I have been working on properties since the age of 9 when I would do odd and end repairs and cleaning for my grandfather. I knew from a young age that I wanted to be a landlord and redo homes for a living. From a young age I enjoyed meeting new people and be a part of their lives. There is more to being a landlord than fixing a plumbing issue it is like being part of a large family.
I am blessed to have a job that is also a hobby. To create a home for a person rather it’s a property I lease or a property I restore and sell it has been an awesome experience and a life long journey. To see a person love their home you helped create is extremely joyful.
As a landlord and investor my number one rule is to never give a customer a product I would not want myself. I have tenants that have been living at this location for decades for that very reason and if there is a furnished unit available when I visit Baton Rouge I love to stay on the property.
I started doing short term rentals by accident. I had a unit that I used on my visits and decided I would lease the property during the time I was not using the unit. I was in the army for a few years and I had to stay in a hotel for 9 months and it was not for me I did not realize how many other people preferred homes over hotel rooms but I understand why.
I moved to Milwaukee after hurricane Katrina so I travel back and forth from Milwaukee to Baton Rouge and from Milwaukee to New Orleans. Milwaukee is a wonderful place but sometimes it is nice getting out of the cold.
I enjoy jazz, sitting outside and enjoying the weather and sometimes just an old fashioned lazy day.
James Cristina purchased this apartment in 1969
This complex is like staying in a little excluded community. Many people do not even know it exist and for the most part we like to keep it that way. Your GPS will not even get you to the location Google has never been inside the compound. We are a gated community. Don’t let the 10 foot brick wall across the front and the chain link entrance gate fool you come in and walk into our courtyards you will see what I keep hidden from the general public. I did that on purpose to keep our little community from sticking out and my gate works it is not like the many that are around the city sitting open. I used brutalism on the exterior of the property the beauty is within the gates. It may look like a storage facility from the street but when you get past the gates you will see what you would never know was there.
The complex was built in 1969 with the New Orleans spirit in mind. The Complex is truly one of a kind. The units sit on beautiful landscaped courtyards with exotic plant life. When you walk out in the morning you are not greeted by a parking lot full of cars you are greeted by beauty and a lot of times your neighbors sitting out and about the courtyards reading a paper or their Ipads having a cup of coffee; don’t be surprised when you are offered a cup. It is not just the courtyards and the apartments that make the Chateau; it is the people living there that make the place come to life. You will not leave the Chateau without making a friend or two unless you really want to. On a beautiful night you can walk through the courtyards and see the residents sitting around visiting one another. If you are visiting Baton Rouge for an event, work or pleasure make the Chateau your home away from home! You will think you are on vacation.
The Chateau is a happy place if you are not friendly this would not be the best fit for you. If you treat your neighbors as you would like to be treated come be our guest.
Our Residents, Beautiful courtyards, and the New Orleans feeling you receive while visiting the Chateau. It is defiantly a memory you will never forget.
Stay was cool. Nice property. Tried contacting owner, but no response. There wasn't an iron/ ironing board available as listed. Overall we had a nice stay.
Not what was expected! Very disappointed! Owner was not easy to work with and accomodations were not the ones in the photos, we were given a completely different unit that wasn't decorated or cleaned. May be different now as it appeared units were being updated at that time and we had our small dogs with so could be reason for not being put into a nicer unit. The apartment complex manager was very helpful and did the best to make us happy and I must say thankyou to this person as it appeared to be not an easy job!
The apartment was clean and well maintained. It was a little difficult to locate, but once we found it we loved it! It was secure and we enjoyed the privacy. We hosted family Christmas eve for over 20 people and found it to be perfect! We recommend this place for anyone staying in the Baton Rouge area!
Glad I found this place because of the location, it was convenient. I was impressed with how clean the place was, with new-looking furniture. The apartment complex has a pool too, which was nice. Overall I'd stay here again.
