Penthouse consisting of the entire 10th floor, overlooks the Salinas Yacht Club and both the Chipipe beach and Salinas beach on the Malecon. Condo is approx. 3000 sq.ft. with 4 bedrooms, 4 1/2 baths. All have ensuite baths, Three bedrooms have king beds, one has twin beds. Master has huge bath, jetted tub, large separate shower, his and hers vanities. Step out the front door of the building and you are on Chipipe Beach, the nicest one. Rent a cabana and four chairs for about $10/day.. Vendors sell food, beer, cold coconuts, ice cream, clothing, sunglasses and just about everything you didn't know you needed. If you're young at heart, rent a jet ski, go for a banana boat or raft ride, or rent a paddle boat. Walk the beautiful beach for your morning exercise and possibly meet other Americans and Canadians doing the same. Or just sit on the fully furnished covered balcony which is over 700 sq.ft. (15 x 48) and watch the action, listen to the gentle waves on the bay. June-September, watch the whales. Have your morning coffee there, even have meals at the table which seats 6-8. This building is located two blocks from the noisy Malecon, making it a quieter place to stay and no busy street to cross to get to the beach.
Every room has an ocean view, and for that nap time and at night, all bedrooms have blackout shades to darken the rooms. All bedrooms and kitchen have new A/C units which are seldom needed because of the ocean breezes. All rooms and terrace have ceiling fans. There are no TV's in the bedrooms.
This condo was totally remodeled last year to the highest standards, with granite counter tops in kitchen and baths, custom cedar cabinetry in kitchen which has more than forty feet of counter space with under counter lighting. The flooring throughout is Italian stone providing a nonslip surface. Kitchen is complete with refrigerator/freezer, dishwasher, extra electric oven, microwave, five burner gas stove with oven, 40' gas BBQ grill vented to the outdoors, Insinkerator disposer, KitchenAid mixer, coffeepot, blender, extra refrigerator, dining table that seats 6-8, everything needed to cook and eat. There is a reverse osmosis/ultraviolet water filter system to make coffee and supply the refrigerator ice maker, so no need for large jugs of purified water or ice cube trays.
The living room sports a 75' Samsung Smart
HD /3D/TV with Blue Ray/3D player, and Sony surround sound system. Direct TV Total package is provided at no extra charge. There are two cordless phones for free local calls, WiFi.The building has 24/7 guards.
The laundry room has washer and gas dryer.
Just a couple of blocks away, there are good ceviche restaurants, shopping, and the town of Salinas offers a variety of restaurants, many of which are frequented by expats. There is a large contingency of expats in Salinas, so you are sure to make new acquaintances at the eateries and on the beach.
The property manager, fluent in English and Spanish, can arrange transportation to and from the Guayaquil airport, and for a nominal charge, he can take you on day trips to Montanita or other nearby destinations in his personal car, take you grocery shopping, cook meals, make a pizza or sushi. He will make sure your stay is a comfortable and enjoyable one.
This condo is not a typical rental, it is our home in Ecuador. It is fully equipped with most everything you will need.
This place was literally a home away from home. Lots of comfort and great location. Steps away from the beach and literally in between the family beach and the party beach, so you have options. The kitchen is immaculate and although there are many restaurants around you'll be inclined to cook your own meals.
The rental process was stresss free and Jaime was very helpful in answering our questions. This was better then staying at a 5 plus resort. All it needed was a pool, but if the ocean is your preference it is literally a few steps away from the entrance of the building. We strongly recommend it. We will be back:)
Treat yourself to a wonderful vacation. It is well worth the money. My wife and I both love the place and Jaime who managed the condo was extremely helpful. Could not have asked for a better vacation with less stress.
Super nice and clean apartment with 360 view. Balcony is exceptional! Posted pictures are true! Jamie account and local Manager was amazing. You can get help arranging for group outings, grocery shoppings, beach parties, private transportation.... you name it! We could have not had a getter time! Thank you so much for letting us stay!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hakuna Matata. The location was excellent, positioned between Chipipe and Salinas beaches. The condo was extremely comfortable with all the modern amenities. The balcony was our favorite space with amazing views and room for meals. We highly recommend this condo and plan to visit again.
Hakuna Matata is a luxury penthouse with beautiful views of Salinas Malecon and Chipipe Beach. It is well appointed with North American amenities, well maintained and very comfortable. The listing details and pictures are accurate. There are nice views from every window. The owner is very responsive and our deposit was returned promptly. We have already recommended it to other friends.
We enjoyed birding at the Equasal with Ben Haase, who can be found at the Whaling Museum. There is a good little store about 5 minutes away on the other side of the church, which is out the back gate to the right and across the park where you'll see parrots. Chipipe Beach is the best, very clean, not over crowded, canopies and chairs rent for $10 a day no matter what time you show up. Isreal, our taxi driver escorted us to the fish market in La Libertad. That is an experience not to be missed if you are interested in the local Ecuadorian lifestyle. The fish was great! We had Christmas Eve dinner at Big Ralph's. Ralph is a Londoner and it was fabulous. Look him up on Trip Advisor. We had nice ceviche and fish stew at the Sol Cafeteria right on the Malecon. If you love the beach this is a great spot. We really enjoyed our stay.
The great - the Condo has beautiful finishing's. They really remodeled it nicely, the kitchen is incredible with pretty much everything you would need to get by. The TV is huge with a high level DirecTV package (NFL package as an example). The views are unbeatable, pretty much a view from every room of every part of the peninsula. The location is right in the middle of Salinas so very easy to walk either way for entertainment or a stroll on the beach. Wi-Fi available in the condo is probably as fast as you can get in Salinas - very solid speed and reliable. The building is secure and the security attendants are great - they even washed our car for us one day! Jaime is very helpful and speaks perfect English.
The not so perfect - the location is very central and we were there on a holiday weekend...the windows are too thin to protect you from the massive amounts of noise that is Salinas on a weekend (probably any normal weekend as well). There is soccer being played at the yacht club until midnight on the weekend with the noise coming straight to the unit. Then the back side where the master is, is subject to the endless car alarms chirping and police spinning their siren to let the police house know across the street they were checking in. It became much much better during the week when everyone left town - but you still get the occasional car alarm that no one will shut off all night long. Nothing much to do about this down side of the location other than not stay over a weekend and bring some ear plugs.
The one thing the owners could do something about - there was clearly some very heavy smoking going on in the condo for quite some time. At least one room there was no possibility to get the smell out as it was extremely bad - probably needs new paint at the very least to try to shake the smell - most likely would take replacing all the furnishings in that bedroom.
One last thing that could be improved pretty easily - we were only given one key...so if for some reason we wanted to split up we were stuck with having to coordinate schedules.
Overall - a very nice place. Be prepared for noise on a weekend and to either not use the super smoky bedroom (or hopefully they try to shake the scent).
