Overview

About the property

Furnished;1 downstairs BR, pullout couch, 1 loft BR. Gas FP, covered back deck

Looking for a great place to spend quality Autumn days and nights with an awesome view of a colorful wooded area? Do you want to be "off the beaten path and in the country", but yet close to town and the interstate? (only 7 min. away from I-75)! We may have what you want right here in this country cabin. It features unlimited high speed WIFI, queen size bed on the first floor, and a backyard pond to fish in. (Mostly Bluegill), fire pit, fully stocked kitchen, and much more. Small loft bedroom on the second floor that has a full size bed in it. Note: to access the second floor bedroom, there is a ladder/stairs combination. (the ladder/stairs leading to the upstairs bedroom is not suitable for small/young children or the elderly).

This cabin has original hardwood flooring in the kitchen, main floor bedroom area, and living room.

The kitchen is airy and spacious, and is stocked with all sorts of amenities. It has a microwave, full size stove/oven, full size upright refrigerator, coffee pot, crock pot, toaster, small electric grill, and other goodies.

The main floor bedroom area has a queen bed with a thick memory foam mattress, a dresser, and wall heater and gas fire place. The fire place gives off a warm glow to the bedroom and is set in a floor to ceiling chimney that is made from field stones found years ago right on this property.

The living room area has a Lazy Boy rocker recliner chair, a pull out sofa that converts into a full size bed, and a flat screen 32" television and DVD player. The television has Flexpack Dish programming, plus the local Lexington channels and ESPN for sports fans.

There is a small reading nook next to the kitchen. Sit in the rocking chair with your favorite book, or choose one from the bookcase to read.

The bathroom is a full bath, containing a tub/shower combination. The bath also has an added feature of it's own wall heater so you can stay nice and warm even after you take your shower or bath.

As already mentioned, the cabin is equipped with high speed unlimited internet.

Do you own a off road vehicle? If so, you may want to bring it along and spend some quality time riding at the nearby Wildcat Adventures Offroad park. This park has numerous off road trails, from beginner to expert. The park is only 5 min. away from the cabin, making it very convenient to ride awhile, come back to the cabin for a break, then go back to the park to ride again. (Note: if you are planning on riding at Wildcat, quiet hours begins at 9:30 PM. Please, no ATV riding back and forth from the cabin to the park after that time).

You may also wish to have a campfire in the backyard fire pit now that fall is upon us and the evenings have a chill in the air. Watch the dancing flames and glowing embers while you sit under a starlit sky.

Sit on the generous sized covered back deck while enjoying the view of your private backyard pond just steps away.

If you are an avid bird watcher, you will enjoy the various birds who will visit the bird feeder right outside the front window. Cardinals, doves, nut hatches, goldfinches, woodpeckers, and chickadees are the most common birds that are seen.

You will notice some horses grazing in the fields near the cabin. These horses are very gentle and love to be fed a few apples and carrots. Feel free to give them these type of treats. (Sorry, we do not lease our horses out for horseback rides).

Your well behaved and housebroken pet is welcome to accompany you for an additional charge of $25.00 per visit per pet under three days. Over three days, the fee is $10.00 per day per pet. Limit of two pets per stay. If you have plans to bring your pet, please mention this to us as you are making your reservation.

Your visit would not be complete without a trip to Cumberland Falls State Park. The park has "The Niagara of the South" waterfalls. It also has hiking trails all around. The park is about a 45 min. drive from the cabin.

Renfro Valley Music Center is only a 15 min. drive away. If you are a fan of country style music, you may want to check them out.

Other places and events that may be of interest to you include:

Wildcat Harley Davidson store is located on the north end of London, 10 miles south.

Levi Jackson Wilderness Road State Park is 15 miles south, in London.

Camp Wildcat Civil War Battle Historical Site is about 1 1/2 miles away.

The Original Colonel Sander's Cafe and Museum, Corbin, KY. Located approximately 20 miles south, eat where the Kentucky Fried Chicken began.

Speaking of food, there are many different restaurants in nearby London, KY.

Hiking trails are plentiful in the area. You can drive a few miles up to the Wildcat Civil War Monument and hike some trails there.

This is just a short list of things you can do while you are visiting. There are many other special events going on year round in nearby London that may interest you. Just ask when you inquire and I will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

About Julee Skarka

My husband Pete and I are orginally from Northern Illinois. We moved down to Kentucky in 2001, and absolutely love it here. Pete had lived in Kentucky in the past when he attended MSU and fell in love at that time with the beautiful countryside. We currently have a small farm and raise chickens and have three pleasure horses for our personal use, plus Holstein calves.

Julee Skarka purchased this cabin in 2001

Why Julee Skarka chose Kentucky

We love horses and living in the country, and when we first set eyes on this piece of property, it was love at first sight! We really do feel like we have a small piece of heaven right here. The rolling hillsides, the deep woods, and the beautiful sunrises and sunsets just confirm the fact that we made the right choice by moving to Kentucky.

What makes this cabin unique

We are very near to the Daniel Boone National Forest which gives us great wooded views all around. There are numerous trails everywhere, great for both horseback riding and hiking, which we both love to participate in. We chose this property over all others because of it's beauty, tranquility, and seclusion.

We desire that you would feel 'at home' while you are here, and we are dedicated to give you the best service possible. It is our goal that every guest who visits comes away feeling refreshed and re-newed, and our hope is that you would desire to visit us again in the future.

We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. Julia was very welcoming when we arrived and the cabin was perfect. We were provided everything we needed for our stay. The country setting was wonderful and we hope to be returning in the near future.

Great place to relax

  • 5 of 5

I stayed there with my family and it was really pretty with all the old barns and the pond and the horses were really friendly! There were also delicious chocolate chip cookies waiting for us upon arrival. A cozy cabin with a lot of porch space for hanging out with the family or reading.

Wonderful getaway

  • 5 of 5

We met up with my youngest son, who is stationed at Ft. Campbell KY. This place is a gem! Sitting on the back deck, watching the hummingbirds was so cool. I've never seen so many hummingbirds! Julee and Pete are great hosts- such a lovely couple. A tranquil spot for a vacation. Thanks for a great time. Can't wait to come back!

A gem in a paradise setting

  • 5 of 5

We loved the place, hoping to return next year or before. FYI, don't leave your bluegill on a stringer in the pond, there is a turtle that will eat them.
