About the property

Cabin, 2 Bedrooms + Loft, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8-10)

A rare home in this market! Nestled beside the Carson National Forest in the Village of Taos Ski Valley with incredible views, a few steps to fly fishing the Rio Hondo, spacious accommodations. This is an authentic log cabin -- updated to provide comfort -- with an expansive upstairs loft, one outbuilding that holds a game room, a second studio outbuilding for quiet retreats (sleeps two) and complete mountainside privacy. Master bedroom with queen bed, two queens and two twins in the upstairs loft, and two twins in the studio. Wood-burning stove (worry not -- the home has central heat) -- full kitchen, and (of course!) a hot tub for relaxing after a day of enjoying your mountain resort experience.

Spread out in the pet-friendly main house, enjoy a movie on your DirectTV satellite service, or settle in for a Foosball challenge in the game room. Your secluded back porch holds the hot tub and offers among the most majestic mountain views on earth. The kids can take over the loft, play a movie or a round of scrabble while you unwind downstairs. The living room offers lounging comfort and more views. Washer and dryer located on the main floor, and full amenities make an extended stay inviting. This home is available for a three night minimum, and long-term guests are also welcomed at affordable rates.

Venturing out into the world of this all-season mountain resort is also a pleasure from here. At the entrance to the resort, you have easy access to a full array of shops and restaurants. Enjoy fine dining at the Bavarian, St. Bernard or Edelweiss or, sink your teeth into to the famous burgers and green chile stew at the Stray Dog. Taos is known not to mention world class skiing, hiking, fishing, horseback riding, mountain biking and snowshoeing.

Your stay begins even before you arrive, in the hands of professional, on-site management. You will have contact information giving you access to immediate attention, 24/7, from a caretaker located only minutes away.

Please call or email your reservation today -- this home rents early for most major holidays, festivals and events because of its size. And we are ready to answer any questions, or just chat about the home, at any time.

Notes:
* This home is perfectly set for one or two families, with an open floor plan and a loft that sleeps six, plus a completely private studio which sleeps two (available only as part of the main house rental). There are two full baths, a hot tub on the porch off the master bedroom and a big porch in front. There are few homes of this size available on the rental market. What's more, this home is priced based on the number of people in your party, making it a phenomenal value, whether you are a romantic couple seeking an exclusive getaway or a two-family group with children. This is an unbeatable value in the Ski Valley.

Unique location very close to Taos Ski Valley

  • 4 of 5

This was a very unique residence that offered 3 cabins on the property plus a hot tub out back. Overall the house was clean and cozy and had great views of the mountains and we enjoyed our time here. Some negatives were that there is next to no water pressure in the shower and the oven needs fixed or replaced but overall we had a very nice stay and would go back for sure if ever in Taos again.

Taos Ski Valley Vacation

  • 4 of 5

The four 1/2 star rating is what we would give this Cabin for a couple reasons on the property and for the management (not owner) that manages the house.

Love the authentic Log Cabin. A plus for us was on having snow all around the place when we got there. Grandkids loved it!!

Never used the other two buildings. Weather was cold, *25 and there was no heat in them but space heaters. You are right there near Ski Valley, 5 minute drive. We loved that!

Reasons for 4 1/2 stars; water pressure very low even for just one person to shower and it went from scalding hot to freezing cold. We dealt with it. Downstairs bath towels was thin and old. They need to be thrown away and replaced. I asked management company questions about the needs of the house weeks before our vacation and finally got some responds the day before we left. There is a note on the contract that says for renters to clean and dry a load of towels before we leave. Strip beds and an optional idea but would like for us to clean a load of sheets. What was our cleaning fee for? I asked if we needed laundry detergent, toilet paper or paper towels. We got no response. So glad we bought TP because there was none. No laundry detergent to help housekeeping. Also, be aware that you are in the woods and there are small mice that roam the kitchen counter tops at night. Leave nothing out or on the floors. One got into my backpack! Haha! About the trash, no one came by to pick it up on the day they said they would. Don’t start a fire in the old stove, it makes it way to hot up stairs. The floor heater downstairs did great set on 60 at night. There are two step downs, they are not toddler children friendly or elderly friendly. The upstairs was perfect for a family of 4 to stay in. Beds were very comfortable and the hot tube was great after skiing all day. As for cell phones and WiFi, well not so much. We used our HotSpot on our IPad in the cabin. The drive into town was 15 -20 minutes. Beautiful drive!

We loved the idea of the place, very charming. The owner was very nice and easy to work with, management company needs to step up to His standards.

We would like to return maybe one spring and go fishing.

Overall, Nice Stay

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at the Ridgerunner Cabin. It was nice and the lay out was perfect for our needs. Plenty of bedding and blankets and the temperature was easy to keep regulated. The only thing I'd warn others of is that it is a bit lacking in being totally stocked for a large group of 10. There weren't enough coffee mugs, nor wine glasses. We made due, as we bought some at Ski Valley and used those, so it wasn't a big deal. However, we did have to make a trip into Taos to buy washcloths and toilet paper, as there were no washcloths and very limited toilet paper. Bring your own. Still, overall, we would def. stay here again. It was convenient to the slopes and was easy to cook dinner for our big crew in the evenings. Also, the lady I dealt with was very sweet. I'd recommend to anyone--just make note to bring a few extra items for large groups.

Owner's Response: Melissa, Thank you for your review and comments. We have since stocked all necessary items for a larger group. We did realize we were short on some dishes and we will make it clear where we stock the extra toilet paper and paper towels to future visitors. Thanks again and we hope to see you again soon! This is our 2nd year to stay at Ridgerunner. Highly recommend this cabin to anyone wanting to ski Taos and don't want to spend the resort prices.

Perfect summer getaway

  • 5 of 5

Great place for a summer getaway! The Ridge Runner Cabin is the perfect place to enjoy the Taos ski valley in the summer months. The cabin has a game room, direct TV, legos, and hot tub which was perfect for my three young boys. The cabin is cozy, clean and has everything you need.

Great vacation spot!

  • 5 of 5

Great place for a ski trip! Authentic cabin in a gorgeous location. We stopped at the grocery store in Taos to stock up on groceries for the week and certainly made use of the full kitchen. Hot tub, DirectTV, game room, coffee pot, plenty of space for 8 to sleep, 2 full baths, washer/dryer....what more could you ask for? As others have stated, the ski resort is just over the hill....probably too far to walk, but less than a 5 minute drive. During our trip, Taos Ski Valley was running free parking lot shuttles that picked us up in the parking lot and dropped us at the little village at the base of the ski mountain. Of note, we are novice skiers and Taos is a challenging mountain (very steep). The owner, property manager, and caretaker were easy to work with and responded to emails/messages quickly. Cell phone reception is virtually non-existent, and that prevented the teen-agers from bumping into things while walking and looking at their phones.....I saw more of their eyes this week than I have in months!

We would definitely go back to the Ridgerunner! Thanks for giving us a great vacation.....
