This is a beautiful, secluded log cabin nestled on three acres of forest land in the mountains above Jemez Springs at an elevation of approximately 8,300 feet. We have enjoyed this wonderful place and want to share with other friends, families and guests.

Located at mile marker 33 on Hwy 4, the cabin is 1 hour 45 minutes from the ABQ International Airport and 1 hour 20 minutes from downtown Santa Fe.

The cabin sits in the Jemez mountain hunting zone 6a, with zone 6b (Valles Caldera) just down the road.

Upon arrival, you will find an array of amenities to enjoy during your relaxing mountain retreat, including:

1. an open floor plan with exposed log beams;

2. There are 3 bedrooms and a loft area, which are organized as follows:

a. 1st floor – King size bed

b. 2nd floor- Double bed

c. 2nd Floor – triple bunk (3 twins)

d. 2nd Floor Loft area – trundle bed (2 twins)

e. There is room in the loft, in the bunk room and in the living room to put the 2 air mattresses.

5. two full bathrooms;

6. a full kitchen, including a dishwasher

7. an outdoor grill;

8. a full laundry; and

9. a wood burning stove with pre-chopped wood outside.

- if you need basic groceries, Amanda’s, a small general store, located 7 miles south on Hwy. 4, has groceries, bait and tackle, and fishing licenses;

There are books, board games, video games, and movies catering to all ages. There is a flat screen TV, Blu-Ray player and XBox 360, along with basic internet access. Cable and basic television are not available. The cabin has very spotty cell reception, but has a landline with free long distance throughout the contiguous United States. Internet is also very unreliable but who needs it with all this?!

From the large front porch, which accommodates up to eight adults, you can enjoy incredible sunsets, star gazing and abundant wildlife. In the winter months, enjoy the view of the snow-capped ridge and sledding on the hill in the front of the cabin (two small sleds are provided).

Hiking is limitless, and the cabin is a perfect starting point for walks in the forest or strolls on the access road. The cabin is ten minutes from waterfalls and swimming at Jemez Falls and the East Fork Trail to the south. Fishing and hiking at Las Conchas is 10 minutes away to the north. Within 30 minutes you can visit Bandelier National Monument, the Valles Caldera (cross country skiing and snow shoeing in the winter) or Fenton Lake. Within 35 minutes you can be in downtown Los Alamos in the north, downhill skiing in Pajarito Ski Area or be in downtown Jemez Springs to the south.

The Village of Jemez Springs has great shopping flavored by local artists. There are great restaurants, including a real saloon where you can eat, drink and meet the locals. Also located in Jemez Springs is the famous hot springs and full service day spa where everyone on your trip can be pampered after a long day of enjoying the outdoors.

Enjoy the wonderful cabin with your friends and loved ones in this beautiful mountain setting. Have fun, enjoy the views, the air, and the peace and quiet.

We are willing to consider all events on our property. Please contact us regarding specific limitations and fees related to events.

From Mid-November through Mid-March, please plan to utilize an AWD or 4X4 to get to the cabin. The roads to the property are plowed, but not during an active storm. After plowing, there is the potential for 2-3" packed snow and ice.

Great location with all amenities!!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I spent a week at the cabin and had a great experience. The laundry room and kitchen made things easy enough to where we didn't have to travel to town every day. The location was perfect for hiking and sight seeing. We had an awesome time!

Beautiful mountain scenery! Very clean, comfortable house!

  • 5 of 5

Jason and Leslie,

We thoroughly enjoyed your mountain home while we were visiting the Jemez mountain area. It was close to many hiking trails, but also felt secluded in the neighborhood when we got back to the house each day. We love just checking out of the rat race and relaxing on our vacations and your house certainly provided that. In fact, we didn't see a single other person besides our family around the house on most days there. Very nice getaway! The only downside to this property is the steep incline driveway if you only have a two-wheel drive. One of our vehicles was two-wheel and one was four-wheel, so we made sure to pack the four-wheel drive vehicle with all the heavy loaded things. However, Leslie and Jason do provide a place to park down below the driveway area for two-wheel drive vehicles - it just requires a walk up the stairs, which can be hard when you are bringing in all of your luggage and food/coolers. The inside amenities were very comfortable except for the fact that there is no air conditioning in the home, which we were unaware of beforehand. Might have been just an oversight on my part with not reading the full listing. However, all of the windows opened up and the breeze was nice once the heat of the day passed. The kitchen was fully stocked with pots, pans, trashbags and paper towels (which is a very big plus compared to other VRBO homes we've stayed at in the past). Also, the beds were exceptionally comfortable, especially after a long day of hiking. And, we even saw a bear behind the house one day while we were cooking out on the gas grill (another plus for cooking - the gas grill, I mean.....not the bear). That was very cool to see him, but be aware of nature's creatures around the house when you stay there- oh, and the chipmunks behind the house on the patio LOVE for you to share your nuts with them! Great stay for us! Thanks Leslie and Jason! We loved it!

Simply outstanding!

  • 5 of 5

We found the cabin to be exactly as represented. Everything was clean and comfortable. Communication with the owners was outstanding. My family and I spent 3 nights here in mid July and had a wonderful time. The cabin was well stocked and everything was clearly labeled so there was no question as to where items were located. The arrival and departure instructions were very thorough so there was never any questions about what we needed to do. If you want to spend some time away from it all, this is the place. Although there are neighbors nearby, we only saw one vehicle pass the cabin the entire time we were there. We would definitely not hesitate to stay here again. I would caution that the driveway is a bit tight for a big crew cab pickup. Also, a ceiling fan in the master bedroom would be a most welcome addition.

Beautiful views! Warm and comfortable!

  • 5 of 5

My three college-aged kids and I spent a few nights here as a base for hiking in the area. Couldn't have been more perfect for us! Plenty of room, all the necessities, and a fantastic view from the front windows. I'm almost sorry we have to move on as it's been a fantastic base and there's so much more to do in the area

Very Relaxing

  • 5 of 5

Cabin location was beautiful. Even though there were other cabins near by it was still peaceful. We had family weekend at this cabin and it slept 10 people very comfortably and it was nice to have all the amenities of home.
