Sunny 70's three bedroom house, with separate bath, shower, and toilet rooms. We've had fun with a top to toe, inside and outside refurbishment. The kitchen is well equipped, the furnishings are eclectic, and the beds and bedding comfy. There are lots of books, DVD, Freeview TV, a kid cave for small kids and big kids, and even a stereo that plays vinyls!!
A sumptuous breakfast basket is provided and we can do antipasto platters, BBQ packs, and picnic baskets for you too. Complementary marshmallows for toasting on the outdoor fire.
The house is sunny and warm with two fireplaces, electric heating in the bedrooms and electric blankets.
The outdoor areas are large, with sunny patios, sprawling lawns, country views, barbeque and outdoor fire. Great spaces for children and dogs, all securely fenced for safety.
Several wedding and function centres are nearby and we'll even pick you up afterwards. We live five minutes away.
Otaki is to many an undiscovered gem with it's cafes, outlet shopping, artisan galleries, specialty food supplies, markets, pick you own veges, wholesale plant nurseries, historic places, antique shops and the beach just 10 minutes away. Perfect place for a family getaway or a girls' weekend.
There are golf courses, the Tararua Forest Park, cycling on and off road, tramping, fishing, horse riding, an adventure park for kids, or simply places for a leisurely country stroll.
Just a few of the local events include the Manakau Medieval Market, Ruth Pretty Cooking School, Otaki Races, Horowhenua A P and I Show, Kapiti and Horowhenua Art Trails, Organic River Festival, Waikanae Garden Trail, Balloon Festival, and Kite Festival.
We've tried to think of everything, so go on, drive a few kilometres and be inspired, invigorated and rejuvenated - Simply time to relax and recharge your batteries.

Had an amazing stay here. Few friends and I stayed for a few days over the New Years break, such a cute place, would be great for families. Had everything we needed. Owners went above and beyond, even provided some bacon and eggs for our first breakfast, also put a bottle of bubbles in the fridge for us to celebrate the New Year. I would absoulutley stay again and would recommend this place to everyone!
Loved this house! The photos don't do the house justice. The house was larger then we expected and so tastefully decorated with great outdoor spaces. The little touches they provided were also fantastic added bonuses we didn't expect. Great value for money and would love to stay here again.
Very handy for us, halfway between Palmerston North and Wellington.
The Homegrown House is a brilliant set-up. They have thought of everything - even the fine details such as buzz bars in the freezer -Awesome!
We stayed at Homegrown House for just one night while attending a wedding in Otaki, but would love to come back and stay for a weekend getaway! Sue and Bill really have their guests in mind with every little detail in this house - and are so welcoming. We all appreciated the breakfast basket left out for us (with a bottle of bubbly to celebrate Valentines Day)!
Really loved our stay at Homegrown House. The property was delightful and crammed full of creative features that were an inspiration to relax! Only thing was, our stay was only night, and it was raining so we didn't get to venture outside which looked gorgeous too! The children loved the rumpus room, very well kitted out with everything cool! And we especially loved explaining the beautiful record player to the children and having a dance ;)
