Private Cottage Nestled in the Jungle, Above the Rocky Shore.

Bedrooms 1
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

Cottage, Studio + Other (See Description), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

The dream of finding that private spot, nestled in the jungle among nature and wildlife, is fulfilled by a stay in Casa Selva at Osa Vistas. Sit on the porch overlooking the Pacific shoreline, whitewater playing on the rocks below. Watch the toucans and a myriad of bird life pass right by. White face and Howler monkey's, sloths and pizotes are frequently seen passing through the canopy overhead.

The villa is removed from the hustle and bustle, not only of 'back home', but the feeling of being removed from the world is palpable. Numerous guests have commented on the 'therapeutic affect' of Casa Selva. You truly unwind here. You can enjoy solitude on your balcony or visit our porch/pool area to exchange adventure stories. Because there is only one other rental casa on our property it is always an intimate gathering! When we are not available, and the guests ask for a referral to something similar, we are hard-pressed to come up with the answer. There simply isn't one.

From Casa Selva you can drive 15 minutes to either the world famous surf town of Dominical, or the thriving community of Uvita, complete with grocery stores, banks, ATMs, pharmacies, etc. Numerous sites and activities are all around: horseback waterfall tours, whale and dolphin tours, sport fishing, turtle vigilance, diving, surfing, ATV tours, animal sanctuary, the list goes on. Or, how about some quiet time on your porch with a good book? A stay at Casa Selva includes access to the pool, which overlooks the entire southern coastline all the way to the Osa Peninsula...hence our property name!

Questions? We are available to chat via phone, Skype, by email or thru our website at

Keywords: honeymoon, romantic getaway, jungle hideaway, additional jungle villas available if needed. Secluded in nature for privacy, but close enough to beaches, surfing, waterfalls, horseback riding, zip-lining, nature reserves, fabulous restaurants and spas, snorkeling and scuba, etc...

Why Diane Connors chose Dominicalito

We did one long trip thru Costa Rica & fell in love with this area in particular & thought it would appeal to other travelers like us so, here we are! We really love and enjoy, the hospitality biz so now we live and work at what we love to do. Peter spends hours in the gardens, he loves to plant things that grow unbelievably quickly! We're here to help with what ever the guests may need & yet give you total privacy at your casita.

What makes this cottage unique

This is a place to let your hair down, relax and enjoy nature. Because we are so close to the jungle (indeed we have a large amount on our property), you will see more wildlife here than in other rentals. Both howler & white faced monkeys frequently use our trees as a path from one valley to another.

You can conveniently do as much or as little as you like while you're here. It's a very central location for the area.

Do yourself a favor and stay here!

We throughly enjoyed our 3 nights at Casa Selva. From waking up with the monkeys to falling asleep to the sound of the waves, we did not want to leave. The casa is open air with a big porch that has views of the ocean and surrounding jungle. Everything we needed to feel comfortable was provided. As soon as we booked Diana contacted us and the lines of communication stayed open, she provided directions that were very detailed and made finding the location easy. Once we arrived we were provided a very helpful, hand drawn map of the area that we were able to take with us on our daily excursions. Conveniently located between Dominical and Uvita we had plenty of areas to explore and the map guided us to a few spots we would have missed otherwise.

This is definitely a spot we will return to, not only for the wonderful views but for the hospitality we were shown also. Thank you Peter and Diane! We hope to see you again soon!

A private sanctuary perched high above the shore and surrounded by forest

  • 5 of 5

We spent several nights at Casa Selva and can't wait to visit again! The accommodations are simple, comfortable & thoughtfully appointed. Diane and Peter are warm hosts and provide lots of information about the area. The privacy and simplicity of Casa Selva is wonderful. We spent hours just sitting on the veranda immersed in the endless wildlife activity--we saw toucans (2 kinds!) , howler monkeys, blue morpho butterflies, 2-toed sloth, parrots, and even a squirrel monkey--all without leaving the porch!

Jolly Roger restaurant is nearby and deserves its legendary reputation for both wings and burgers. We also enjoyed a sunset dinner at Porque No? near Dominical.

Casa Selva is a perfectly situated nest in the rain forest.

Just an amazing place!!!! I would love to stay there again in a heartbeat.

We stayed in the pictured villa for a week and loved it!! Exciting 5 minute drive up the mountain off the main highway. The villa is nestled in the jungle with a beautiful view of the ocean an is exactly as the pictures advertises. We had access to the pool area which included use of a gas barbecue and it had the most beautiful views I've ever seen! The owners Diane and Peter were super helpful and friendly and were always willing to chat and answer questions if needed but would leave you alone in complete privacy if that's what you wanted. I've been to this area of Costa Rica many times and if you want to experience nature and the real Costa Rica this is the place to stay! Open air room and shower lets you feel, hear and experience the real jungle - fall asleep and wake up to the sounds of the waves crashing in the distance as well as the birds, monkeys and wildlife....just amazing hanging out on the beautiful deck in the mornings and evenings! I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to experience nature at its best.

Daily we would see howler monkeys making their way through the trees, Toucans flying by or landing in trees close by, hundreds of bird species, butterflies including the famous (Morpho).

Can't wait to return!!!

What an amazing experience and view!!!

  • 5 of 5

The lil Casita was rustic, clean and comfortable. It had all the necessary items you need to be self-sufficient. It is in a great location overlooking the jungle area and the ocean below. Diane and Peter were pleasant hosts, along with their dog Derby and cat Mono Luna. They were available if you needed anything. As we were traveling with our daughter and her friend we booked both casitas.

We enjoyed the lovely pool surrounded by trees. with another amazing view of the ocean below. Sunsets and sunrises were spectacular. There are endless chirping birds, wildlife, crickets, monkeys and butterflies in the area. We also heard howler monkeys every day in the distance and up close.

There's a restaurant called the Jolly Roger pub located halfway up the mountain that serves wings, burgers, salads, and drinks, with flat screen tv's if you are a sports enthusiast! They also offer live music a few nights a week. Friendly atmosphere and we went a few times during our 4 night stay.

The highway turn off entrance to the property was located along the main road just past Dominical, so easy to access various beaches, waterfalls in the area and restaurants.

We had rented a 4x4 SUV as recommended and can see where it could be needed depending on the season. It was an interesting drive up the mountain, but absolutely worth the view at the top!! Stock up in Dominical or Uvita before you venture up to the property. Some great cafes are located in Dominical including Mono Congo!!

We hope to visit again and we recommend staying in this private casita nestled in the jungle!!

Car: necessary

When we are feeling vigorous, there is an amazing ocean view hill climb that can be walked, guaranteed to burn off a few pounds during your stay. There is also a Gym in Uvita and lots of Yoga and Pilates studios to choose from. There is a health and beauty spa where you turn off of the highway to come up to the house. The spa features some of the latest health treatments: mud packs, heated stones, massage and so on

We are also very close to Alturas Wildlife Sanctuary which is a great place to see the animals up close. Some are being rehabbed for release into the wild which others are permanent residents due to injuries.
