Overview

About the property

2 BR, one down, one loft, gas log fireplace, WIFI, TV, DVD player, hot tub.

Searching for a great getaway at a great price? You may have found it here. During the months of April and May we have reduced our weekday rates significantly.

This cozy cabin is is nestled in the countryside and has a gorgeous view! From the moment you arrive, you will admire the magnificent oak trees that surround the back yard. The rolling pastures and distant woods are very easy on the eyes.

As of March, 2018, we have added another amenity to this cabin: A hot tub on the back deck. Rates reflect the use of the hot tub during your stay. You may choose not to use the hot tub during your visit; if so, we will refund $20 per day of your stay. Please let us know if you do not want the hot tub at the time of booking. (Whichever option you decide, you must abide with that decision for the whole duration of your stay).

The property features your own private backyard pond, just a few steps away from the back deck of the cabin, and it is well stocked with Bluegill and Bass for your fishing pleasure.

A small loft bedroom is located on the second floor and has a full size bed. To access the second floor bedroom, there is a ladder. The ladder leading to the upstairs bedroom is not suitable for young children, the elderly, or physically impaired.

The cabin has it's original hardwood flooring in most of the rooms giving it a rustic look.

The kitchen is stocked with all sorts of amenities. It has a microwave, full size stove/oven, full size upright refrigerator, coffee pot, crock pot, toaster, small electric grill, and other goodies.

The main floor bedroom area has a queen bed with a thick memory foam mattress, a dresser, and wall heater. There is also a floor to ceiling chimney that is made from field stones found years ago right on this property. It contains a gas log, which is in operation seasonally.

The living room area has a Lazy Boy rocker recliner chair, a pull out sofa that converts into a full size bed, and a flat screen 32" television and DVD player. The television has Flexpack Dish programming, plus the local Lexington channels and ESPN for all you sports fans.

This cabin is equipped with high speed internet so you can easily keep in touch through social media with family members and friends.

The bathroom is a full bath, containing a tub/shower combination.

Do you own a off road vehicle? If so, you may want to bring it along and spend some quality time riding at the nearby Wildcat Adventures Offroad park. This park has numerous off road trails, from beginner to expert. The park is only 5 min. away from the cabin. Ride the trails all day, then come back for a relaxing soak in the hot tub on the covered back deck.

You may want to have a campfire in the backyard fire pit. Watch the dancing flames and glowing embers while you sit under a starlit sky. Or, you may want to make some Smore's for a sweet snack.

You will notice some horses grazing in the fields near the cabin. These horses are very gentle and love to be fed a few apples and carrots. Feel free to give them these type of treats. (Sorry, we do not lease our horses out for horseback rides).

Your well behaved and housebroken pet is welcome to accompany you for an additional charge of $25.00 per visit per pet under three days. Over three days, the fee is $10.00 per day per pet. Limit of two pets per stay. If you have plans to bring your pet, please mention this to us as you are making your reservation.

Your visit would not be complete without a trip to Cumberland Falls State Park. The park has "The Niagara of the South" waterfalls. It also has hiking trails all around. The park is about a 45 min. drive from the cabin.

Renfro Valley Music Center is only a 15 min. drive away. If you are a fan of country style music, you may want to check them out.

Other places and events that may be of interest to you include:

Wildcat Harley Davidson store is located on the north end of London, 10 miles south.

Levi Jackson Wilderness Road State Park is 15 miles south, in London.

Camp Wildcat Civil War Battle Historical Site is about 1 1/2 miles away.

The Original Colonel Sander's Cafe and Museum, Corbin, KY. Located approximately 20 miles south, eat where the Kentucky Fried Chicken began.

Speaking of food, there are many different restaurants in nearby London, KY.

Hiking trails are plentiful in the area. You can drive a few miles up to the Wildcat Civil War Monument and hike some trails there.

This is just a short list of things you can do while you are visiting. There are many other special events going on year round in nearby London that may interest you. Just ask when you inquire and I will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

About Julee Skarka

My husband Pete and I are orginally from Northern Illinois. We moved down to Kentucky in 2001, and absolutely love it here. Pete had lived in Kentucky in the past when he attended MSU and fell in love at that time with the beautiful countryside. We currently have a small farm and raise chickens and have three pleasure horses for our personal use, plus Holstein calves.

Julee Skarka purchased this cabin in 2001

Why Julee Skarka chose East Bernstadt

We love horses and living in the country, and when we first set eyes on this piece of property, it was love at first sight! We really do feel like we have a small piece of heaven right here. The rolling hillsides, the deep woods, and the beautiful sunrises and sunsets just confirm the fact that we made the right choice by moving to Kentucky.

What makes this cabin unique

We are very near to the Daniel Boone National Forest which gives us great wooded views all around. There are numerous trails everywhere, great for both horseback riding and hiking, which we both love to participate in. We chose this property over all others because of it's beauty, tranquility, and seclusion.

We desire that you would feel 'at home' while you are here, and we are dedicated to give you the best service possible. It is our goal that every guest who visits comes away feeling refreshed and re-newed, and our hope is that you would desire to visit us again in the future.

A lovely getaway

  • 5 of 5

The pictures and descriptions in the listing are accurate, but they don't offer you the sense of place that you get when you're actually arrive there. It's so beautiful and peaceful. We never had any issues with the cabin and enjoyed our time there. We took some time to explore the farm and the take a walk down the road. It's not too far away for runs out for activities, restaurants, and stores. The stars at night against the dark sky were breathtaking to enjoy from the back porch. Don't miss the chance to disconnect from the world and enjoy some time away.

Great couple's retreat

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a scenic getaway, this is the place. Tucked back in the woods, yet not far from the interstate, you will find this place hidden at the end of a long and windy road. (The owner gives great directions so it is not hard to find at all!) It has everything you need for a complete cabin stay at a reasonable price. It was clean and the owners were very friendly and accommodating. And even though it was pretty chilly when we were there, there was plenty of heat in the cabin! We took a couple of day hiking trips within Daniel Boone Nat'l Forest, which were just a hop skip and a jump from the cabin. I wish we could have spent more time outside on the porch watching the horses and wildlife... Next time!
