About Connie Varoudakis
My husband and I live in the United States. He is from Crete and retired. I hope to retire in a few more years. We love this spot on Crete and want to share it with others. We have 3 children one of whom lives in Crete. We come to visit our grandchildren as often as possible. We can be reached in the United States at 9788288988.
Why Connie Varoudakis chose Chania
My husband and I built our house in Greece in the 70's. We lived for a year in Greece then but came back to the US when our children entered school. I am not Greek but learned to speak it and we came every year or two in the summer for our children to visit with family.
What makes this Studio unique
My Sister-in-Law, Antonia, will greet you and is famous for her Greek hospitality. She is known to share her delicious Greek delicacies.

Nice little studio good value for money
The studio was very pleasant with a sea view. It is approximately a 7 minute walk to a lovely beach with free sun beds from the Kalamaki beach bar . Lovely restaurants and bars close by. The only suggestion I would have is that a small toaster and possibly an electric kettle would be useful. Otherwise we had a fantastic holiday and I would fully recommend this apartment and resort.
We found the unit to be in a perfect location making our holiday in Crete most memorable. Daily we walked to the beach, had a coffee while taking advantage of their internet. The local bus service made it easy to travel to other beaches or into Chania. Nightly we had a choice of restaurants or taverns . Although the unit was fitted with the very basic needs for cooking we found it was all we required and we never missed a television as we enjoyed sitting on the balcony drinking a local wine and enjoying the view .
Crete is lovely, apartment lacking
We stayed for a week in this property. While the apartment itself was fine, good layout etc., we had continuing issues during our stay with there being Lights that did not work or no water. Upon arrival the air conditioning didn't work but they did get someone in to fix it. We had to firstly find someone to let us in to the apartment upon arrival. The emails from owner made it sound like she was there when in fact she resides in the USA and has an onsite custodian with very limited English which made getting anything fixed a big problem. The beach and area nearby was nice and we enjoyed the townspeople very much. Anyone with mobility issues should be aware there are three flights of stairs to reach the apartment. One other suggestion to the owner would be to have some welcoming maps, tour ideas, etc upon arrival. We felt we were left to our own devices to find local stores, etc. a simple label on some of the cupboards would aid guests in where to find things like linens and towels, instructions for washing machine.
We are happy that you enjoyed our unit by the sea, surrounding area and the Cretan people. We wish some things could have been avoided so that your stay would have been as seemless as it is for other guests. There are times that light bulbs burn out (and replaced immediately) or a utility has a problem (that is responded to immediately though we are at the mercy of repair persons' schedules). As it states on my listing with HomeAway/VRBO, I reside in the US (and visit Crete as much as possible). My Sister-in-Law, Antonia, is a gracious host in my absence. My listing also states that it is on the second floor (with a great view of the Aegean Sea and olive groves) and is a consideration for some with mobility issues. We would like to accommodate everyone and are working towards that end. Our welcome Notebook contains much information about the local area amenities, bus schedules, activites, sights, etcmany of our guests add there own information to it as well making it a 'living document' for future guests. I will take into consideration making labels for closets and cupboards so that are household items are easy to locate. Thank you for your feedback and we will use it to make sure our guests will have the best experience possible in Crete.
We had a wonderful time in a very cozy, clean, and relaxing spot. I only would ask for more orientation on part of the host-more information on arrival, updated ways on how to get places, and some information about the immediate surroundings. We felt quite lost when we arrived, but made very good connections in Kalamaki and Antonia was absolutely wonderful
Very nice Appartment
We stayed for 5 nights in the Appartment and enjoyed it very much. The View from the balkony was very nice and the area was calm. Kitchen was complete for some cooking and having cofee in the morning. Only thing was that because of the storm in 2 nights there was a disturbing noise from the balkony, maybe from the electric cable which was hanging in the wind, we didnt find out.
Everything else was perfect. Any time again.
My husband and I loved our three week stay in Chania. The property was the perfect fit and exceeded our expectations. The balcony overlooking olive trees and the ocean provided a peaceful morning retreat for a sunrise coffee. The convenience of the location provided ample access to beaches and Chania. And the hospitality of our hostess Antonia was unsurpassed. Connie was also a delight in coordinating our visit. I would (and have) highly recommend this home to friends. Although we enjoyed many restaurants across Crete, the simple gyro place around the corner provided my favorite Greek salad and gyro combos. And the grocery next to it supplied all of our needs, including those scrumptious chocolate wafers. Then there are the beaches in Plantania and Big Beach to the west. But even the little local beach just up the street proved a sublime experience. Then, a bit east to the port of Chania provided some history, shopping and cruises, such as Nick's Glass Bottom Boat. If you do take one of the cruises bring your swim suit and towel for optimal fun. We have happy put this property at the top of our list for places to stay when I visit Crete again.
Situated only a 5 minute walk from one of the most popular beaches in Chania, the sandy beach of Kalamaki. The property is just 4 km west from the city of Chania and the fascinating Venetian harbor, with regular bus service and 16 km drive from the airport. Great location. Walk to beaches, restaurants, taverns, and convenience stores.
