Bush and river reserves close to town, and several spacious, sandy beaches a short drive away. A cyclist's haven. Spot rare birds at Manawatu Estuary, visit the native owl sanctuary, or enjoy feeding the various waterfoul that make Levin's Lake Horowhenua their home. Walk through the nikau forest at nearby Lake Papaitoanga or enjoy a round of golf.
If you're in an 'in town' mood, try Levin's 'Op shop' and Factory shop' trails for super bargains, visit 'RJ's Liquorice' factory, and enjoy an organic wine at the Celtic Winery and Yeoman Brewery. Catch a movie at the local cinema (DVD's also provided in the Bach). Take a dip and spa at the aquatic centre, or enjoy Te Takere, Levin's new library and cultural centre. Pop up to Foxton to see the Dutch Windmill (and buy freshly milled grains). The Maori Arts space, small Flax Stripper Museum and Museum of Audio-Visual Technology are also worth a visit.
Experience some of the colourful rural events often hosted in the area: Easter Hot-air balloons, APandI Show (Agricultural, Pastoral and Industrial), Beach Carnivals, Ye Olde Medieval Market, Organic River Fest, Vintage Car Meets, Foxton's Spring Fling and Easter Fest, and Great Forest Events' NZ's #1 Off-Road Marathon, 1/2 Marathon and 5km run/walk, and wow at the Otaki Kite Fest.
After all that, retire to this relaxing cottage for a quiet dinner. Fresh herbs and veges in season available to include in your meal. Sleep like a log in the comfy new bed, then try the great breakfast menu at Whispers Cafe - open daily from 7am. Or make a smoothie in the cottage kitchen blender. Cheers!
A smoke free, eco-friendly property. Not suitable for small children or pets, due to various aspects of the garden. Cycle-friendly - (lock your bike to the verandah post). Room to park a motor home.
Had a lovely stay at this very peaceful and immaculately presented bach. Had everything we needed and more. Very impressed and would happily recommend this to others.
Awesome stay in a beautiful well maintained home away from home. Gorgeous grounds in a quiet and refreshing environment. Loved it!
We loved our stay at the 'Bach in the Patch'. All the home comforts, privacy, lovely homely feel and surroundings - including access to the garden and vegetable patch! Excellent access to the main highways and main town, Levin, yet out on the fringes with the beautiful countryside virtually on the doorstep.
Great stay highly recommended.
The batch was lovely so comforting to come back too, loved it
thank you Charles And Radha
A superb location on the edge of town and a very modern and well equipped cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and found it a great base to explore the area.
The bach was a little difficult to find at night as the street itself was quite dark. But overall, it was really clean and tidy, everything was provided (towels, soap+shampoo, kitchen utensils too). Was a good location as it was close to the town centre and they've provided a good info book with places to go and see.
