About Karen Pritchard

Originally from England, worked on Holland America Line Cruises as British Ballroom Dance Champion before landing in Florida. Visiting friends in Boothbay, I fell in love with the area, it's heritage, the people, and of coarse the charm and beauty of the town. Each year we stay longer from May-Oct to enjoy each season as one becomes more beautiful than the one before. It truely is a slice of heaven.

Karen Pritchard purchased this condo in 2011

Why Karen Pritchard chose Boothbay

Purchased this property because it reminded me of my youth in England. Visiting my Grandmother who had a house similar in age, 1890's. It's bright and full of sunshine and we love to open all the windows and enjoy the fresh air that Maine offers. It has a lot of the original charm, but has modern touches for the enjoyment of the vacation.

What makes this condo unique

This quaint costal town is lined with lobster boats in the bay, fabulous restaurants and shops in town and over 30 miles of hiking trails. A pictureque historic 1.000 ft footbridge which connects the east and west sides of the inner harbor, great for walking to Barrett's Park where you can picnic, swim and sunbathe. We also have New England's largest Botanical Gardens filled with sculptures and trails with over 250 waterfront and woodland trails to enjoy. Discover by car the many Lighthouses including the ever popular Pemaquid Point Light built in 1827. Not to forget the Artists and Sculptures, Writers, Musicians & Performers that share their work with the community.

Abundant events thoughout the year in town festivals, local bars and great musical theatres makes it the perfect place for you to absorb all the beauty that the peninsula of Boothbay Harbor affords.

Boothbay Harbor has also one of the best-known boating centers in New England. The harbor has over 20 excursion boat trips daily in season. Grab a picnic and go to near-by Islands, or take the shoreline wildlife watching tour or the ever popular Whale siteseeing trips. Don't forget the fishing trips, canoeing or board surfing available right in town.

Rain or Shine there is always something to do from Museums, Live Theatre Shows, to Visiting the many Lighthouses or great shopping at stores filled with Local quality hand made items to locally made taffy or the maple flavored popcorn. Missing the gym head to the Local YMCA to swim, workout or play sports, Yoga or Zumba Classes.

What's really nice is not having to drive to town to enjoy the local bands, an evening meal, maybe an ice-cream and walk 5 mins to home, PERFECT!

Great fresh Lobster at local restaurants or perhaps you might find a treasure at the weekend Yards sales or Antique auctions. Newly reconstructed Golf coarse in BBH & visit the weekly town market for the freshest locally grown foods.

Whatever your pleasure it's here in Boothbay Harbor.

Great location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the two bedroom for a week in September. The apartment is beautifully maintained, comfortable, and in a perfect location. You can walk to shopping and restaurants. Karen was so helpful and was a wonderful hostess. One night, we mentioned being warm and she brought us a box fan, along with delivering a new corkscrew for our bottle of wine! There is a lot to do in the area and many places to explore. The botanical gardens should not be missed. You cannot go wrong with renting this perfect spot.

Wonderful Stay

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed in the 2 bedroom for a week. Loved the colors used !

Best of all was the porch - great views - tide in and tide out!

There was a huge family gathering in the large home next door. Was wonderful

to see so many generations having a wonderful time together. They had fireworks

over the water - fabulous !

Would only recommend that 1 couple stay here as there is no closet or place to put your clothes, etc. in

the queen room. we used the double as our closet. worked out great!

Would highly recommend this property to anyone. We just loved the place.

Thank you for our wonderful stay.

Wonderful Condo in Boothbay Harbor

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I spent a week in the 2 bed condo and it was wonderful. Karen is the perfect hostess and had a welcome basket on the table for us when we arrived. Although there were only 2 of us, we wanted the 2 bed condo for the deck view of the bay and it was an excellent decision. We spent a lot of time out there to enjoy both the view and the wonderful cool breeze. The walk to town was quick and easy. The condo had everything we needed for the meals when we ate in. The condo is nicely furnished and decorated, and had so many thoughtful extras - lots of tourist information, blankets in the living room, heated towel rack, DVDs, 2 coffee machines, and a laundry room available in the basement. I would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it to others!!!!!!

There is only one place I would stay If I were to come back to Boothbay!!

  • 5 of 5

I spent almost one month in Karen's cozy one bed condo in the delightful and perfectly placed Mill house.

From day one on move in, I was amazed at just what lengths Karen had gone too in order to supply every possible appliance you could possibly need! Plates, Keurig coffee makers, spare towels, super fast wifi, every cable channel and even down to the little touches like a full roll of good quality paper towels and magazines/puzzles. Karen had even supplied a portable towel warmer in the bedroom as she made me aware that they can be hard to dry in the Maine damp climate. The bed was awesome and the air con and heating allowed you to choose a perfect temperature that suited you. Hot water was immediate and the shower pressure was way way better than average or to be expected.

The exterior was just as delightful with lush gardens and awesome views of the bay. Laundry facilities were also available for free and worked fantastic.

Overall guys, if you are a couple looking for a perfectly placed and extremely comfortable apartment which you wont want to leave grab this if at all possible!!

Karen and her partner are super cool and make you feel right at home... I miss it :(

Great place to stay to explore Boothbay and surrounding harbors

  • 5 of 5

Accommodations were very clean and comfortable......great place to come back to and relax after exploring Boothbay and the surrounding harbors all day. Karen, the owner, was very helpful and the welcome basket was appreciated. We recommend Mill Cove and certainly would consider renting again if we decide to revisit the Boothbay area. Another plus is its close location to the wonderful Botanical Gardens.

Things to Do and See in and Around Boothbay Harbor:-

If you’re looking for the authentic mid-coast Maine experience, this is it. Perhaps the most scenic body of ocean water on the eastern seaboard, mid-coast Maine features scores of islands, historic lighthouses, quiet little protected harbors and towns offering clothing and craft shops, art galleries and restaurants. A wild life paradise; ospreys and bald eagles nest high in the spruces along the rugged shores, harbor seals complete their annual pilgrimage to quiet coves and dolphins and whales loll about in the waves.

Outings: Take a day and visit Arcadia National Park, or one of the many lighthouses on the coast. Go to the outlet Mall in Freeport or visit the Ironworks at Bath for a great historical look into the making of the great steamships of a bygone era. Wiscasset is filled with museums from the old sea captains to the incredible music box museum.
