|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
This traditional family beach house offers a perfect location as a base for exploring Piha. Situated at the quieter north end of the spectacular black sand beach it is suitable for families on holiday, small groups taking time-out from the city, or those seeking to recharge their batteries in a magnificent setting. Weary trampers on the Hillary trail might also appreciate stopping for a night, or two, for home comforts, rest and recreation.
The bach has been a family holiday home for many years and is still used by the family. In addition to the expected facilities it also has an
extra outside shower and toilet and a garage housing a table tennis
table. A wrap around deck faces the sea, the sunsets and - to
one side - Monkey Rock, a miniature version of Lion Rock.
Small children will need supervision outside as the steps and the side deck to the bach have no rails (see photos), nor is the section fully fenced.
There are a number of walking tracks in the Piha area, some easy, like the 30 minute walk up to the spectacular Kite Kite falls in Glen Esk Valley. Others, more demanding, take a few hours. A good easy walking track at the north end of the beach leads up to a look-out atop North Head with stunning views up and down the rugged coast. Tracks also lead down to White's Beach, and a circular walk back to the bach can be made by following White's track up to the Anawhata road and then the Rose track along the ridge behind the bach down to 'the Glade' and back to the beach. The Glade's stream and pools offer a sheltered spot for children to play on hot summer days. In summer the beach is patrolled by life guards from the United North Piha Surf Lifesaving Club (please only swim between the flags!).
For those wanting to relax and not be bothered with cooking, the Piha
Cafe, the Piha Store, the R.S.A., the Bowling Club, and the South Piha Surf Club all provide meals.
Smoking allowed outside only

Great location, close to beach but nice and quiet down that end of Piha.
A great bach in a perfect location. Great to get away from it all.
An absolutely classic bach in a wonderful location. This house makes for a perfect getaway.
Great place will be keen to stay again.
Delightful cottage to stay in warm, cosy and comfortable with everything we needed with exception of TV but didn't need it as plenty of good books to read and DVD player provided. Right on the beach it was fantastic could see the waves from the deck. Will definitely book again in the season.
A great location for a quiet weekend for two, this was just perfect! Steps away from the glorious glittering black sand and roar of the surf. Totally enjoyed it and will be back.
