Just like I remembered when I was growing up.
If you are looking to move for a week into your past, into a place that you remember from your childhood, into a more peaceful time of going for Ice cream at the general store in the evening and sitting on the front porch and eating the ice cream, of going next door at nine when the general store opens and talking to the locals that gather there to drink coffee and talk of anything but politics or religion, of going for a walk and stopping at the antique shop and not worrying about the traffic that is almost non existent, going to the lake to spend a beautiful day, then you will not want to miss this place, as it was made for you. I full well expected to see aunt Bee, Barney and Sheriff Taylor stop by to chat. Millersburg and and the Amish area are only about 35 miles away and you can eat a great meal or visit shops and pick up those items that are unavailable anywhere else, this is the place to be. There was plenty more to see and do, but truthfully I did not want to miss a day of kite flying in the back yard and playing boccie ball to do much in the line of looking for commercialization and the present day. Family Gathering for a Birthday Celebration
The property was perfect for my family. The house was lovely and the kitchen was amazing. The one thing that really surprised me was that the house was larger than the pictures portrayed. All seven of us were very happy with the house, the yard and outdoor area.

About the host

I grew up in Texas but my roots are in Deersville. This is my great grandparent's home and I spent every summer here until it was sold years ago. It is a dream come true to own my grandpa's house in Deersville!

Why they chose this property

Hazel was my grandmother and she grew up here as did my mother. This house is beautiful and we restored her to original 1850's beauty but added our Texas touches. Fully furnished kitchen and bath, everything you need to relax or explore.

What makes this property unique

The 100 year old Deersville General Store is right next door with their world famous homemade ice cream! You will love the peace and quiet at Hazel's House. But this little village is a busy place in the summer with the Deersville Community Players theater productions on weekends and Tappan Lake and Clendenning Lake Parks literally just down the road. The Buckeye Trail loop is nearby for hiking, and miles of scenic byways wind their way through Harrison County. Amish country is an hour away and check out the Train Museum and depot in Dennison, 12 miles west. Or you can simply relax on the porch swing and do nothing at all.
