About George Stanley
I am retired. I enjoy my two cats, Olly and Geo. I retired from the Community College System and enjoy meeting people, thus the rental. I enjoy traveling and finding neat places. I hope I have created one here.
George Stanley purchased this Apartment in 2007
Why George Stanley chose Asheville
I had a half -finished basement when I purchased the home, which I separated from the house upstairs. I envisioned a downstairs cabin so others could enjoy the beautiful mountains as I do.
What makes this Apartment unique
Living on a rural mountain and bordering the Biltmore Estate Property, there is an abundance of wildlife - turkey, deer, pheasants, bear, raccoons, generally all sorts of wildlife. I have pictures of bear in the yard and in close-by trees. At an elevation of 3,346 feet, the cabin overlooks a huge valley. The valley is often filled with fog, creating a beautiful sunrise at eye-level.

Rustic private apartment with incredible views
George is a great host for this downstairs rustic private apartment. Perfect for a couples getaway not far from Asheville and Biltmore. Big climb up the mountain but worth the drive.
Exactly what we were looking for
Mr. Stanley's property is perched neatly atop a beautiful mountain ridge. The view is breathtaking and my wife and I enjoyed every bit of it! We visited in late December and could easily view the other side of the ridge form the guest parking deck. The living area is perfect for two and George is a fine host. It contains all the essentials, just make sure to stop at the grocery store and then enjoy your stay!
This was our first Vrbo stay and we have absolutely no regrets. You simply cannot find a hotel ANYWHERE with the view that Mr. Stanley's place offers.
Great place to stay
We didn’t get to leave a message for the host due to a quick departure.
Dear me Stanley thank you so much for your stay,
It was perfect for us in about every way.
The ride up was quite scary I may have called out a sware.
Although everything was very nice once we got there.
The first evening I went out and what did I see.
Little John was there staring right back at me.
When I awoke in the morning the fog made things quite murky .
But it was pretty cool when we fed all the turkey.
Sorry the second night didn’t work as I had planned out
However getting down the mountain became quite a doubt.
Thank you for working with us when forecasted ice.
We did not have to leave getting down to a roll of the dice!
The drive up the first time in the dark was a bit intimidating, but once there it’s a magnificent view from the top of the mountain. The unit was very clean and comfortable and the host exceptional. It was no real issue for us, but the shower unit was the smallest I have ever used. Everything worked out just fine for our 2 night stay. We even got to meet “Little John”, the resident black bear that paid a visit the last night we were there.
Everything was as shown and as stated. Had no problems or issues. George was a great host. The property has a beautiful view and was in a great location. If we are in Asheville again we hope it is available.
Perfect location with amazing views! The drive up to your stay is not for the faint of heart, but after the first drive up it’s not so bad and the views at the top are totally worth it. George is super friendly and helpful if you need him. He lives on site but is not intrusive or bothersome in anyway. I would 100% stay there again. Perfect getaway for a couple and dog friendly.
