We have been in the tourism industry since 1994 and the Battlefields Inn is our second vacation rental property. We also operate the Harpers Ferry Campgound. Because of our long history in the industry we understand the needs and desires of vistors to our area. Although we operate several other businesses, the vacation rentals are my primary focus personally so you will get the attention to detail you deserve.
Laura Knott purchased this house in 2011
We purchased this home in 2011 and over the winter of 2011-2012, we totally refurbished this historical home to bring it up to modern standards. It is conveniently located near other Harpers Ferry attractions and our other vacation rental making it an easy combination for larger groups. The house has a huge yard and field out back which gives plenty of area for relaxing or playing. Every year in May we host the Harpers Ferry Half Marathon and kids fun run nearby. The starting line is right out front of the home.
The home has been beautifully restored while maintaining the historical character. It is convenient to all the Harpers Ferry attractions some of which are within walking distance yet the home is in a semi rural setting. We have 2 master bedrooms with king beds, one on the main floor that is handicap accessible. We also have an internet ready big screen tv, a hot tub on our covered back porch, gas fireplace in the living room, and a large front porch with rocking chairs for relaxing.
"Our two families had a wonderful time in your beautiful home. We toured the area and Thanksgiving day was enjoyed with our grandson and three of his college friends from Patrick Henry College around your dining room table. We loved having the assortment of spices to enhance our meals!!"
We enjoyed our stay. House was very tidy and comfortable. We will definitely recommend this to our friends.
Very good place, but a little less secluded than I was hoping for. The place was clean and well stocked, the staff were friendly, and it was overall very comfortable.
We stayed at the Battlefield Inn for my husband's 50th birthday and a family reunion and we loved it! Would definitely stay again!
This house was awesome. Clean, comfortable with plenty of amenities. Laura was amazing and answered every question I had with a really quick response time. Check in and out was a BREEZE. Laura's assistant Renzo is located just down the street at River Riders and could not be more helpful. If you're planning on tubing down one of the rivers you really couldn't ask for a better location. The hot tub was sparkling clean as was the entire house. Plenty of trees for shade and a BBQ for grilling. The only thing you should be aware of is in the summer River Riders will park cars in the field behind the house so there will be people very close to the yard. But honestly it was not a big deal and by the time we were back from our own river adventure there were not many cars left in the field but if you're looking for something more private you should be aware of that fact. All in all a really good experience and I highly recommend this house for a weekend getaway.
A group of friends and I stayed at this house for a weekend for our annual canoe trip and it was perfect. The location was great - close to the store, not too far off the main road, and a short drive to shepherdstown. Every one I dealt with was super friendly as well as accommodating. The house was perfect for our needs - plenty of room for everyone, nothing too fancy, clean, easy to get to, and the owners were a pleasure to deal with. The hot tub, fire pit, and side yard were bonuses. Loved the house and the location. River riders is in the back of the house, but we had plenty of room and no problems with them being so close. A great house for spending time with friends.
House was great, huge yard to relax in, and River Riders is just up the road (which is a negative if you're looking for a place to get away from civilization). Just be aware there is a lot of traffic coming through. All in all we would recommend it again, we had a great time!
The 'Battlefields Inn' is located in the center of the School House Ridge Battlefield where the largest surrender of Union Troops occurred during the Civil War. Stonewall Jackson's troops marched right through the area where the Inn is located during the Battle of Harpers Ferry in September 1862.
The Inn is also near River Riders offering whitewater rafting, zip line canopy tours, aerial adventure parks, tubing, kayaking, canoeing, biking, teambuilding, summer camps for your kids, hiking, climbing, and fishing.
Free access to the deep water Potomac River for your boat at the Harpers Ferry Campground is included with your rental.
It is 5 miles to the Hollywood Casino at the Charles Town Races, 2 miles to the town of Harpers Ferry, and 15 minutes to Shepherdstown. The Appalachian Trail and entrance to the Harpers Ferry National Park are about 1 mile away.
