About Steven Young

Architect with a slight obsession for historic homes.

Steven Young purchased this house in 2010

Why Steven Young chose Connecticut Shore

We bought this home as our dream home in downtown Mystic. The water views are so relaxing with the sailboats of the Seaport all day long. Hear the drawbridge horn yet you are far enough away from the Main Street traffic. You can walk to nearly EVERYTHING from this location. We love to sit on the front steps with our coffees and watch the runners & cyclists go by.

What makes this house unique

Natural light galore. Very high ceilings. Water views from most rooms.

Magical Girls' Weekend Getaway

  • 5 of 5

Six old friends descended on this beautiful getaway for three nights of catching up, game playing and relaxation. Sitting out back watching the water was super restorative. Even though it doesn't face exactly due West, this is a GREAT place for a sunset. Open a bottle of wine and enjoy. (It can get a little buggy in the evening so bring bug spray, so that doesn't get in the way of you enjoying the view.) The open kitchen floor plan was great for catching up. We got some "heat and eat" trays of food from Mystic Market. It was no fuss and delicious. The cozy living area was great for games and cards and lounging. Walking to town was easy and beautiful, we hardly drove anywhere. We had dinner at Bora Bora one night and the Treehouse at the Oyster Co. Both were delicious. If you want to take an afternoon or sunset sail, we can recommend Dawn and Darren from Poet's Lounge Charter's.

The three bedrooms were comfortable and nicely appointed and the 2.5 baths were great for 6 girls. :)

Working with the owners was easy and the next door neighbors are super friendly and delightful. We miss it already!

Great location and very nice home

  • 5 of 5

I was looking for a peaceful location in Mystic where one could walk into town, and this home was exactly that! One can take great walks around historic Mystic and along the river roads as well as walk into town. Highly recommended.

Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in Mystic many times, either in hotels or other rental properties. This house was superior to any other stay! The location is less than 1/2 mile to downtown (a lovely walk) and in the other direction--River Road, which is fabulous to walk/run on for exercise. The kitchen of this home is so welcoming with it's wall of windows and various sitting areas that that is where we were 90% of the time. The TV room was comfy for three to watch TV and the other more formal rooms we didn't use at all as the weather was perfect for being outside. We enjoyed the backyard immensely and sat outside with morning coffee or evening cocktails to enjoy the views of the sailboats and Mystic River.

We had a slight hiccup with the home not being cleaned yet when we arrived late afternoon. We had just driven 1200 miles from Tennessee so were quite tired. The owner was quickly on it and cleaners arrived within an hour and they offered to refund one night which I thought was fair.

If this house is available on dates your are looking at, I would snatch it up! It was a wonderful stay.
