Nestled on the scenic Coral Coast of Fiji's main island of Viti Levu, just a 1-1/2 hr drive south of Nadi Airport, rests the luxurious Villa La Jolla. This exquisite beachfront villa sits on 3/4 acre in a gated community, surrounded by a mature forest of coconut palms and nearly 110 ft of beach that fronts a lagoon with snorkeling just steps from your back door. This property is ideal for families or couples seeking relaxation with private swimming pool and spectacular views, yet proximate to high adventure activities.
A custom- designed residence built in 2009, Villa La Jolla offers all the comforts of home in an extraordinary setting. Three elegant rooms connect to a spacious lounge/kitchen with panoramic ocean views. Two of the rooms are oceanfront while the third looks into a tropical garden. Each room is air conditioned and contains an ensuite bath with shower (Orchid suite contains a large jetted spa tub) plush king-sized bed, 42' flat screen TV with DVD player and ceiling fans. A covered walkway conveniently adjoins each room to the central lounge/kitchen area.
The beautifully appointed lounge is air conditioned and equipped with a flat screen TV, Blu-ray DVD and satellite TV. The large, state-of- the- art kitchen features palmwood cabinetry fabricated by Fiji's famous Pacific Green Furniture Co., modern appliances and ample room for family dining.
Just outside, watch the waves sweep over the reef beyond the lagoon while relaxing in the horizon- edged beachfront pool with jacuzzi.
Hard to believe our vacation has already come to an end. As many who have stayed before us have mentioned, the accommodations at Villa La Jolla are exceptional! We so enjoyed our morning coffee poolside, daily snorkeling and paddle boarding in our own backyard - which at times felt like our own private oceanside beach! And of course there were the dinners on the patio while enjoying the calm evening breezes. So relaxing.
We also truly enjoyed our daily visits with Dharna - our darling momma-to-be. She's a delightful house manager, event coordinator and cook! We so enjoyed getting to know her and learn a bit more about Fiji, its customs, people and places, and look forward to receiving pictures of her with her new baby come July!
Funny/memorable moments included daily visits from pups we affectionally named Skinny and Squirt - who adopted us (or the other way around)! The cattle drive we saw along the beach.... horses along the roadside... and stargazing in the evenings.
As for excursions, don't miss rafting the Upper Navua with River Fiji and as suggested in previous reviews, be sure to ask for Moses. He's a hoot! A snorkeling (or diving) trip to Beqa Passage - Nemo's Playground - is a must!
And though we didn't make it to the nearby Eco Cafe (closed Wed & Thurs), we had two exceptional experiences at restaurants located in the Warwick Resort - Wicked Walu (seafood); and Pappagallo (Italian & Seafood). Both our meals and the service were outstanding. In fact the wait staff at Pappagallo broke into song on our last night in Fiji with a song of 'farewell and safe travels' - a memory we'll cherish forever. (P.S. Todd... Posita says Vinaka!).
Overall this was one of the best vacations and Homeaway/VRBO rental experiences we've had. Jerry, we thank you so much for sharing your slice of paradise with us!
The Mosers and Haflichs
We were three couples that stayed for a week. From the time we first saw this listing it looked ideal for what we wanted. Jerry was helpful and responsive from the beginning. Villa La Jolla was even better than the pictures. The setting is amazing with the house configured with the three bedroom suites around the kitchen, living room and pool areas. It is beautifully designed with all the glass doors opening onto the patio. We made great use of the pool and jacuzzi. The beach is right there and we snorkeled, kayaked and used the paddle board in the lagoon. The house has beautiful stone bathrooms. Jerry even provided adapters for the plugs! We did the Upper Navua rafting trip which was a lot of fun. A couple of the guys did some diving near Pacific Harbor. The Maui Bay market is close and we walked there numerous times, but as others have noted, the prices are high and limited groceries. The taxis seem to always be there which was convenient. Dharna was helpful with information many times. We felt well taken care of at Villa La Jolla and highly recommend staying here! We had beautiful weather almost our whole week, despite the forecast for rain every day. Thanks Jerry for taking great care of us and sharing your wonderful place!
As soon as My husband and I walked into the tropical gardens of Villa La Jolla and could see the beach and pool right out the front,we knew it's was going to be a special holiday that we will never forget. Jerry has created a real home away from home with everything you need to make your holiday special. Good quality beds and pillows, fully equiped kitchen and friendly staff that make
you smile! Jerry is a great host and a real lovely person. We enjoyed two weeks of watching the sunset every night straight out the front. You can buy Australian and New Zealand wines across the road at the Maui bay supermarket. Horse riding on the beach and paddle boards and canoes that Jerry provides. The beach is filled with coloured fish and feels like you're swimming in a big fish tank. The infinity pool is stunning and warm enough to swim at night. We will be back for sure! Thanks Jerry,Dharna and Ashnet for an relaxing and rejuvenating holiday! See you again soon. ❤️😎🌴
First, I want to apologize to Jerry. We stayed at this beautiful home over a year ago, and we each thought the other had written a review. We actually stayed in December 2015, but the site wouldn't take our date.
This was the ultimate vacation getaway, and completely exceeded our dreams. Jerry thought of every detail in building this amazing home, and we still cannot believe our good fortune in finding Villa La Jolla. Our children, who live in other countries joined us for the holidays, and unfortunately, no other vacation home we have shown them for next Christmas will even come close to this one. Dharna was a jewel and prepared some amazing meals for us. Every person we encountered during our stay in Fiji made us feel so welcome.
The home has everything you could possibly need. The rooms are comfortable and nicely done. The beach facing glass doors all fold open to have a completely open unabstructed view. The pool appears to flow into the surf. Just perfect! Thank you Jerry for providing such a memorial stay for our family.
From the moment we arrived it was prefect. Realised perfection did exist. Everything you thought you needed was there. Nothing was an issue. Dharna (housekeeper) was very accommodating including doing a magnificent Fijian Christmas lunch. If you want a piece of paradise La Jolla is the place. Thank you Jerry. Hope to return one day.
The beach is awesome and the home has everything you could possibly need to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Location is convenient to both Nadi and Suva attractions. The grocery across the street is convenient, but overpriced and limited. Best get what you need in Nadi or Suva. Jerry goes out of his way to make sure things are perfect. I highly recommend staying here if you love the ocean and peace and quiet
Located between Nadi International Airport and Suva, this location offers easy access to the capitol city of Suva, nearby hotels and restaurants, including a newly built grocery/liquor store and a cafe just a short walk across the main highway. Local activities include snorkeling, excellent diving, horseback riding, waterfall and rainforest tours, golf , fishing. A 45-minute drive to the east you will find Pacific Harbor, known as the adventure capital of Fiji. Shark dive, ATV off-road tours and river rafting just to name a few of the adventure activities you'll find. For surfers, nearby Hideaways features one of the few paddle out surf breaks on the island, world famous Cloudbreak. Restaurants and Namotu Island are also accessible via local boats, but does require a 45-minute drive to the west.
