About Bjarni Thor Jonsson

I am a 70 years old lawyer working for the building department of the capital city Reykjavik in Iceland. I was born in Reykjavik and live there.

Bjarni Thor Jonsson purchased this cottage in 2006

Why Bjarni Thor Jonsson chose Iceland

I have many relatives and friends in this area and was working on a farm as a young boy. I have always loved this part of the country with all its attractions and beautiful landscape.

What makes this cottage unique

When this ground came for sale 10 years ago I did not hesitate to buy it. I could choose from several situations but this one had it all. On a hillside with mainly grass, moss and blueberries late August and September and a great view from the hillside over to the mountains.

Guestbook comments from the manager

The house is very nice and comfortable with lots of space. Everything is new and in perfect condition. The owner is very friendly and helpsome. Sitting in the hottop you have a beautiful view of the mountains and the sunset. We recommend the house very much.

Spotless and well appointed cabin with spectacular views.

  • 5 of 5

Convenient and centrally located to many of the beautiful sights of Iceland. Out far enough in the country to view the magnificent northern lights. The cabin was beyond our expectations. It was clean, well appointed and extremely comfortable. The owner did a great job of leaving instructions in English so Americans can understand how to use the equipment at the cabin. Hot tub was wonderful after a chilly day touring. Beds were very comfortable. We would highly recommend this wonderful property to anyone wanting to experience the wonders of Iceland.

Our favorite location in Iceland!!

  • 5 of 5

We really can't say enough good things about Bjarni's wonderful log home. It really deserves 6 stars out of 5! The location is very private, with a view down into a distant valley that's to die for. Yet it is only a 10 minute drive from the village of Fludir---where we soon discovered the wonderful Sindri Bakery and Cafe. (Not to be missed---lovely breads and desserts, as well as a filling soup/bread lunch daily---all cooked baked by Iris and her husband.) We enjoyed excursions to nearby Geysir and Gullfoss waterfalls. While there is a small market in Fludir, we purchased food at the Bonus in Selfoss (30 min drive) and cooked breakfasts and dinners at the cabin---it was just too nice there to worry about going out. Bjarni was a great host, answering our questions promptly, and even meeting us in Reykjavik and loaning us his GPS to help find the cabin.

Adventure and relaxation

  • 5 of 5

I can't think of a better place to stay while exploring the central and southern areas of Iceland. Our days were filled with adventure and nights were pure relaxation. Our host was so accommodating. He allowed us to use his GPS and his home had everything we could possible need. I highly recommend his home. You won't be disappointed.

Great Log Cabin with stunning views

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at the Log Cabin, weather was great and it was a pleasure sitting out on the deck looking at the mountains. Great new BBQ to use and the hot tub was nice to soak in. With almost 22 hours of daylight it would be nice if there were black out blinds.

Heaven on Earth!

  • 5 of 5

Words cannot explain how thrilled we were with this property. It is truly heaven on earth! Centrally located, full of amenities. We especially enjoyed the sauna and Jacuzzi. I cannot say enough about the view of the horses from the covered porch. I was thrilled to wake up each day and see them grazing below us. The owner provided his GPS which was so helpful. On our airplane ride home I referred this home to a passenger and her family who were looking for a place to stay on their next visit to Iceland. I highly recommend this home and location and look forward to another visit.
