Culebra Island, Puerto Rico-USA is a hidden paradise in the Caribbean, it is a place whose time changes you in a few days . It's very laid back and you will experience what it's like to live on a tropical island.
Our one bedroom villa is part of the best pool facilities operating in Culebra. It is located right on Culebra's Ensenada Honda Bay, just 10 minutes away from the Airport and nearby many others tourist attractions. The settings are tranquil and restful; the sounds of the birds and wild life are the loudest noises that you are likely hear.
Picture yourself having your fresh brewed coffee in the morning with a serene view of the bay, followed by lounging around the pool, enjoying water sports on the Bay or visiting a spectacular white sand beach where you can spend hours playing with the waves, then come back for spectacular sunsets viewed every afternoon. Our pool gazebo and pool lounging facilities are the largest in the island. Breathtaking views from our personal balcony and our amazing pools are a major part of our guest's memorable experiences.
The villa consists of a 1 bedroom suite with a very comfortable queen bed and sofa-bed in the living/dining room area with your own private terrace. There is an individual central air conditioning unit and a kitchenette area consisting of a mini-fridge, microwave, and two burner stove top. There is a modern bathroom. Please note a television with a DVD player is provided; there is no cable TV or WiFi services at the moment
One of the best kept secrets of the island and the world is Flamenco Beach which was mentioned by the Travel channel as one of the top 5 beaches to visit in the world. Besides the world’s famous Flamenco Beach, there is another stunning beach, located just 5 minutes away from our hotel called Zoni Beach which is another favorite beach for visitors. The snorkeling on the beaches is excellent.
There are a large variety of recreational activities that can be coordinated or you can just simply relax and soak in the sun and ambiance by the Pool Bar.
Prior to visiting Culebra we looked at a number of places to stay. Different than the main Island of PR there are no 5 star resorts on Culebra; and, I am a Hilton Diamond member. So, you have to be more flexible in expectations on quality and amenities. The owner negotiated a better rate for our stay - and we had a nice stay. This unit was clean and all items worked well. It is true that the kitchen and decor are spartan; but, we came to spend our time at the beaches, site seeing and eating out - hence, we spent little time in the condo. The complex is older and a little weathered, but it has a nice pool (I am a pool guy) and excellent views. We also liked the location - quieter - and closer to Zoni beach (which is a fabulous beach)! We would stay again for sure. The other places on Culebra had mostly negative reviews or lesser amenities. Cheers! - p.s. If you use Paypal w/ the owner you can both save some $$$...
This is a beautiful apartment with a very nice ocean view and a kitchen. The property had a nice pool and had a small restaurant on site. Property is close to town and all the beaches.
Good facilities, they've got pretty much everything you need here, so you don't have to go into town for too much. Short drive to the beaches. The roads are a little rough, so rent a jeep.
We had a great time. The bed was so comfortable. The unit was cozy and clean. The view was great from the deck. The resort is very run down and kind of depressing. Who knows when the swim-up bar was opened last. The cafe was never open. It was close to Zoni beach which turned out to be our favorite beach and Susie's restaurant .
This may suit others, but we were disappointed. We like to have a drink on the deck at the end of a day - but the fridge had no freezer and there was no where to get ice. It lacked those few little details, like salt and pepper available.
The kitchen cloths were not adequate - a dusting cloth was left for drying dishes - hardly did the job. More attention needed in those cupboards and with the utensils.
There were double size sheets on a queen bed, so the corners were always pulling away.
I think the resort itself is in need up serious upkeep. The road in is quite bumpy and in need of repair. We would love to have opened the windows for fresh air, but they lacked screens. Without much effort, these owners could improve this unit and it would make all the difference.
The apartment was fine. Not fabulous. Not horrible. We loved the island and plan on returning but we will not stay here again. There are many other options.
Side note not on the apartment but on the resort. (Which is why we chose this place)
The resort is not at all what it claims. I'm sure it was amazing when it was built but that was long ago. The place was practically empty. The water sports shop was a storage and closed. The bars were both closed and neither appeared to have been open in a long time. The pool was chilly and had a great deal of algae from lack of use. The pool chairs were worn and ripped and not usable.
It is quiet far away from everything and a car is necessary. Not so if you stay more in town.
Again. We LOVED the island!!! Just not this place
