The house has original wood floors throughout, two fireplaces (one huge), dutch doors, a renovated kitchen with many original features, and two great porches (one screened).
The backyard is large, level and has a fire pit.
RATES: For holiday weekends, we have a 3 night minimum and a premium; please see the Notes section under rates. Memorial Day weekend 2017 is also West Point graduation this year; please see below.
TO OUR WEST POINT GUESTS: We are NOW taking reservations for Graduation 2017. Please inquire about the rates (and please do not make 'reservation requests' that we have to decline). For now, we have a six night minimum, as that was the most common request last year. We are not yet taking reservations for 2018; we will announce it here when we are; it will be August 2017 at the earliest.
Cadets - sorry, we do not rent to college age groups. Please don't make reservation requests that we will have to decline; it hurts our listing placement. Thanks!

Donna and I love to hike and kayak and recently bought a new house even closer to great hiking in Harriman State Park.
Peter Cain purchased this farmhouse in 2003
This house was purchased as a weekend house from New York City, because it was only an hour away but had all the charm and proximity to outdoor activities one could ask for.
The character and warmth of all the living and outdoor spaces, combined with the proximity to both New York City and great hiking and outdoor recreation make this property one-of-a-kind!
This is our second time hosting a group of friends with families at this great house. We love the communal
spaces and the fireplace. The bedrooms are nicely separated from
the common areas. The proximity to Bear Mountain and to any sort of store
you might need makes it perfect. I am sure we will be back again.
The house was lovely for our large group - it was big enough to house us but felt cozy and welcoming. Everything was clean, the heating worked great, and the bathrooms even had stocked shampoo and conditioner. The living room with the fireplace was especially nice to relax in! The kitchen was stocked with plenty of spices, cooking utensils, and plates/cutlery, so cooking was easy and straightforward. The house is conveniently close to both nature at Harriman State Park and all necessities at Stop and Shop. Finally, Peter was very responsive over text and helpfully flexible with our check-in and check-out times. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and recommend it!
I had been looking for a nice place to host family visiting from out of town for weeks! I had found Peter's farmhouse but didn't move fast enough with the reservation and another family swooped in. Sadly I continued my search but luckily found an email from Peter in my inbox a few weeks after this! He was kind enough to reach out to see if I were still interested and in fact I was! I had my husband's family in from Ireland visiting and their first and lasting impression for me was when we toured the house, the smiles were never ending and I believe the words were, "it's a home away from home". We also had my family in from Georgia and Florida - there was plenty of space in and out - throughout the house for it not to feel like we were stepping on anyone's toes at all. The layout is very impressive and seemingly never ending. 5 beautiful bedrooms with heat or air throughout. (The beds are very comfortable and if you need extra sheets or pillows they have them tooAs you walk throughout the house you're mystified by the beauty of such an old home. The old wooden floors really are breathtaking. All the small details make for a sturdy, warm and welcoming home atmosphere. We had a graduation celebration one evening and Peter was also kind enough to accept my rental chairs and tables in my absence. The dinner celebration was hosted and everything went seeminglessly, as if you've owned the house for years. Ample amount of tables and everyone was extremely comfortable in the house.
Our family and friends stayed at the1700s Farmhouse during our visit to West Point. The 1700s farmhouse has been well maintained with wooden floors/woodwork, large brick fireplace, and spacious yard. It has a fully equipped kitchen, functional bathrooms, and spacious bedrooms with comfortable beds for a restful night's sleep. The farmhouse has plenty of room for several guests to visit or to get away to themselves if needed. The backyard is spacious and has a large porch for a barbecue or a fire. Our family/guests simply enjoyed the fall foliage and the flock of turkey that migrated through the backyard in the morning. Our hosts was very accommodating and helpful. We will be back on our future visits to the Pomona Farmhouse if it is available. Our stay was enjoyable and the memories priceless.
We rented this wonderful old farmhouse for a friends' weekend The home was roomy and clean with great places to hang out inside and out including a screened porch. The kitchen had all the necessary cookware and utensils. Communication with the home owners was easy and stress free. We would recommend this home and would rent again from them.
This home has maintained plenty of its historic charm, while providing all of the necessary conveniences of today. It comfortably housed the ten people we traveled with (two were children). The large porch off the back bedroom was a favorite spot for all of us. We also enjoyed relaxing in the huge, grassy yard and having dinner at the table on the side porch. The outdoor spaces were lovely, with flowers and trees all around. We used the kitchen to make breakfast and dinner, and we served meals in either of the two rooms that had dining tables. It felt like having dinner in the 1700s. Grocery stores were nearby and we found some wonderful Italian delis in town. Letchworth Village is very close and interesting to walk around (a tad spooky). There were plenty of historic places to visit a short drive away. The owners were lovely. Incredible place. We didn't want to leave.
Only 25 minutes from the George Washington Bridge in a very quiet, leafy neighborhood. Minutes to Harriman State Park trailheads, two riding stables, and many popular day camps.
