A beautiful quiet unique apartment overlooking the sea, and the main street of town. Minutes from all facilities including the supermarket which stocks anything you may have thought you might need and many things you may not need but just like. There are cafes and restaurants and a pub or two, plus the best fish'n'chip shop in the world almost next door.
The apartment has a large open plan room with lots of comfy sofas, two of which fold out into double beds. There is a small kitchen and bedroom, and a separate bathroom and toilet, and best of all a wonderful wood burner and loads of wood. There is no washing machine but washing could be negotiated with the owner.
If you really want to get creative you might want to fish off the wharf where locals catch a salmon or a blue cod on occasion. There are also fishing charters and the ferry to Stewart Island.
Come walk around the art gallery, where most of the work is created by local people. Then have a coffee with Mac and his faithful hound, Charlie. They can tell you many a story of local lore.
If you drive up Bluff Hill you can see several of the local islands including Stewart Island and if you go at night you may see the moon rise out of the sea in front of you. Bluff Hill is a sanctuary so there are several walks with wonderful views, native bush and lots of bird life. There are cycling tracks as well, some which are a challenge to the hardiest rider.
The apartment is a grand stopping place either for overnight on your way to or from Stewart Island, or simply as a place to hide away and regenerate body and soul. Indeed we have a particular author who sees this as her inspiration.
This is a non smoking apartment and there are stairs to reach it. There are cooking facilities and you may negotiate with your hosts for BBQ use, and have access to outside beautiful garden areas. If you are there for more than a week and require laundry facilities this can be arranged with your hosts.
Extras: Cleaning (included); Linen (included); Complimentary tea, coffee, breakfast cerals, toast (included);
The apartment is wonderful. It's a huge area, upstairs above an art gallery and cafe , with a wood burner and simply oozes charm. The bed is very comfortable and the bathroom fine. It's an old building and the night we were there it was blowing a gale and pouring with rain - the apartment creaked a bit as the wind howled about but it all added to the atmosphere. And everything is supplied - all you need. It's a fabulous bargain if you can get in!
Fabulous location, spacious and comfortable.
Easy to find ,property was spacious and cosy with the fire place a bonus.
The location is really good!
I had a small problem and tried to call sue and I had no answer, also I think the price is a bit expensive for 2 people, that's why I don't gave 5 star!
We loved our stay here. A cosy, friendly place. We loved the peaceful afternoons resting with the muted sounds of jazz music coming from the gallery below.
best place in bluff I have stayed in 3 other places in bluff this is the best.... home away from home
