Our cabin(Home) was custom built by John Hanley and has features we don't think you will find in other cabins in our area. The construction was completed in 2006. The property had an old cabin that had been abandoned and was a simple concrete block structure with a slanted flat roof. John cleaned out the structure except for the foundation and block walls. Reinforcing the block walls, he then built the present cabin on that block wall foundation. The old cabin living area is now a finished basement with a kitchenette, bathroom, and family room with a gas fireplace. There is a separate entrance for the basement and outside is a separate deck from the main level.
The main level of the cabin is very open and surrounded on two sides by a wrap around deck. There is a covered front porch for the main entrance that opens to a small foyer. Once inside you are in the kitchen which leads to a two story vaulted family room. The family room has a gas fireplace and across the front wall are floor length windows with views of Bear Creek. Off the kitchen is the master bedroom with a private bath and shower.
From the family room there are stairs that take you to the second floor to two secondary bedrooms that share a Jack and Jill bath. At the landing for the second floor you can look out the front windows of the vaulted family room with the views of Bear Creek.
There is a utility room on the first floor with a washer/dryer.
The kitchen has a range oven, Over the range hood/microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher and garbage disposal. There is an island in the kitchen that has stools to eat there plus there is a dining table in the family room area.
The main level is all hardwood floors. The interior doors are all solid pine. The exterior of the cabin is cedar siding. All the windows in the cabin are insulated glass.
John Hanley and John Duckworth both grew up in Booneville, Mississippi along with our spouses who are sisters, Sue and Judi Newborn. Pickwick Lake and Eastport has been a part of our lives since childhood. And now it is a part of the lives of our children and grand children. The cabin has been and will continue to be a place for vacations and holidays.
John Duckworth purchased this cabin in 2006
We feel Eastport is the best place to be on the lake. We are a little out of the way but it is not as busy as some parts of the lake. We get to enjoy being on the water, fishing or just going out for a late afternoon boat ride. Or we can just sit out on the front deck and enjoy the water views. There are plenty of deer to see around the cabin and if your lucky while sitting out on the deck you might get to see an eagle soaring above you.
Time with family and friends are what makes great memories. Our cabin has provided the place that we have been able to do this for several years now. I hope you will find our place inviting and comfortable so that you can make your own memories.
We enjoyed our stay, the house is very nice, everything you need to be comfortable! The owners are very nice and accommodating. We had 2 trucks and 2 boats and parking was a little tight but manageable. Pickwick Lake is awesome! Eastport marina and ramp is only 1/2 mile away-this is at mid lake. Iuka is a nice little town about 6 miles away for gas/food/groceries, not the place to stay if you are looking for night life but great place for a family vacation at the lake! Verizon has almost no cell service at the house, AT&T has good cell service all over the area. Would definitely stay here again!
This house was perfect for our needs. It had plenty of parking and room for us to spread out. The house was clean and John gave us a great walk through upon our arrival. I recommend this house to other vrbo travelers.
As always, we had another wonderful stay at this beautiful house. We love this area as it is not as crowded on the lake. Eastport Marina was great in letting us rent pontoon boats. The house has a beautiful view of the lake and plenty of room for all of our guests. We can't wait to get back again!
Wonderful weekend get away! We were met upon our arrival and showed around the home. Home was very comfortable and clean. Had a great time enjoying the view and meeting the neighbors while out walking. A definite recommend for those who want a relaxing time away from home.
Fantastic home, great owners to work with, and wonderful view! This was a weekend get away for my wife and I with my brother and his wife. The house was clean and comfortable. Met a few neighbors while out walking and all were all quite friendly. Would definitely recommend this for anyone looking for some time on the lake, We will definitely be back!
We stayed at this beautiful home for the long holiday weekend. The house was just perfect with a great view of the lake. We spent every night on the back deck enjoying the scenery. There was a grill provided with all the accessories for easy use. Our kids had the best time and want to go back as soon as possible. We were able to rent a pontoon at Eastport marina down the street and had a blast. There was also a beach nearby we went fishing at. It really is a great spot on the lake. John was great to work with when booking the property. Very easy process and they took great care of us. I would highly recommend this home, and we hope to be back very soon!
Eastport Marina, a full-service marina, is just a 1/2 mile back down to Eastport Road. The marina has a repair shop, restaurant, fuel, short-term slip rentals and also boat rentals. Their phone number is 662-423-6972.
Within an hour's drive you have Shiloh National Military Park, Tishomingo State Park, and The Civil War Interpretive Center at Corinth. In Iuka you have the Mineral Springs Park.
