This tranquil palace in the woods is perched on seven lush, scenic acres across from a babbling river — enjoy the Beauty around your very own campfire pit before retiring to one of six elegantly appointed bedrooms.

New England Sophisticated

Rich hardwoods, intricate stonework, and handsome leather furniture set the scene in the open-concept living room. Gather here with hors d’oeuvres and wine before an immaculate meal served in the dining area, or find some quiet time by the wood stove in the warm and cozy lounge.

Upscale New England style and 4,700 sq. ft. of sunlit living space makes River Stone Lodge the perfect destination for holidays spent with family and friends. The chefs in your party will feel right at home in the country-style kitchen and in the outdoor grilling area. A breakfast bar and nook invite you to keep the cook company while they whip up their next culinary creation.

A surround sound system spans throughout the lodge. Queue up your favorite playlist to accompany you in the game room, where you can relax at the bar, challenge a friend to a foosball or billiards game, or pop a fresh batch of popcorn.

The luxurious lodge living doesn’t stop there, though — an indoor hot tub invites you for a relaxing soak beneath skylights. Prefer a starlit setting? Find another seven-person hot tub on the patio, plus ample seating for dining or kicking back to contemplate the trees.

Woodland Slumber

Whether you’re visiting Vermont with a group of friends or with extended family, there are accommodations for up to 15 guests between the six stunning bedrooms and the magical “treetops” loft area. River Stone Lodge is pet-friendly, too! We welcome you to bring two of your furry friends on your stay.

Sweet slumber is yours in the master suite, detailed with a plush king-size bed and an en-suite bath with jetted tub, walk-in shower, and gorgeous marble and stone accents.

with two twin-size beds. There’s also a secret room hidden somewhere in the house — we’ll leave it up to you to find out where!

The downstairs bath is handicap-accessible for added convenience, and two half baths ensure plenty of room for everyone to get ready before a night out in Middlebury.

About Kris Or Jane

I own another wonderful log cabin just 25 miles north of this gorgeous place! We have been renting it for 13 years. We have many requests every year for a larger rental for larger families and this is it! Join us at our Lodge! Where nature is 'everywhere'

Kris Or Jane purchased this house in 2014

Why Kris Or Jane chose Ripton

I have ALWAYS LOVED this part of Vermont! Just gorgeous! And when this opportunity came up to actually be able to buy a place here we were thrilled! With the river just across the road and being near the lake and skiing it was a perfect fit for our large extended family! and the beauty of the area plus the Mossalamoo recreational are right there and being so close to Middlebury also made it a perfect fit. It is a fun place! which was what we were looking for, we have 5 kids and 10 grand children and we wanted a vacation home that we could bring each family to, close to the river and skiing in the winter. This was a perfect for us and we thought many other families might enoy it to.

What makes this house unique

When I first drove up my mouth dropped open! It was LOVE at first sight and I had not even entered the house yet! For years I had taken this scenic Route and always thought what a beautiful part of Vermont it was. BUT upon entering this home my heart started to race! all the gorgeous details and Fun the builder had poured into this home. The wonderful surprises! like the stone work inside that drops two floors into the livingroom! and the SECRET ROOM! just to start! It was like walking into my dream fun vacation home! yet a it is warm inviting and HAPPY. All the windows and light, And just the FEEL made me say YES! And the AREA so beautiful! We feel blessed!

Great Family Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

The house and grounds are beautiful! Everyone had a great time and plenty of space to roam or find a little privacy of their own. We had 14 people and still had room for more. I would highly recommend this property. The owners responded to me immediately to answer my question. There was plenty to do inside and outside. Perfect for large groups.

Amazing House!

  • 5 of 5

This house was great! We fit 12 adults, an infant and a toddler. Everyone had plenty of space. The game room is great and we used the hot tub quite often. The back yard is a nice little oasis. The 3 and a half bathrooms definitely came in handy for our group. The house is immaculate and nicely updated. It is is about 40 minutes from Sugarbush if you ski but the Snow Bowl is right down the street which is a great little mountain. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely return!

We were in Vermont for a family winter vacation and to bring in the New Year. What a delightful time we all had at the Lodge! The rooms were spacious and very nicely appointed (the Christmas tree and additional holiday decorations created a warm and cozy atmosphere), and very clean! There was plenty of room for all of us to read, play games, cook, talk, and simply enjoy each others company. If we return to the area for another winter getaway, I wouldn't hesitate to stay at the Lodge again.

Plenty of space!

  • 5 of 5

We were a big group- 8 kids and 8 adults, but even so it was easy to get lost in the house. The layout takes some getting used to, but it's pretty convenient for a large group. The "secret room" will make any other rental house pale in comparison in the eyes of all the kids! The front yard is spacious for lawn games. The patio(s) are right next to the road, but they are fenced off and it's a mountain road- so not super busy. The drive to Burlington is beautiful and easy. It's a great space for a big group! We had a blast!

Owner's Response: Thank you for choosing us this year for your stay! We bought this house for the very reasons you mention, The cool layout, The size! And to our grandkids the "Secret Room!" In addition being near Middlebury and on scenic, Rt 125 was a plus especially in the winter. Makes it easy to find and to get to. We have guests stay with us who are attending functions all over the place, They turn it into a mini vacation and enjoy the beautiful scenic drives especially to Middlebury, Burlington, Addison and the other way to towards Sugarbush, Rochester I am so glad you had a blast! We hope to see you again in the future. God Bless, Ben & Kris
