In the mountains of Western Maryland in Garrett County, Deep Creek Lake offers recreation and relaxation year-round. Deep Creek Lake Maryland has something for everyone. Activities and things to do include boating, water skiing, hiking, whitewater rafting on the Youghiogheny River, snow skiing at Wisp Resort, hunting, miniature golf, and championship Maryland vacation golf courses. For shoppers, numerous fine gift shops are nearby. Within a few minutes are restaurants of all types. Five state parks including Swallow Falls State Park which features Swallow Falls and Muddy Creek Falls, Maryland's largest waterfall are a short drive away.

Deep Creek Lake State Park : Most of the parks visitor services are located on State Park Road along the waterfront of Deep Creek Lake. The park includes approximately 1 mile of shoreline on this, Maryland's largest man-made lake. Access is available for fishing, swimming, and boat launching. Several picnic areas offer excellent views of the lake with easy access to the beach and other facilities.

Swallow Falls State Park : This mountain park is located nine miles north of Oakland, Maryland and contains some of Maryland's most breathtaking scenery. The Youghiogheny River flows along the park's borders, passing through shaded rocky gorges and creating rippling rapids. Muddy Creek Falls is a crashing 53-foot waterfall – a spectacular sight. Tall hemlocks dominate the silent woods. The meandering trails through Swallow Falls guide hikers to some of the most breath-taking scenery in Western Maryland.

Wonderful Stay!!!

  • 5 of 5

The house was a great place to stay. Wildlife every day. We were lucky enough to have a bear walk through the yard. The house was a great location so peaceful but minutes from the lake. Could have used more utensils but all in all - it was everything we expected and more. Loved it.

Family Vacation

  • 2 of 5

I felt the stay would have been more enjoyable if the house was checked before we got there. The hot tub was horrible and our stay was for 6 nights and we were only able to use it for 2 nights. We had to clean ping pong balls out of the pool table it seemed like the people before us played beer pong on the table. There were holes in the wall downstairs. It has a very damp and musty smell downstairs and needs a humidifier. There was food in the cabinets that had been expired for a month. There were items left in the washer.. It was a very nice location just seemed like someone dropped the ball on checking it to make sure it was ready for us.

The Hideaway Cabin is a beautiful cabin on a great piece of land.

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was the perfect spot for 12 friends to get together and have a great weekend getaway. Tons of space inside and a great front and backyard. In the woods, but just minutes from the water. Pool table, hot tub, fire pit, etc. we used it all and had an amazing time. We will definitely rent again when coming back to Deep Creek Lake!

Super clean and private. Definitely recommend

  • 5 of 5

My friends and I went up here for senior week and it was a great place to stay. It has a fire pit and a nice yard and it's so secluded yet there's also shop n' saves, gas, food, Walmart, etc. nearby. It has a nice walking trail and the house itself is clean and really nice

Nice place for the holidays

  • 4 of 5

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Hideway cabin. In agreement with previous review, it is tucked away and you need 4WD or a really sturdy car to get up the hill. The property has all of the basic amenities and kitchen is well-stocked with pots, pans, dishes, etc. It was very clean and comfortable for our stay. The best part was taking in the stars while in the hot tub on the deck. The view is spectacular on a clear night! Sheila was helpful in accommodating us for an early check in and the TV/wifi worked well. Just a note to be aware of is that you have to bring your own sheets (king sized, double and twins), towels, cleaning supplies however, there are pillows and comforters in the house. The information is in the "what to bring" but for us, it was the first time there was a requirement for a VRBO in the years we've been using it. I had to buy a set for the king size. On the upside, we didn't pay a security deposit and we were able to bring our black lab who had an absolute blast in the mountains. Thanks for a lovely and memorable holiday at Hideaway.

Deep Creek Lake, Maryland

Other Activities: Our favorite activities include boating on the lake, snow skiing at WISP, Visiting Swallow Falls, and Black Bear Falls.

Our favorite bar especially in the Summer is the Honi-Honi. The WISP resort also has great food and alot of activities including a Zip Line, Mountain Coaster, Dune buggies, and paint ball.

Golf: Wisp Resort Golf and Lodestone.

Golfstyles Magazine named the Wisp Resort Golf Course one of the “100 Must-Play Courses of the Mid-Atlantic.” Designed around the natural contours at the base of Wisp ski slopes, with breathtaking views of the mountains, this 6,700 yard, par 72 championship course ebbs and flows along tree-lined fairways, and past strategically placed bunkers and water hazards.

Ski: Wisp Mountain Resort

With a world renowned energy-efficient snowmaking system and over 100 inches of annual snowfall in Garrett County, Wisp's 132 acres of ski terrain provide snowsport enthusiasts an incredible winter playground. Non-skiers and boarders won't be left out, in fact, they'll have as much trouble deciding what to do next with all that Wisp Resort and the Deep Creek Lake area have to offer: mountain coaster, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiling, fly fishing and more.
