Guestbook comments from the manager

Steve, here’s our review from our stay at the cottage (Memorial Day weekend). I could not create an homeaway account at work, so thought I’d send this to you directly so you could add it to the reviews. 5 star stay and a value for what you get. Hope you are all well and happy!

“This is the perfect cottage for lake fun! There is plenty of room for your boat and a wonderful view of the water. Especially liked the large lawn and the large patio area! while the space is cozy, it definitely provided all that we needed. If only we'd had more time-off from work!”

Great Family Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful Lake and private friendly atmosphere, I have three kids and they were able to enjoy spending time in the Lake which was pretty clean and caught frogs by the dock and we brought a motor for the rowboat so we were able to go out on the Lake and fish. Cottage was very clean and all the amenities worked out great, there are local supermarkets and gas stations very close by and a great Pizza joint Tasty Pizza I would highly recommend them if you were looking for takeout. We loved the covered swing in the back and me and my daughter spent a lot of time watching the lake and boaters go by while relaxing on the swing. Neighbors were very friendly and the whole place seemed to have a very family friendly vibe to it. We brought our two dogs they both had a great time and made friends with the neighbors dogs. I would highly recommend this cottage and this lake it was a great experience and we all made a lot of great memories here and will be back!

Owner's Response: That is such a nice review! My father has put in $35,000 over the past three years in renovations. He has strive to make it a very nice cottage for a great value. We love to see families enjoy themselves and create great memories. That's what going to the Lake is all about. Thanks Steve

Loved it

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at this cottage. Very clean, and supplies that go beyond expectations. We had boats available at no additional costs. Everything works, and the lake property and view were everything we could expect. A wonderful time for me and my wife. I retired just this year, and this is just the ticket for a relaxing visit, with so many places to go for food and entertainment.

Nice Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

I took my family up for a getaway and had a great time. The cottage was nice and clean. We were able to bring our dog and best of all there was a canoe and row boat, which allowed us to get out on the lake. My teenagers enjoyed the canoe and I enjoyed the row boat to go out and try some fishing. They have a fire pit which made for a fun evening of sitting by the fire and enjoying the beauty of the lake. The state park is also close by and we were able to walk the trails.

The manager was great to work with and I would highly recommend this cottage.

Amazing Reunion Weekend

  • 5 of 5

This was a wonderful cottage for a reunion with college friends. We rented two properties owned by this manager. They are next door to each other and worked amazingly for our larger group. The cottages were well maintained and clean. I would suggest both of these cottages for any group. The managers were professional and extremely nice. These cottages are a home run for any trip to the lake.

A Perfect August on Crooked Lake

  • 4 of 5

We rented this cottage for three weeks this August. We had come from Texas to escape the heat and this was a perfect choice. Though not large the cottage was a good size for the two of us - and company that we had in and out during the month. The cottage was very clean and the kitchen well stocked. We enjoyed the lakefront room with its wicker furniture and wall of windows, eating out on the patio just in time for beautiful sunsets and often adjourning to the firepit on the cool evenings. The owners have done great renovations this year and I understand they have more planned - which may really move this property into the 5 star category! It is a good value for the rental.

We have family on the lake so we have been here many times before. We list our favorite spots to eat as Captains Cabin (on Crooked), Mulligans (on James), Daves Lake Shack (on Snow) and Carusos and Auntie V's in Angola. If you want great meat to grill Hargers Meat Market is the place to go!

This is a wonderful spot to relax lakeside. The lawn and swing by the water are perfect for visiting and a good book. Hope we can do it again!

Other Activities: If you love the lake here are other activities:

1. Free use of Row Boat, Paddle Boat, and Canoe, to be shared with the cottage next door.

2. Motor Boat rental at local Marina.

3. People love this location for it quietness and space. Many places are 50 feet properties all along the shore, but with 75 feet of frontage you have much more space and privacy.

4. This location on the lake is know for great water to water ski on, because the waves are small due the hills and tree line that keep the wind down. If you like it a bit bumpier with waves for tubing, just go around the corner fro some good size waves.

5. Spring and fall are great times for fishing and there have been many bass tournaments on Crooked Lake.

6. Known for Great Golf courses in the local area!!!

7. Pokagon State Park has it all, hiking, fishing, and a great 400 foot beach with a diving platform, life guards, and concession food.

8. Canoeing the Mongo River nature preserve is out of this world!

Golf: The local golf courses are highly rated and a fair values. Please Google, 'Northeast Indiana golf courses', for a large variety to choose from. We have many guests who come year after year as a guy or girl get away week end to play golf.

Ski: There is plenty of water skiing right out the front door only 75 feet from your lake shore. A dock is provided for your boat. Also, here are many places to rent water craft in the local area. When you call I can help get you in contact with boat rentals.
