To those who are planning to visit Wildcat Adventures Off Road Park, we invite you to check out this cozy, country cottage. Cooler outdoor temperatures and fresh, country air make this an ideal location to relax and refresh after a long day of riding the miles and miles of trails, as we are conveniently located 5 min. away from the award winning park.
Enjoy a camp fire in the fire pit by night, (we provide the fire wood); or sit on the covered back deck and enjoy the view of the private backyard pond just steps away, or the beauty of the surrounding woods. You may want to sit on the floating dock at the pond and go fishing.
Feel free to walk around our property and breathe in the fresh, country air. You may even get a glance of deer or turkey.
If you are an avid bird watcher, you will enjoy the various birds who will visit the bird feeder right outside the front window. Cardinals, nut hatches, goldfinches, blue jays, woodpeckers, and chickadees are the most common birds that are seen.
Watch the three resident horses graze in the fields surrounding you. If you wish, you may feed them carrots and apples. Our horses are very gentle and love our guests, especially ones who come bearing treats!
The inside of this cottage is loaded with character and charm of days gone by; it even has a real tree trunk in it! Almost everything that you would need is provided for you; just bring your clothes, food, and drinks, plus fishing poles and bait if you enjoy fishing. See the 'amenities' section to see a complete list of what is supplied for our guests.

My husband Pete and I are orginally from Northern Illinois. We moved down to Kentucky in 2001, and absolutely love it here. Pete had lived in Kentucky in the past when he attended MSU and fell in love at that time with the beautiful countryside. We currently have a small farm and raise chickens and have three pleasure horses for our personal use, plus Holstein calves.
Julee Skarka purchased this cottage in 2001
We love horses and living in the country, and when we first set eyes on this piece of property, it was love at first sight! We really do feel like we have a small piece of heaven right here. The rolling hillsides, the deep woods, and the beautiful sunrises and sunsets just confirm the fact that we made the right choice by moving to Kentucky.
We are very near to the Daniel Boone National Forest which gives us great wooded views all around. There are numerous trails everywhere, great for both horseback riding and hiking, which we both love to participate in. We chose this property over all others because of it's beauty, tranquility, and seclusion.
We desire that you would feel 'at home' while you are here, and we are dedicated to give you the best service possible. It is our goal that every guest who visits comes away feeling refreshed and re-newed, and our hope is that you would desire to visit us again in the future.
We loved this place!! Everything was perfect!!
Great view, private and quiet. We loved feeding the fish and visiting with the horses, Ginger, Sierra and Promise. What a great spot to get away from it all.
The furnishings are nicely appointed and the home comes fully equipped.
The owners Julee and Pete were wonderful. We were 100% pleased with our getaway! We will definitely be back again.
Thank you for sharing your slice of heaven with us!!

Me, my husband and Coco recently visited this cottage and loved it. Julee and Pete are wonderful hosts. They met us at the cottage the night we arrived. What a gorgeous place to stay. The bed was very comfortable and the cottage was very clean and maintained well. It was very quiet and peaceful. Breathtaking view of the rolling hills. We spent our days exploring around this place, swam at Laurel River Lake, took a trip to Cumberland Falls, paddled Wood Creek Lake and also walked trail to the Camp Wildcat Civil War Battlefield. We are really happy about finding this paradise and we miss our getaway . Thank you Julee and Pete for sharing your cottage with us. You make people happy. We hope to return soon :)
5 months later and I still can't get over how amazing my boyfriend and my getaway was here. This was the perfect little cottage.
Every morning/night we would go out and feed the horses and fishes and take a walk on the beautiful property. At night, we would snuggle up by the fireplace. I would recommend going to Lake Cumberland while visiting, it was gorgeous! It was all so peaceful and nice to get away from the crazy work life. I can't wait until we are fortunate enough to come back.
Thank you Julee and Pete for the wonderful experience!!!
My grandson and I had the honor to stay at the Blue gill cabin for a week and we loved it. The view from the deck is so beautiful. The humming birds were amazing, we did a video of them. No one would of believed there were so many. The cabin was spotless inside and outside. The pond was my grandsons favorite part. He spent a lot of time fishing and swimming in it. Pete went out of his way to help my grandson dig up worms. Julee made sure we had all the humming bird feeders filled and goof for the other birds and fish. If you want a peaceful place to stay and two amazing people to look over your needs this is the place for you. Julee and Pete the owners are like angels watching over you.
God Bless both of them.
The cabin was exactly like like it was described, I have already told family members that they need to go and stay there. We went to Cumberland falls and on a train ride in Sterns, Kentucky. The battle field down the street was very interesting. The dollar game going on in the cabin is a lot of fun also.

The cabin was spotless and Julee and Pete were very nice. Their place is very well maintained I wish we would have had more time to explore around it. The cabin had everything we needed for the weekend and those hummingbirds will keep you entertained the entire time as well as all of the other birds that come around. It was a relaxing stay for the most part. The night we arrived the neighbors who live down behind the barn were riding dirt bikes until the sun went down so the noise and smell of that somewhat detracted from an otherwise beautiful and peaceful evening. But it didn't go on past sunset and even if it did you probably wouldn't have heard it over the frogs and crickets. It is so nice that they allow pets and we were able to bring our dog along with us but there were two other dogs that we saw roaming the property a couple times. I don't think they belonged to the owners but maybe the neighbors? They came up around the cabin the first night and didn't seem to mind our presence but the following evening when I was down at the dock with our dog the larger one of the two approached us barking and growling in an aggressive manner (ears back, hair standing up). She followed us in the same manner until we were halfway back to the cabin. Anyway, nothing came of it but we were planning to walk around the property some before we left the next morning but not knowing the story with the dogs decided to check out the nearby Camp Wildcat site instead which by the way was worth the time if you like those kinds of things. We managed to lock ourselves out of the cabin as the key we had only unlocked the front door lock and being in the habit of locking doors we locked the deadbolt as well and exited through the back door when we left. When we called Julee and Pete they weren't home and had to come back to let us in. They were very gracious and understanding and in the end it just caused us to spend more time out on the back porch with the hummingbirds so no harm. There are a lot of things to do in the area including ATV's, canoe/kayaking, hiking, etc. I would recommend their place but you just might ask about the dogs if you plan to bring your pet and make sure you know which locks the key fits and you'll be good!
Spectacular! This getaway is out of a story book- will definitely be returning. Couldn't have been better. Julee and Pete do an amazing job at preparing everything for your stay- highly advise staying here.
