Sea View Breathtaking: Prinolithos Villa!!

Bedrooms 4
Property type villa

Photos and Description of this Vamos holiday villa

4 Bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms, Sleeps 10

Originally built in 2001 and renovated in 2011, the Prinolithos villa stands proudly on the highest point of these privately owned grounds. The stone and gravel decorated driveway leads the length of the way from the property's green gate to the villa's front door passing a small cedar tree forest, well-kept gardens with rose-bushes, herbs, flowers, vineyards and lush lemon and pomegranate trees.

The villa, which can accommodate up to 10 people, is made up of an open-plan kitchen and living area, 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a large outdoor furnished balcony, an independent poolside guesthouse (sleeps four and has its own small kitchen and bathroom), built-in barbecue, a table tennis table (ping-pong), and an infinity swimming pool.

A 200 year old mill-stone, used in the past to grind wheat and other grains, decorates the villas main entrance door and sets the tone of what lies just beyond. The traditional, village-style open plan kitchen and living room with fireplace instantly make you feel at home. Large wooden doors lead out to a very spacious furnished balcony with views to the swimming pool, olive trees and the beach of Almyrida.

On this same level one will find two bedrooms and one bathroom with a bathtub and a washing machine. The one bedroom has a double bed and balcony doors which lead out to the large balcony overlooking the pool, the other has two single beds (which can be joined) and with balcony doors leading out to the villas entrance patio.

The third bedroom (maisonette-style) is upstairs. Within this room, wooden stairs lead up to two single beds on the ondas level; traditionally decorated with wooden floors, high wooden ceilings, a chest, quaint windows, a computer area and another bathroom (with shower). For here too there is a balcony from which to enjoy the views.

At poolside level, villa Prinolithos also features a guesthouse; ideal for those who wish to holiday with you while still maintain privacy away from the main house or even for you to make use of this extra kitchen, living and rest area- an extra convenience by way of its proximity to the swimming pool.

This poolside guesthouse has an independent entrance, an open plan kitchenette and living area with two sofas (which can be made up as two single beds), a slightly separated sleeping area with two single beds and a bathroom with shower.

Use of the guesthouse is always a given (regardless of the number of persons staying at the villa).

The uniquely shaped infinity swimming pool, decorated with mosaic and stones collected painstakingly by the owners themselves and surrounded by almond and oak trees, measures 50sqm with depths from 1.1m to 1.9m. The areas around the pool include the furnished terrace, outdoor shower, pergola, sun loungers and umbrellas.

An interesting characteristic of Prinolithos villas is the grape press located on the villa's grounds. This is a large permanent stone structure where the grapes are placed into after harvest and the owners stand on the grapes to begin the process of making village wine and grape essence.

There are also a couple of mountain bicycles available so that you may ride along the mountain pathways, and the owner kindly supplies pool and beach towels.

Top villa with beautiful garden and swimming pool.

Villa Prinolithos is a beautiful villa. It's located a few km from Vamos and Gavalochori, you can go to this places by walking or by car, walking takes about 25 minutes. The property is very well taking care up and was perfect clean upon arrival, during our stay it was very well taking care of by the cleaners. When we arrived Anna and Athonis (the owners) were there and explained everything to us. The service from them and from all the other involved was really perfect, in case of any problem just call them and it's arranged (we had problem with the water and it was cleared the same day)! We have been walking around Vamos, visiting Chania, Rethymnon and had a dive cursus. The boat trip to Balos and Gramvoussa was beautiful and exciting, you should do this. For breakfast (in case you don't take it at home go to Almerida to The Cafe Francoise (cheap, friendly and very good with fresh orange juice. All the resaurants in Gavalochori were more than good and really cheap. Real good food and prices as well in Taverna Babis in Geourgipoulis and everywhere dessert for free!! But the best of food and service was one km from Vamos... restaurant Parasia is the best, top service, try the salads and for children very good chickensouvlaki. We would highly recommend this villa and Apokoronas in general. Thanks Anna and Athonis and we will return!!

Relaxed and happy holidays in Villa Prinolithos

  • 5 of 5

We had very nice and quiet vacation. The outside area around the pool is very nice and invites to sunbath and to stay outside all day long. The villa is a little outside the village Gavalohory and the access is via a dirt road. The property is keept clean and nice. We enjoyed our holiday very much and would like to say many thanks to Anna and Antonis.

Exceptional and well thought out

  • 5 of 5

I had a really wonderful time here. The house is really nice and has a beautiful view. Very clean and well maintained and has everything that is listed in the description and more. The owners really thought about everything, we had inflatable pool accessories, bicycles, food to welcome us until we got settled in, laundry, an ironing board, a hair dryer, and so much more. We really had everything we needed! This house is pretty close to the main village where you can find some nice restaurants. It is also pretty close to the beach. The owners themselves are also very welcoming and will do whatever they can to make your stay a good one. The fact that you are a little higher up adds to the experience, one night the church below had priests chanting, it was very peaceful and beautiful, I feel very lucky to have experienced that. I highly recommend Prinolithos Villa and hope I can make it out there again!

Relax and privacy in a wonderful environment

  • 5 of 5

As soon as arrived we could appreciate the kindness of Anna and Angeliki who welcome us in their wonderful home. The amazing view from the front of the house and the pool will stay forever in our memory. All in the house was perfect and absolutely confortable. We had a very relaxing vacation ... only too short! Thanks Anna also for the delicious sweets which made our leaving a little bit sweeter. Wish to have the opportunity to come back in the future!

It doesn't get better than this

  • 5 of 5

This is our third time at Villa Prinolithos and we just can't get enough of the place. After a lovely, winding drive up from the nearest village, Gavalachori, you will be amazed at the incredible view on arrival.

You won't get a better outdoor area to enjoy this view from, and never tire of watching the ships roll in and out of Souda Bay, and planes flying in and out of the airport. Not to mention staring out over the valley, relishing sunrise and sunsets alike...

The pool is incredible, clean and large.

Anna and her team are welcoming and friendly, as are the locals we have met here over the last three Summers.

Thanks for the memories Crete...

Honestly one of the nicest holiday properties I have ever stayed in. Anna was lovely to deal with via email and made sure that all of our concerns and queries were answered. She provided us with details of local sights, services, restaurants and even acted as intermediary between us and the car rental company. While the property is a little off the beaten track, her directions were comprehensive and safe to say, it was well worth the wait. Exceptionally well-equipped, the house was also spotless on arrival and Anna had even left us a bottle of wine in the fridge; very welcome after travelling for 10 hours! The charm of the house is exceeded only by the uninterrupted view down to the coast; genuinely the best panorama I saw throughout the duration of my stay in Crete. I would recommend this property to absolutely anyone. Young, or old, you're only a stone's throw from the vibrant port Chania, which has so much to offer in the way of activities (snorkelling-which I highly recommend-and watersports), restaurants and nightlife. If you're into clubbing, Platanias is only a half hour drive away and is sufficiently messy to keep even seasoned boozers amused! Also, the local taverna in Vamos (Sterna of Bloumosifis) is PHENOMENAL, both in terms of the quality of the food and value for money. The only caution I would extend to potential guests, is to book for a minimum of two weeks. We have just returned from a week at Prinolithos and wish we'd had another. Post-holiday blues guaranteed with this one I'm afraid...!
