Guestbook comments from the owner

This was by far the best summer we've had yet! The house was awesome; the fun never stopped! The hike up Cadillac Mountain was strenuous, but the view was amazing. The fact that it's the "quiet side" of the island, and that it's just down the road to Main Street, and The Upper Deck. This was an awesome experience here in Southwest Harbor! Five Stars!

Cozy, quaint cottage in an amazing location

  • 5 of 5

We were absolutely thrilled with our stay at Maria's cottage. The property is exactly as advertised with a ton of great amenities and located very close to SW Harbor. Kitchen is fully stocked with every cooking apparatus you could need. Washer/dryer is a great bonus, especially with kids. To top it all off, the owners purchased a treat for me since we arrived on my birthday. Very thoughtful and definitely above and beyond what we expected. I would absolutely recommend staying at this property if you have young kids, a dog and like living close to the 'action' of SW Harbor.

Delightful family base for MDI

  • 5 of 5

We could not have been happier with Robin's Nest. The house was charming, immaculately clean, and fully equipped for our two-week stay. We cooked in the kitchen every day and found everything we needed; our two kids loved playing in the yard and relaxing under the tree in front. Living room with harbor view is lovely... The whole house gets great breezes to cool down on a hot day. Comfortable beds, newly updated bathroom, wonderful deck overlooking the back yard. We didn't want to leave!

We had a lovely time in this house. Maria is very helpful and answers texts very quickly. The house is equipped with everything one would need to cook meals or wash clothes. The house is beautifully furnished. We felt very comfortable. The kids had fun running around in the backyard.

Like being at home!

  • 5 of 5

This house was comfortable, extremely clean and in a great area away from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor. We really enjoyed the view of southwest harbor and the ease of getting back and forth into town. All of the beds were comfortable and the bathroom while a little "dated" was fine and with awesome water pressure! Beautiful yard and the neighbors attracted many hummingbirds with their feeders. It is a small residential area but there was no noise and it felt safe. There is no real air conditioning, which at first I thought might be an issue, but there are many fans including window fans for both windows and this was more than adequate. I would highly recommend this house and area to any future Bar Harbor vacationers!

Nice vacation home in a great location.

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I booked our stay at Robin's Nest because of it's location. This was our 3rd trip to Southwest Harbor. This was the best location we have had. The house was clean and as pictured in the listing. It had most of what you would need in the kitchen for a vacation. Could use a couple larger pots, which we recommended. We had everything we needed for our 5 night stay. The living area was comfy and there was a nice breeze from the water with the windows open. We enjoyed seeing the lights in the harbor from the upstairs bedrooms. A short walk down the street brings you right to the dock, although it is private. The view is great from that location. The bed was comfy but you do need a fan on a warm night. Fans are provided. The bathroom is small but adequate for what we needed. Plenty of towels and beach towels if you plan to visit Sand Beach. The Upper Deck restaurant is a short walk or drive down the road if you like a casual atmosphere and great food. The staff is very friendly. Other options are not far away. The Food Mart just out of town has all you would need to prepare your own meals. Many thanks to Maria for her help booking her cute vacation home on just a couple of weeks notice. We reached her easily by phone and she was very willing to help us in any way she could. We would recommend her rental and would stay here again if we get up to Southwest Harbor again.

The perfect getaway spot

  • 5 of 5

We were the second guests to stay at Robin’s Nest, and had a fabulous vacation. With a toddler and dog, we had many specifications: close proximity to Acadia's sites, open space for our dog, safe for a clumsy toddler bent on independent exploration, and good amenities for cooking/ BBQing, just to name a few. And, this cottage met and exceeded all of these expectations.

The location is perfect – while on the “quiet side of the island,” the area is brimming with things to do. The "downtown" is cute, with shops, a library, and good restaurants (many have outdoor seating and are dog friendly). It’s a 10-minute drive from a number of Acadia attractions, such as the Seawall beach area and the Wonderland hiking trail (perfect for little ones). In addition, it was about a ~20 minute drive to more well-known attractions of Acadia, such as Cadillac Mountain and Jordan Pond. We really enjoyed being close to everything we wanted to see, but not in an overwhelmingly busy area of the island.

In addition, the cottage is incredibly well-kept, beautiful, and comfortable. The view of the harbor from the sitting room window is stunning, and there is a well-landscaped backyard and small apple orchard to explore. The neighborhood is very quiet as well, so you don’t have to worry about cars barreling down the street (which is good, especially when you have an off-leash dog and toddler).

And, the owners are incredibly hospitable and responsive. We arrived following a tropical storm, and the power had gone out in the whole neighborhood. While we were without power for the first few days of our trip, the owners set us up with a generator to power the fridge and hot water, flashlights, and candles. And, they kept in touch with us throughout the beginning of our trip to update us on the status of the power and respond to any of our needs. While the power situation was completely out of their control, they struck the perfect balance of attentiveness, while maintaining boundaries to give us privacy. Turns out that the power outage was the perfect way for my family to unplug and really relax, so it actually ended up being a real benefit to our vacation. But, to be clear, there is cable, Internet, and anything you need if you want to stay plugged in … barring another tropical storm.

We couldn’t recommend this cottage more highly. It’s tempting to keep it as a secret so we don’t have competition to stay there – but, it’s way too lovely to keep to ourselves. Enjoy!
