Love this place!

  • 5 of 5

I have visited Chris and Sams house in Pelican Point twice now. We had a great time there, and the fishing and snorkeling are top notch right in front of the boat ramp. I am sure I will be back many times in the future. Freddy the caretaker is very nice as well. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to get away from the hustle and bustle. The only thing I would recommend is to bring plenty of food as there are not allot of dining options at this end of the island. But who cares about restaurants when there are fish to be caught and snorkeling to be done! I am sure I will be back with my family in the near future. Have a good day!! Dylan

Best. Vacay. Ever.

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from this beautiful home! We couldn't have asked for more perfect weather as well as an amazing vacation! Freddie and his wife are wonderful, they answered all questions and were very helpful! The owners even contacted us on the trip to discuss/take care of a little issue we had with the boat. We ventured out every day snorkeling and spearfish in the beautiful water. We used a local named PJ from the east end to take us out one day for spearfishing. Bishops in High Rock has great food as well as a bar on the sandy beach! Coopers in Mclean's is delicious as well. We were able to learn the island pretty well and found Sawyer's Save a lot for groceries, found out they have better prices than Solomons-which is just down the street from Sawyer's. The house is well equipped with everything you need! The beach is breath taking! We also had Stephaine Poth from Freeport come and take family photos- she truly captured the beauty of this place! (I will upload some pictures on here if I can.)

Honestly if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, you have come to the perfect place! Bring bug spray :) if the wind isn't blowing the sand flies will get ya.

We brought our own spearfishing/snorkeling gear, although we were beginners we didn't go one evening without fresh fish on the table.

We can not wait to return-already planning on coming back next year!!

All the locals are very nice and love sharing stories with you!

Although there was a hurricane that came through back in October, Grand Bahama and Freeport are rebuilding the island and looking forward to the tourist coming back.

Truly one of the best vacations we have ever been on!

Thank you Chris and Sam for letting us enjoy your paradise!!

High quality property in a superb location

  • 5 of 5

We had a super family holiday - parents, grandparents, 12 yr old twins and a 17 year old daughter. First the house - it is built and furnished to a high standard, all of the rooms are spacious and comfortable and the decorations are very tasteful. The verandah and deck are a very relaxing place to be, grandma spent hours reading beneath the coconut palms and even tamed a lizard. Barbecuing in the evenings was fun although the no see um flies can be a pain. You can fish while you barbecue - we caught (and released) lots of fish. The beach is truly lovely - there are rock pools in front of the house and you can find all sorts of creatures under the rocks. Pelicans fly past every day and stingrays occasionally pass too. The boat is a real bonus. The sea was a little rough but it coped well. You launch from a ramp about a mile out of town. There is a lot of shallow coral, mostly in decent condition and with a reasonable amount of sea life. Further out there are rock formations in deeper water - fewer but bigger fish. We saw a dolphin, turtles, reef sharks, nurse sharks, barracuda, grouper, rays and lots of reef fish. The people of Pelican point are really friendly and welcoming - Reverend Freddie Laing looks after the house and is good company. Several of us went to the Sunday service at the church and were made very welcome. Food-wise there is a basic shop in Macleans Town but really you have to buy groceries in Freeport. Prices are high. Eating out - you have to go to Coopers in Macleans Town - very clean and superb lobster. If you like peace and quiet and being outdoors you can't do better than this.

A perfect escape - couldn't ask for any better

  • 5 of 5

When we looked for a vacation destination, we were looking to get away. We needed down time, and an opportunity to relax and unwind. Paradise Found was exactly all that. A gorgeous location, lovely property, and wonderful, wonderful time!

The owners of the property were friendly and helpful, providing us "first timers" with plenty of guidance and help. The instructions for the property are comprehensive and getting from the airport to Paradise Found was a breeze. Freddy, who assists with check in, check out and other logistics is a friendly local and it's wonderful to know he's nearby to assist if necessary.

The house was extremely well equipped with comfortable furniture, and everything you could need for a relaxing week at the beach. The decor was perfect and we really were at our dream beach getaway! The instructions include detailed info about what to bring with you, and what to buy for food etc right after the airport, so we weren't lacking for anything.

Of course, the best part of it all is that that GORGEOUS beach is not even 30 feet away from the huge glass sliders lining the beach side of the house. Two of the bedrooms and the large open plan living room/kitchen/ dining room have permanent dream beach views. Everything is well-maintained, and there is even an outdoor shower to rinse off the sand from the beach. The wood walkway leading to the hammock and the beach is great, too.

The ocean is perfect, and the clear water (except for the 2 days that Tropical Storm Julia went past!) was perfect for snorkeling and seeing the fish right off the beach. We also saw small sand sharks, large stingrays, a barracuda and dolphins - all in one day! We picked up beautiful shells and fan seaweed off the beach, took long walks and generally had an amazing time. There were a sum total of about 5 people (all locals) who walked past the entire week!

As a professional photographer, I was in my element and plan on doing a blog post with photos soon (you can see it at when I get around to it :P ) The sea really IS that turquoise, the fish really are that beautiful, and the sunsets are just incredible.

We had the most amazing time of our lives for our "once-in-a-lifetime" vacation, and even though we had said this is our "once-in-a-lifetime" we hope to be back one day!
