christmas sights in Manhattan, but we thought the neighborhood decorations and lights were even more charming and true Brooklyn! There are SO many shops and restaurants and cafes in the area too. We are so happy we booked this home away from home and hope to use it again in the future. PS. one reviewer thought the church bells were a problem, but I found the carols were so pretty and nothing about it was loud. In fact the street was very quiet!
We very much enjoyed our second stay at this Carroll Gardens Brooklyn apartment and are looking forward to returning for a third. The apartment is well maintained and generously outfitted. The neighborhood has enormous appeal and variety plus easy access to the subway. Many thanks to the owner.
This is the second year we have stayed at this place. It serves our purposes very well. Nice street and area in Brooklyn, and near where we need to be, so it is perfect for us. The apartment has everything you need, though it is sparse. The owners should replenish the coffee mugs!! Other than that, all is just right.
We spent 2 nights in this apartment. It was great for two people. It was clean and functional. The location was very good for us.
I would recommend this Brooklyn apartment (indeed, I have!) without hesitation. The bed was without a doubt one of the most comfortable I've slept on, and the lofty ceilings and clean lines made for a welcome return at the end of the day. The amenities were exactly as depicted in the listing, and the transaction and check-in instructions were simple. Two subway lines into Manhattan are a quick walk away, making it really easy to get to meetings downtown. Friendly bar staff at the Brooklyn Social bar on Spring St. just around the corner -- a former Italian social club maintaining an authentic look and feel. Great for a late-night panini.
I wish I could have stayed longer than two nights. And next time, I'd bring my son -- the two single beds in the adjoining room make the place perfect for families.
Spent Four Nights. Easily accessible as there is a lock box to obtain the key,
Lovely Old Brownstone in very residential neighborhood,on 1st floor, but also convenient to transportation.
As all Brownstone rentals, could use some updating.
Owner very friendly. Lives upstairs.
Wold return for next visit.
Infamous Brownstone Brooklyn. Family life at it's best.
