Welcome to the Flying V7 Ranch, Stay in the Longhorn Room in the Bunk House. This 165 acre working ranch is surrounded by thousands of acres of State and Federal Land. Bring your horse and enjoy miles of trails and dirt roads. This beautiful rugged country is also perfect for hiking, biking, jeeps and quads, in a historical area. The Flying V7 Ranch headquarters is nestled in the Dripping Springs Mountains where the Old Stage Coach Station was located. The Stagecoach from Tucson, Florence, and Globe stopped right here. The old rock Stagecoach building has been converted to a little church (see picture) and featured in Arizona Highways Magazine. Pearl Hart 'The Lady Bandit' was the first known female Stagecoach robber, robbing the Stagecoach in May 1899 in the Dripping Springs Mountains. She led a notorious life. You can find her name carved on a rock in the canyon.
The Flying V7 Ranch is centrally located 100 miles North of Tucson and 100 miles East of Phoenix.
We are 30 minutes from the Apache Gold Casino, and San Carlos Reservation, the home where Geronimo lived and roamed. We are close to the White Mountain Reservation and Fort Defiance. This area is full of History and many places to go and things to do. Roosevelt Lake is great for boating and fishing only 1 hour away. We are near several Copper Minds and Indian Ruins.
The Ranch is a perfect place for Bird Watchers; Humming Birds, Oriels, Cardinals, numerous Quail and many other variety of birds. Animals that have been seen are Kudamundi, Fox, Mountain Lion, Bear, Deer, and other small game animals. Or just sit quietly and listen to the crickets. Catch up on your reading and relaxation. Each Casita has numerous books and DVDs for your enjoyment.
We have converted the Bunk House into Tex-Mex style Studio Casitas for your enjoyment. The Texas Room and the Longhorn Room each sleeps 4 comfortably. There is no additional charge to use our Horse Corrals and Pastures. Just bring your horse, your own horse feed and clean up after them.
Glenn a former businessman is a Retired Rancher and Retired Deputy Sheriff. Originally from Texas but made Arizona his permanent home when he found the Flying V7 Ranch and fell in love with this area. Diana is a 4th generation Arizonan and has been in the hospitality industry for many years. We are excited to open our Ranch for you to visit and enjoy.
Diana purchased this bungalow in 1997
When Glenn drove onto the Ranch for the first time, there were several things that made the decision easy to make the Flying V7 home. The mountain directly behind the Headquarters House has a V and a 7 in the face of the mountain. A ledge of Rock for the 7 and the mountain slides into a V. Glenn couldn't ask for a better sign than that. But the beauty of the surrounding area, the peace and quiet and the remote location away from the 'hustle and bustle' of everyday life made it easy to call this place 'Home'.
What ever the direction you may look, you will find a rugged beauty. We are surrounded by Federal and State land with hundreds of miles of trails and roads. You can explore all day everyday and not see it all. If you need a brake from the quiet, you will find that a 30 minute drive can take you to different places of interest; Casino, Mines, Ruins, Antique Shops. A 60 minute drive can take you to Lakes, Cities, Mountains or other wonderful activities.
This was a very nice place for me and just what I was looking for. Small, very clean and well kept. If you want some solitude you are surrounded by it. I brought my dirt bike and rode all over the local mountains. In the end I was rained out so I left a night early. No cable, no internet, and no cell service (at least for ATT and T-Mobile). Very nice people. Very nice dogs. Highly recommended if you want to get out of the rat race and relax in a remote area that still has access to Globe or Apache Gold Casino not too far away.
What a unique spot to explore the wild terrain of an Arizona ranch and the surrounding area. Old mining roads and trails were fun to explore on foot or sometimes on our dirtbikes-(sometimes quite rocky and rough for dirtbikes though)
Diana and Glen are wonderful hosts and know lots of the history of the area. Every morning we were greeted by the friendly ranch dogs who were happy to take a little stroll with us. Evenings by the campfire watching the desert sky was wonderful. Globe is the closest town to the ranch - perhaps 20 miles away which has an interesting history and everything you need.
Diana and Glen's place is a good place to use a base to then go off and explore other nearby areas of Arizona. If you like open places to explore or just relax this is lovely.
We are about 20 miles from the largest town which is Globe AZ This is where you will find Restaurants, Bars, Banks, Churches, Hospital, and Groceries
