About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Loft, 2 Baths, (Sleeps up to 6)

The Cabin at Green Mountain is located three miles south of Nemo, a tiny mountain town set in the picturesque valley of Boxelder Creek. Central to Deadwood, Sturgis, Rapid City and Hill City, our convenient location let’s you visit top attractions while providing a special haven of rest and relaxation.

The cabin is nestled under tall pines on the edge of a strikingly beautiful and secluded Black Hills meadow. The view from the front porch across a sweep of pasture, ringed by steep rock ridges and dense pine and spruce, is punctuated be a sheer white limestone cliff rising in the distance. This private little valley is graced by Jim Creek. The diverse flora and quietly tumbling creek attract a wide variety of Black Hills animals and birds.

Enjoy relaxing on the front porch, hiking in the woods, trout fishing in the creeks, cross-country skiing, birding, golf courses, restaurants and all major Black Hills attractions.

The brilliantly redesigned 1910 building features a lofted cathedral ceiling and a large field-stone, gas fireplace. Three sleeping areas accommodate up to six people. The main level has a full bath, a well-equipped kitchen and dining area, a comfortable living room, and a bedroom with bunk beds and a queen bed. Upstairs, the open loft holds a double fold out futon. This area also can be used as a second living room and has a special parquet card table perfect for games, puzzles or projects. An upstairs master bedroom has a queen bed and a private full bath.

About The Owner

Your hosts, Mark and Mary Zimmerman are both professional artists, avid students of the history, geology, flora and fauna of the Black Hills. Their house, barn, and their Green Ink Gallery and Studios are located nearby on this same 30 acre original homestead which is surrounded by the Black Hills National Forest.

What makes this cabin unique

Undeniably one of the most beautiful properties in the Black Hills, this serene little valley is a special haven, a place of solace, where it is possible to truly rest, relax, and deeply recharge. This is a place where it is entirely natural to make special memories that will last a lifetime.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This is without a doubt the coziest cabin we've ever stayed in! Mary and her lovely dog Donner came to check in on us upon arrival, and both she and her husband were extremely warm and accommodating to us. The views were stunning, and they always left the lights on for us when we got back in the evenings. I would recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a relaxing weekend in the hills!

Quiet, relaxing setting

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay. Mark and Mary have a beautiful setting, with a large pasture and beautiful horses to enjoy watching while relaxing at their place, tucked back in the hills of Nemo.

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

I can’t imagine there is a better place to stay in the whole Black Hills; the cabin is gorgeous and the forest surrounding it even more so. Mary and Mark we very kind hosts and took the time to teach our little ones about the mosses, flowers, and animals of the Black Hills. It was a perfect vacation.

Gorgeous, quiet weekend.

  • 5 of 5

A few of us gathered for a weekend of quiet, beauty, friendship, and a 1/2 marathon nearby. The cabin was everything we'd hoped. The photos truly show the wonder of this place. We hope to return.

Beautiful location and cabin!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I had an amazing, relaxing get-away at this secluded, cozy cabin! The views were amazing from the front porch and we enjoying doing some short hikes around the property. We also loved the big fireplace! Thank you again- this was the perfect place for our ‘babymoon’!
