'The Lonestar' is a Charming Houseboat Located in Sausalito Ca

Bedrooms 1
Space 37 m²
Property type house boat

About the property

House Boat, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

'The Lonestar' is a truly magical houseboat. Featured in books and magazines, it was recently used as the model for the houseboat in the CBS series 'Parenthood'.

The houseboat was built in the 1960's. The hull is a World War 2 Landing Craft, and some of the original features can still be seen.

The french doors and windows were salvaged from an old Victorian house in San Francisco.

The layout of the interior is featured in the book 'Houseboats', by Kathy Shaffer, AIA. The small space, 11 x 36, is brilliantly designed for the best ergonomic use and comfort.

The loveliest feature of the Lonestar is the quality of light and the reflection of the water, which shimmers in the boat all day much like a prism. There is never a sense of being indoors, rather a feel of being rocked on the water in an open boat.

'The Lonestar' is a special experience which you will remember with joy.

Keywords: A charming houseboat built in the 1960's from a World War 2 Landing Craft, 'The Lonestar' brings to mind the European canal boats. French windows lend a light and airy feel; morning brings the ducks to join you for breakfast on the front porch.

This vintage wooden hulled boat will delight you with it's sweet ambiance.

Amazing and magical stay!

  • 5 of 5

We can't explain how wonderful our stay on the Lone Star was... it exceeded all of our expectations in every way. The boat is charming, perfectly decorated, and has tons of history and character. Communication with a Susan was super easy. We highly recommend this property and hope to visit again in the future. Thank you for sharing your wonderful home, Susan!

Wonderfully romantic and charming

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on the Lonestar. It was magical falling asleep on the water and even more magical waking up in the beautiful Sausalito harbor and eating breakfast on the dock. The house boat is very comfortable, beautifully decorated and contains many fascinating objects. It is also in a great location - on the water, away from the hustle and bustle of the touristy parts of Sausalito. Although downtown Sausalito is not too far - a bike ride or long walk away. It is only a couple of blocks away from restaurants and a supermarket, and on the tourist bus route. We loved walking on the docks and viewing the other interesting house boats.
