About the property

2 bedrooms with queen size beds 2 Baths With Private Terrace, Prestige Location

This beautiful, spacious high-end apartment has the ambiance of art déco Paris with the best of comfort and modern conveniences. A private terrace and a view of gardens from the bedrooms enhance the apartment’s tasteful decor and make it an ideal base for your Paris holiday.

On the apartment’s flowered terrace, a rarity in Paris, guests enjoy alfresco dining, a sunny breakfast, or a relaxing cocktail after a day of exploring and shopping in town. Even more unusual in the city center: the two bedrooms overlook a quiet garden ensuring a silent, peaceful night.

Here you are only steps away from the celebrated Place des Vosges, and the Picasso museum as well the city’s latest mecca for fashionable shopping: the chic boutiques of the Marais. A 15 to 20 minute walk brings you to the Seine, Ile Saint Louis and Notre Dame.

Although the Marais is now the trendiest area of Paris, it keeps its historic character with numerous restaurants, sidewalk cafés, art galleries and everyday shopping. The Marais is Paris at its most parisian, where no one feels a stranger.

In fact, from here, a walk in any direction reveals the city’s enduring charm. You are five minutes away from the metro stop, Chemin Vert, and excellent bus service to the whole of Paris. A short stroll through the Place des Vosges brings you to metro St. Paul with a direct line to the Louvre, Concorde, and the Champs Elysées.

In a neighbourhood bustling with life the 100 square meter apartment is on a quiet street in a modern building protected by access and elevator codes plus a full time guardian.

The unanimous 5-star reviews our guests have posted make us confident your stay here in Paris will be equally memorable.

Guestbook comments from the owner

“We had a splendid week staying in this apartment which we were lucky enough to hear about via a friend. It was in a wonderful position, very spacious, and we certainly enjoyed the terrace at every moment we could. Having a terrace is not a common finding in Paris and it was lovely to be able to take breakfast outside and enjoy the garden. We would highly recommend this apartment to those looking for a very central position, comfortable spacious apartment, with such a lovely terasse!

Right near Place des Voges so in the thick of the Marais. Everything there u could need in apartment, and if a problem or question u can call Barbara. She is very kind and helpful. Easy to use all equipment there... groceries right next door, loads of fabulous restaurants, and shops and museums. The rooms look out onto beautiful courtyard..birds wake u up...and bonus of private very pretty balcony off the sitting room. Enchanting. Beds really comfortable!! Bathrooms both excellent, and works well to have a separate toilet down the hall. We really chose well. Many many thanks! Would definitely love to come back!! Also, the sitting room is beautiful, very atmospheric and sofa can double if someone is snoring!

Best home in Paris!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from our first trip to Paris and we realized how perfect this home was in every way! The location is perfect for all of the museums (quick Uber rides), very very safe, perfect Parisian atmosphere. Barbara made us feel so welcome. Her home has everything you would want. Would love to rent it for months!!!

Perfect in every single way!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I joined our 2 adult children for a Christmas holiday in Paris. The rave reviews of Barbara and Bill's home attracted us, and they turned out to be entirely accurate! Down the to wonderful Christmas tree in the living room and the bottle of champagne left for us on Christmas eve. We cannot say enough about this place, which is perfectly located, decorated with some of the most beautiful art deco furniture I have seen anywhere, and hosted by an absolutely lovely couple. We will be back!

Great Apartment, Fantastic Location, Excellent Host

  • 5 of 5

If you are wondering which VRBO to book in Paris, stop looking. Barbara’s flat is exactly what you want. We stayed here for 5 nights as 2 couples celebrating 25 years of wedded bliss at the end of September, 2017. It was fantastic! Barbara was extremely responsive from start to finish. She met us at the building on arrival and oriented us to the flat and area. She was full of helpful, honest advice on everything from where to eat, how to travel, where to visit and when to go there. As other guests have said, she is one of the main reasons to stay here.

The apartment itself is equally great. Located on the third floor of a building on a fairly quiet street in the Marais, the location was easily accessible by car, subway (2 minute walk to Chemin Vert station so that was our preferred mode of travel), or bicycle. The building is very safe and secured by a locked gate and second locked door before you can get to the elevators. There are 2 grocery stores within 20 metres of the door to the building in which the apartment is located, so food was easy to pick up on a daily basis. There is also a boulangerie within about 50m of the door, and the morning trip there for our fresh croissants and various breads or sandwiches, became a highlight of our day. There are multiple pubs and restaurants within easy walking distance (1-2 blocks), and the Bastille market about 4-5 blocks away is a must-see.

Inside the flat, the décor is French antique. The floors and bathrooms are immaculately clean and the kitchen is stocked with all of the utensils you could ever need, as well as spices and staples which Barbara invites guests to use freely. We mostly cooked for ourselves so having things like oil and herbs so readily available was really great. There is a dishwasher, which was also welcome. The kitchen also has a Nespresso machine that comes fully stocked with lots of pods, which was a good thing, since we needed our caffeine! There are 2 bathrooms, both with showers and one with a toilet. A second toilet is in a separate small room off the entrance. Having the 2 showers was great for getting everyone out the door in the mornings. The highlight of the apartment for us, though, was the patio. This was what attracted us to the place in the beginning and we were not disappointed. Even in late September, sitting out on the patio in the evening with candles and a bottle of wine…OK maybe several bottles….was wonderful & unique. Our only regret is leaving!

Magical Marais

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I just spent 22 magical, enchanting and thoroughly wonderful days at

20 Rue Saint Gilles located in the Marais district of Paris. To start the apartment was just lovely and very French. We really felt as though we were "living" in Paris. The little outside terrace was an added bonus - early morning coffee and warm croissants from the local boulangerie or a glass of nice red in the late afternoon. The neighborhood is sprinkled with wonderful little cafes and restaurants and even two local groceries if you feel inclined to cook. A few steps away you will find the Place des Vosges, the oldest planned square in Paris, surrounded by cafes and shops, and the Picasso Museum.

Barbara is a lovely and welcoming hostess and armed us well all kinds of useful information. During our stay I had several questions, and Barbara was alway quick to respond - via email - with a response and/or a solution. There is weekly housekeeping as well. A very sweet lady named Claudia comes by the change the sheets, put out fresh towels and tidy up. There is, however, a washer, dryer and dishwasher if needed.

We had two friends join us for part of our visit. The apartment is well outfitted with two large bedrooms and two bathrooms. The lovely living room/dining room made it a perfect venue for the four of us to enjoy the living space and, at the same time, feel we were not cramped. We all agreed that it was just perfect in every way.

I could go on and on but suffice to say that Barbara, the apartment and the location made this the best trip we have ever taken. We plan to return to Paris - 22 years wouldn't be enough let along 22 days - and we hope to spend more time at 20 Rue Saint Gilles. Many, many thanks to Barbara.
