We spent years designing and building our dream home in Ecuador and now we would like to share it with you. A combination of modern and rustic elements has resulted in a unique luxury home in the beautiful beach community of Ayampe.
The house is a very spacious and open two bedroom plan with two large loft spaces, nestled in the tree tops. The loft spaces include a game room with a pool table that converts to a ping-pong table and a lounge with a movie screen and projector that can be converted into a sleeping loft with three twin beds. The two bathrooms located on the main level are both equipped with luxurious rain showers. The kitchen is fully equipped with all the amenities. There is even a laundry room for your convenience.
Ayampe’s 4-mile long beach is a short bare-foot walk around the corner. Good restaurants, perfect surf, bird watching, and whale watching are all a stone’s throw away. However, with a pool, jacuzzi, and heated outdoor rain shower, you may never want to leave the grounds.

Stephanie Shideler purchased this house in 2011
Knowing very little about Ecuador, we booked a trip around Christmas of 2010 to Ayampe in Manabi, Ecuador. After a two week stay, we left with a piece of land and two puppies. Needless to say, we fell in love with the country and more than anything our little slice of paradise in Ayampe. It took us three years to design and build our home, now refered to by the locals as 'La Casa Blanca Moderna'.
There is really nothing like this house in Ayampe or the surrounding area. It's been described as 'the best Gringo house' in Ecuador, which we think means that we've been able to bring a beautiful 'gringo' mix of modern and rustic elements in an open-concept house, with all the modern conveniences.
This is a gorgeous rental!
Very clean, well stocked kitchen, comfy beds and modern baths. Owner was great to work with and very responsive to all communications. Caretaker greeted us on arrival so any questions could be answered. The ping pong/pool table was an added bonus after a great day on the beach as well as the hot tub and pool.
We had a fantastic time at this property. Our kids loved the pool/hot tub as well as the ping pong upstairs. The house is a short walk from the beach and we loved the quiet/small town of ayampe. There is also a wildlife reserve very close to the property that is excellent for bird watching called jotocoto. Make sure you visit isla de la plata. We saw lots of blue footed boobies, humpback whales and amazing fish! Thank you for sharing your house with us! We hope to come back someday!
the House was perfect for our two families, we are two couples with three children (boys).
The space was perfect; the rooms were spacious and very comfortable… the pool and game room kept the boys entertained.
the kitchen was spacious and the gas stove made cooking a pleasure ( we like to cook )…all in all an amazing house. the attention to detail in the design throughout the house made our stay very enjoyable and made us feel right at home. Ivan the house keeper and Alex the property manager were both extremely helpful with local tips and recommendations and readily available if there we any issues.
The property is a about a five minute walk to the beach and across the street from a small b and b, which serves breakfast and is a good place for local info as well.
Would definitely recommend this property to anyone visiting Ayampe.
Very nice, well thought out, well equipped and esthetically pleasing house. No view to speak of but a nice little pool to cool off after the scorching sun at the beach (300 yards away). Alex is super helpful with tips on everything from local eateries and groceries shopping to excursion (her restaurant, a 3 mn drive away, is excellent too). Ayampe is a small, simple beach community with several simple hotels, and a few restaurants (including the pizza across the road from the house). Around New Years Eve the sea was very warm and inviting, with rolling waves that we played in for hours.
Ayampe is a beautiful, quiet beach community in the lush, green province of Manabi. 30 minutes north of the Montanita party-scene, Ayampe offers tranquility and natural beauty with a quiet beach that spans 4 miles, good surf, whale watching, numerous local restaurants, wildlife hikes, horesback riding, fishing - the list goes on.
