About the property

3 Br (4 sleeping areas) 2 Ba Sleeps up to 8-9

Beautiful chalet-style vacation home with spectacular views, fireplace and hot tub in a community with two outdoor pools and one indoor pool; it is located in the Wallenpaupack Lake area in beautiful Lake Ariel, PA which is about 2 hours from New York City. Unlike other lake fronts which place you up hills and long walking distances to the lake, we are Right On a will wake up and look out your windows to beautiful close-up views of the fountain in the pond. The door is literally steps to the pond and not down steep hills either! We accept Book It Now options through the Homeaway site.

Renter Requirements: Renters must be 30 years of age or older and we will require photocopies of drivers licenses to ensure compliance with this rule. Families with children are the only exceptions to this rule. There is NO smoking in the house. NO CATS are allowed, EVER.

House: We also have a massive movie library with lots of kids movies that we update frequently (perfect for a night with a roaring fire). We have Roku in every room with access to Netflix, Hulu+, HBO, Showtime, and many other channels. We also have an XBOX 360 upstairs in the loft and a retro video game system downstairs with many titles from Nintendo, Genesis, Super Nintendo, Arcade, etc...

Community: For summer renters, there are two outdoor pools....There is a nice lodge at the nearby pool which offers games for kids & teens. There are tennis courts at this pool area which must be reserved in advance at the main office. There is also an indoor pool which is about 5 minutes drive and there is schedule of times that it is open. All community amenities require badges which we will provide to renters.Fishing: there is ample opportunity to do so and the fishing is great in all three lakes (Lake Wallenpaupack is the BIG lake, and the two smaller lakes in our community are called Deer Lake & Beaver Lake, which are both NON-power-boating lakes). If you wish to fish, you MUST get fishing licenses to do so (adults). It is a simple process and it is very inexpensive, but it could cost a lot of money if you fail to have one and get caught fishing without it! Please contact owner for website where you can purchase your fishing license.

Children may only fish with a licensed adult present

About Shawn Abbott

Hi - This is our first property and we're so excited to share it with some great people! The previous owners just renovated the house, putting in a new kitchen and updating the bathrooms. Entire interior and exterior of house has just been painted.

Shawn Abbott purchased this chalet in 2014

Why Shawn Abbott chose Lake Ariel

We traveled to the area and absolutely fell in love with the community. We're excited to make some great memories with our family here and hope that you will do the same.

What makes this chalet unique

The fountain (in season)! The sounds and the view are incredibly relaxing. Also, the property is a short walk to the community outdoor pool (with snack bar) as well as the community beach on Deer Lake.

Fountain house is phenomenal!

  • 5 of 5

Great place for family of 5 and a dog. The community is super duper clean and filled with wonderful amenities such as 2 outdoor pools and one indoor pool, basketball court, tennis court lacrosse nets soccer nets, tether ball, volleyball court ,street hockey rink! There is a fitness center ice cream and snack shop as well. Probably what I found most amazing was the tranquil and relaxing the environment. You do not have to deal with the shore crowd and battling for parking spots and spaces on the beach. The house is right next to Deer Lake which has no motor boats or jet skis allowed. The owners provide 2 kayaks that have a wheel attachment so you can walk them down to the lake with little effort.

We smored it up by the firepit and took advantage of the owners hot tub at the end of the day. The inside of the house has a rich and upscale couch and loveseat .Each bedroom has huge tvs and one has a Xbox 360 with tons of games for the kids and the dads too. The bathrooms are fully equipped and nicely refinished. The kitchen has granite countertops and all of the appliances are upscale and work perfectly. The deck is spacious with comfortable seating and a grill . The view overlooks a pond that has a fountain that lights up at night! You can rent a boat at the nearby lake Wallenpaupak. Or you can sit on a floating dock and swim and fish there and all in walking distance ! There are trails for the adventurous and plenty of ways to expend your energy. Our family enjoyed their stay immensely and appreciated a relaxing week. Thanks Abbotts you guys rock!

Home away from home

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful scenic location, lovely home loaded with amenities, lots of things to do within the community - it was the perfect choice for a weekend getaway. Kids had a blast kayaking (kayak included!) in the community lake / private beach, they had their share of fun in the hot tub and chose to not go to the community indoor pool. Moonlit walks around the lake at night and star gazing from the deck overlooking the lake were an added bonus. Looking forward to coming back soon!

Wonderful get away, secluded, steps away from the water

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time for our weekend stay. IThe hot tub, fire pit and fireplace were equally enjoyed. Unfortunately the lake was still frozen during our visit so we didn't get a chance to enjoy the provided canoe and kayaks. Everything was ready to support our group with adequate space. The upstairs shower was wonderful and the kitchen had very new look. We had more than adequate dishes and kitchen ware to use, lacking nothing. I recommend not bothering to bring anything as the kitchen is fully stocked, cooking and dish wise. We also enjoyed viewing the movies they had available to us. I look forward to coming back during the summer, if we had this much fun there during the winter I can only imagine how it is during the summer

Beautiful property, very well maintained. The owners absolutely thought of everything!

  • 5 of 5

We had an unbelievably wonderful experience at this property from 12/18-12/20! After initially booking the property for 12/17-12/19, I was contacted by owner Shawn Abbott and informed that the property was already in the process of being booked by another guest. I was somewhat disheartened because we were greatly looking forward to our stay but informed the owner that we understood. Shawn said that if we could push our trip back by one day he would he would work with us and without going into to much detail, let me just say that he absolutely did!

The property was exactly as described and the pictures do not do it justice! We had more than enough firewood to keep the fireplace roaring and the kitchen was well equipped with all the utensils we could possibly need. The grill worked perfectly and we even enjoyed soaking in the hot tub! If you have never experienced sitting in a hot tub when the outside temperature is below freezing, you are missing out! Every room was equipped with television, cable, and Roku. We were looking forward to playing some of the old school games they have available at the gaming station but we were too busy having fun cooking, sitting in front of the fireplace, watching Christmas movies and enjoying the hot tub!

I emailed Shawn the night we arrived to inform him of a few minor items we noticed that were in need of repair-nothing major. I was not requesting the items be repaired, only letting the owner know that their condition was pre-existing. Shawn responded immediately that he was aware of the items and thanked me for contacting him.

Also, within an hour after checking out, I received a message from Shawn stating that the place was left in good repair and I had my security deposit returned to me that very same day! This place is truly amazing and we cannot wait to return in the spring/summer to take advantage of the many other amenities offered such as the kayaks in the basement and making a fire in the outside fire pit. We had an amazing stay and I cannot recommend this property enough.
