About the property

A 3 Bedrooms, 4 Bathrooms Property With Incredible Views In Cap Estate

'In Xanadu did Kubla Khan a stately pleasure dome decree.....' Samuel Coleridge 1797

The unique design of this magnificent villa was inspired by the famous domed City of pleasure called Xanadu created by the Mongol ruler Kubla Khan in China during the 12th century. Standing proudly on a sea facing hillside for many years it is still as fresh and interesting today and has recently undergone an extensive renovation whilst preserving the character of this tasteful and fascinating study in concrete and stonework engineering. The domes of the villa dominate the hillside on St Lucia's northern tip in the exclusive residential area of the old sugar plantation of Cap Estate.

In good visibility the nearby larger Island of Martinique is clearly seen to the north and this makes an impressive backdrop to the Caribbean sea view both during the day and at night.

The high south west facing terraces of Xanadu provide beautiful views of nearby Pigeon Island and St Lucia's Caribbean coastline and and is the perfect place to enjoy a sundowner while watching the setting sun. These Caribbean sunsets are famous for their beauty and you may even witness the elusive green flash when the sky is clear. The Villa is surrounded by nearly two acres of gardens that slope gently away from the house and are home to coconut palms and tropical plants.

Nearby is St Lucia's Golf Resort and Country Club. This is a challenging and enjoyable 18 hole par 71 golf course.

There are nearby beautiful white sand beaches catering for all manner of water sports including safe swimming and snorkeling, scuba diving, hobby cat sailing, water skiing, para gliding and wind surfing.

Sports fishing and deep sea fishing enthusiasts will soon find what they want.

When the present owners bought the Villa for them it was love at first sight. They were captivated by the elevated position and the 270 degree views of the ocean and coastline. The gentle sea breezes temper the tropical heat and make relaxing by the poolside a real pleasure. The pool extends into the domed living area and has its own bar stools in the water to enjoy that rum punch or local fruit juice.

The villa has three spacious bedroom suites arranged round the pool terrace, all with modern bathrooms and wonderful uncluttered views of the ocean and gardens. They have nautically themed names. They all have their own private separate access direct from the terrace. There is a separate maid's room below the house.

'Captain's Quarters'--- Master bedroom

This air conditioned bedroom suite is elevated with a large rain forest shower room below and has a separate balcony overlooking the pool terrace and ocean views to Martinique. An impressive four poster king size bed adds to the wow factor of this domed ceiling circular bedroom. It has a shaving point in the bathroom and hair dryer is provided.

'Ocean'—Queen bedroom

Step out of this lovely bedroom and the swimming pool is 3 strides away. Large windows face the ocean and the Island of Martinique and the gardens. It has a four poster queen size bed and air conditioning and large ceiling fan. There is a small safe and hair dryer. In the bathroom there is a shaving point.

'Bosuns' ---- King bedroom

This the largest bedroom suite with an enormous double bed and an additional separate single bed. It is air conditioned and also has a large ceiling fan and opens on to the pool terrace. It has a small safe, shaver point in the bathroom and hairdryer.

'The Dome'

This huge circular domed living area is the center piece of the Villa and its five large bi-fold doors open to a circular terrace giving the option of the outdoor living that is the essence of life in St Lucia and the Caribbean. The completely circular area with it's compass rose floor has a unique atmosphere and gives access to the swimming pool bar which is partly inside the dome. Large plants shrive in this sheltered room and give a truly botanical feel. There is a dedicated television area.

The Dome leads to the curved kitchen area with completely modern equipment and corian work surfaces and double sink. It is claimed that no where in the Caribbean is the view from the kitchen sink so spectacular. The historical Pigeon Island lies below and the beautiful coastline of the west of the Island stretch away and at night the lights of the town of the town of Gros Islet and marina village at Rodney Bay add to the magical view. The kitchen has a powerful four burner Italian cooker with large oven and grill and a huge double fridge freezer and ice maker. Other equipment include a microwave oven, dishwasher, toaster and kettle. The kitchen doors lead on to the barbecue terrace and sheltered outside dining area.

A daily maids service is provided if required and security services ensure your stay is safe and enjoyable.

Regretfully the villa is not considered small children friendly (under the age of 10 years) and no pets are permitted. Smoking anywhere inside the villa is not permitted.

Great property, great host = wonderful vacation!

  • 4 of 5

Wow! My second trip to St. Lucia - and I must say this was better than the first. A bit apprehensive at first about VRBO, and how at times things are made to seem better than they actually are. Not Xanadu! From my first inquiry, and discussion with Kris (the property manager), things were made easy - to our final good by - Things were amazing!

The property is amazing, especially if couples, or grown kids like their own entry way into each room!

The view is almost 360 degrees around the property - the view is absolutely stunning! Viola, the house keeper, kept us in perfect order. I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to treat yourself.

We rented a car, toured, hung out with day passes at Sandals (teenagers loved this experience!).

Just an overall wonderful experience! Cheers to the owners, Kris and Viola for making this vacation so memorable!

Exquisite Villa, Peaceful, With Amazing Views!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first family vacation to St Lucia and we were not disappointed. The Villa Xanadu was everything we'd imagined and more. Perched on the north end of the island the Villa overlooks Smugglers Cove and Pigeon Island. This peaceful retreat had views that are unmatched. The pictures are exactly what you get, clean and well maintained. Viola kept the Villa spotless, the pool was crystal clear, and everything worked perfectly. The location allows a nice breeze keeping you comfortable during the day while the AC in each of the three bedroom keeps you comfortable while you sleep. Kris was very helpful in making all of the arrangements from pre-stocking the Villa to arranging trips and tours and dining recommendations...which were all spot on. My family thoroughly enjoyed "Treetop Adventures" zip line tour and a "Seaspray" Catamaran tip to Soufriere. Kris recommended dining at Big Chef Steakhouse, Taste of India, Razzmatazz, Spinnakers, and finally Marjorie's, all which were delightful. We especially enjoyed the day passes available at BodyHoliday Resort just below the villa; all inclusive catered dining, beverages, umbrellas, loungers, water-sports, and even a workout if you feel up to it. Being able to take a dip in the pool between activities makes it all worth it. Driving can be a bit stressful so take Kris's advice and get a taxi from the airport to the villa and rent a car locally. Amazing, Peaceful, Beautiful, Exceptional Service.......I have already passed the Villa information to many of my friends with a five star recommendation!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your kind words! Glad you all had a good stay even if one member could not make it but I am sure she was updated every step of the way. Maybe next time all four of you can enjoy the beauty of the island and the villa together and you can be the tour guide! There is still sooo much to see and do! Looking forward to hosting you again! All the best ! Kris

Together with friends I have just spent 2 fantastic weeks at Xanadu in St Lucia. This beautiful Villa is everything it claims to be and more. It offers total tranquility and privacy with sea and coastal views better than I have ever seen before. The property is in an open elevated position which we quickly learned has two huge advantages in this tropical location, one is that mosquitoes have no cover and two, they dislike the sea breezes that keep the pool and terrace a very pleasant place to be day and night.

In other holidays I have spent in St Lucia at other Villas I found insects can sometimes be a problem because of surrounding vegetation and still air, not at Xanadu.

The many restaurants we visited nearby all offered a great variety of food and value and the big Marina complex just a mile or so away is teeming with life and fun. The only place we felt negative about was the newly re-opened restaurant called The Blue Olive in Rodney Bay, don't go there if you are hungry and like value for money, shockingly small portions and a smell of sewerage !

Management of the villa is very good with nothing too much trouble and our daily maid, Viola was a ray of sunshine.

I cannot recommend this interesting and unique villa highly enough, frankly a stay there is worth every cent and in my opinion worth a lot more than they charge but don't tell them. I want to go back !

Our week in paradise!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I together with two friends spent a fantastic week in Villa Xanadu. The reality of this amazing villa exceeded our best expectations. We arrived just in time for a breathtaking sunset. Kris the villa manager welcomed us. She had stocked up the fridge with everything from our shopping list which we had sent to her a week before. So we had a great first meal in the Villa after travelling all day. After a good night sleep in very comfortable beds our holiday began. The first day we didn´t go anywhere, we just enjoyed the giant pool, the wonderful breeze and the exceptional 270° views. From the terrace you look straight at the island of Martinique, very clear during the day and beautifully lit up at night. I loved to read under the Frangipani Tree overlooking Pigeon Island, Rodney Bay and down the Caribbean coast whilst the others were enjoying themselves in the pool on the other side of the dome. It is very special that the pool enters the living area. Great fun!

The next day we discovered a footpath from the villa directly to the beach at the bottom of our hillside. 15 min. walking distance. Great for swimming and snorkelling. Shops, supermarkets and excellent restaurants all just a short drive away.

Viola the housekeeper was very friendly and helpful. She kept the villa very clean and tidy for us. The two men disappeared a few times to the nearby golf course and enjoyed their round of golf.

We went on two day trips. One to the rainforest for zip lining and another one to Soufriere in the south of the island -near the Pitons- to the vulcanic sulfur springs and bathed in the hot water pools. So relaxing.

There is so much more we could have done but we also loved to spent time in this magnificent Villa Xanadu to enjoy the peace and tranquility. A special thanks to Kris the villa manager who did a fantastic job looking after us! We will be coming back for more!

Villa Xanadu is amazing!

  • 5 of 5

My kids and I had an amazing stay in St. Lucia at Villa Xanadu! The villa is breath taking and so is the view! The photos of it are beautiful, but it is so much more in person! Kris, the manager did a great job of stocking us with groceries, setting up our excursions and rental car, and making sure everything was perfect! We didn't want to leave! I highly recommend Villa Xanadu!

Stunning property for the perfect family holiday!

  • 5 of 5

Xanadu is spectacular! The villa layout is both unique and highly functional. There are breathtaking views from every window and with each step surrounding the property. Each of the guest suites were thoughtful from comfortable bedding and décor to private access which made for easy escapes to reading, naps or bed time (fantastic air conditioning and private bathrooms in each bedroom). The photographs of the property are very accurate. This is a very special place that invites relaxation. Viola, the villa's housekeeper, was delightful. She was on site for the week days of our stay making us comfortable and keeping things tidy for a set number of hours each day. The property manager, Kris, provided excellent customer service leading up to our arrival and certainly upon greeting us at Xanadu. Kris was available to answer questions and assist with any request during the entire stay. We found the locals in St. Lucia to be beautiful, kind people. A car rental was helpful during our stay for daily runs to the grocery store (ice, fresh foods for the grill) and simple outings to local beaches, parks, restaurants. There are plenty of places to dine, shop, walk, and enjoy the island life within close proximity of the villa. The roads in St. Lucia take some navigating and a lot of time as traffic is heavy thus we did not venture terribly far from the villa though we could have -- mainly we did not want to spend much time away from the beauty and relaxation offered at Xanadu! Lunches at the Naked Fisherman and Jambe de Bois were two of our favorites that are very near the villa (easy drive to each). We enjoyed a special dinner at The Cliff (at Cap Maison resort) - excellent service and delicious food! The Coal Pot in Castries made for a very nice lunch during our one outing to the capital. Good food and really great service was never hard to find on the island. Pigeon Island/Fort Rodney is a must-do outing for any visitor. The beaches and views from ground-level are stunning but the hike to Fort Rodney (and then up to Signal Peak) is spectacular and offers amazing views and great photo opportunities. Jambe de Bois (restaurant) is in the park and as mentioned offers a great lunch and dinner. I highly recommend Xanadu and the "north end" of St. Lucia to any traveler!
