About Tom McCroskey

This was our family home for many years. It was extensively remodeled in the late 90's because we knew that the next phase would be entertaining friends, family and visitors as guests, and having a place where people can socialize as they like, find seclusion when they want, and retire to their own bed and bathroom for complete privacy when needed.

Tom McCroskey purchased this chateau / country house in 1965

What makes this chateau / country house unique

Privacy is certainly one of the greatest benefits of this property, while at the same time being close to the National Park, Foothills Parkway, the lakes and the attractions of Townsend, Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. It's a great place to stay, especially if you have a large family or want to plan a reunion or getaway with friends. Everyone has their own bathroom, and there's tons of room to spread out.

Great family home away from home.

  • 5 of 5

This has been one of the best vacation stays by far. We are use to staying in hotels every year and we decided to try something different with renting the cabin. The pictures are true to what the cabin looks like. There is plenty of room for big families to stay and not be crowded. The outside is beautiful and our kids enojoyed hiking down to the small stream at the bottom of the hill behind the house. We were about an hour away from Gatlinburg and Piegon Forge but the drive there was beautiful. Tubing down the river that was located a few miles away was well worth the money. This will be the place we look into again if we decide to come back this way.

Home Base for our group

  • 5 of 5

We were in the area for a long Memorial Day weekend vacation, touring the area on our motorcycles. We had 4 couples, and wanted to stay in a house instead of a hotel and found this place. It's perfect for a group. There is lots of shade, and plenty of sitting space on the large deck. The kitchen is great and we cooked every meal rather than go out to eat. We played games in the dining room after dinner. Plenty of privacy for everyone, but also enough room for your group to gather together. We met Tom, he's a great guy, and helped us with questions a couple of times. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Spring in the Smokies

  • 4 of 5

My group has stayed at this home several times. We always look forward to coming back. It is always clean and well furnished. The rooms are situated so that everyone can have privacy if wanted, or be with everyone in the same room. The property is beautiful with many wildflowers and trees. The views are interesting and the cows in the pasture visited close to the house one afternoon. Staying here is like being in a friend's home. It is convenient to the national park, the Foothills Parkway and shops in Townsend, too.

Beautiful setting for our holiday get away.

  • 4 of 5

This property was ideal for our extended family mini-vacation.

There was plenty of room for all eleven of us to relax, play games, read and relax.

The kitchen is large and well equipped and family meal prep was easy and enjoyable.

The location was convenient to our many trips to Cades Cove, Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and the National Parks.

Peaceful and quite

  • 4 of 5

We was looking for a place away from the noise of town just to enjoy the beauty of the mountains and spend time with family ,the kitchen was large enough for everyone to be in and not be in everyone's way the bedrooms are all private we enjoyed our stay their. It would be nice if there would be better setting in the game room.

There are several lakes in the area with easy access. They are, however, at least 45 minutes away with no rental type services. If you have your own boat, skis and/or wakeboard, call the owner to see if this location would work for you.

The creek on property provides opportunities for splashing around and catching crawdads and there are some small holes deep enough for swimming.
