The property and the owners were all very nice. We enjoyed it very much. I did have a very big problem with the after-hours answering service. When I arrived back to the cabin without the ability to pull up the instructions on my phone, I had to call to find out the code to get in. The only door the code works on was a side door which I had never been in before. Despite my being on the phone for about ten minutes and clearly trudging up and down the stairs looking for the condo doorway and grumbling to the representative on the phone about going up and down the stairs and into hallways and not finding the entrance to our condo, he finally said, oh well, I have written directions. I was extremely bothered by him not providing that information before hand. He clearly had it and was just completely disassociated from the phone call and I am sorry, but not at all very bright and very very slow. Quite exasperating. Other than that it was a wonderful stay and I think we want to book it again for next year. Thank you. Please reconsider your answering service!!
8 adults stayed here in July, 2016. The location is great. Very short walk to the gondola's and close to the mountain village restaurants, Starbucks, etc. Parking was really tricky to figure out, but they do have a spot in a garage about a block from the unit. Unit was fine. Kitchen was well stocked. Everything was comfortable, including pull-out couch bed. Internet was not working, but admittedly we did not do anything to try and get it to work. Overall, a good property.
The overall impression of Emerald Elk was good. There are a couple of areas that can be improved. The dishwasher did not clean the dishes even with pre-rinsing and light wiping. The dishes still have food debris on them after the wash cycle. The other concern is the lack of an open ski locker. The place is advertised as ski in/out however there is no accommodation made for your skis. The unit has a ski locker but it is locked and for the owners use. I was told that I could leave my skis in the common area and it is save because you need a cypher code to access the building. If that is the case, why are the ski lockers locked? Also, the "ski in" required a small uphill walk.
The property manager was responsive to our inability to find the remote for the gas fireplace. A maintenance person was there within 15 to 20 minutes of my call and located the remote.
I would recommend this place to a friend with caveats of the dishwasher and ski locker.
We stayed at the Emeralk Elk over Christmas vacation in 2015. We were thoroughly impressed with the condo and it's location. The condo was beautiful-clean, updated, and had everything you would need for even a long getaway. Village Creek is also a very short walk from Mountain Village center square, all resturants, the gondola, and the ski lift. Even my father-in-law, who is wheel chair bound, was able to get around easily.
The only small problem we encountered was parking. The reserved parking space for our condo was about two or three blocks from our location, which wasn't a big deal as we never needed to drive anywhere with everything so close. However, there is a small space for parking to unload which was constantly occupied by guests who chose not use their reserved space and instead parked in front of the building constantly. This made u loading for my family challenging.
Overall, it was a great stay in a wonderful location. We will definitely be back soon and will always reserve our stay at Village Creek.
The very best thing about this property is its proximity to the gondola and Mountain Village Plazas. That is why we stayed here-- and we would stay again just based on that location. It is literally a three minute walk to the gondola. The inside of this home is not special at the moment. Furniture, carpets, walls...interior decorations are all dramatically out of date. So, if that doesn't bother you-- this can still be a wonderful place to stay. The rooms are large and the vaulted ceilings are beautiful. The kitchen could definitely use an upgrade-- and as of this writing is missing some key things for cooking. (i.e. cutting boards, a vegetable peeler, a broom...) We came with small children and there was plenty of space for them to roam and a nice set up with bedrooms.
