Overview

About the property

2BR cute and quiet. Hardwood floors, deck looks out over huge back yard

We bought this comfortable gem about 10 years ago because it was next door to our house and we wanted to make sure it stayed well maintained. We rented it by the year until we started renting the 'big house' (Outrageous Cabin in the Woods) on VRBO and now we pop back and forth between them and two others we own in the neighborhood. The house comes fully equipped with appliances including washer and dryer. Central air and gas heat, microwave etc, etc. Since we stay there sometimes we make sure that all the kitchen gear you may need is there as well: coffee, salt, pepper, etc. It really is difficult to conceive that you are less than two miles from WFU and about 8 minutes from Winston Salem's extremely vibrant downtown. We have traveled extensively and used VRBO in Europe and South America on many occasions so we like to think we know what travelers expect on a stay. We stay in the background but are generally close by if the need arises for assistance.

very quiet neighborhood, yet convenient to everything

Had a great time at this cottage. It worked well for our two lab dogs as the front yard is fenced.

I would recommend to anyone needing to stay in the Winston-Salem area.

Cozy oasis

  • 5 of 5

We were in town to work on a project which involved grueling manual labor. We truly relished our relaxation time each evening on the deck listening to the surrounding wildlife. We felt like we were camping! The house itself is adorable, warm and charming, and we felt completely at home.

Quaint and Quiet Little Place

  • 5 of 5

Nice location in a quiet neighborhood close to a lot of the great things that Winston-Salem has to offer. The back patio and grill were a nice touch that paired well with the gorgeous weather we had on our last day in town.

Clean, Comfy, Quiet, and Cute!

  • 5 of 5

If you love trees, as I do, you will love this property. The trees are the tallest I've ever seen in a neighborhood. I think because the birds are so well protected in such a tall tree-canopy, the variety of birds here is incredible. I enjoyed listening to them while walking my dog along the safe, sparsely traveled roads of this neighborhood.

I stayed in this cottage, which has a high cute factor, with my dog and my daughter's family (my daughter was interviewing for a position at Wake Forest). We found the beds to be very comfortable, and the neighborhood was peaceful and quiet. The owners live next door, which is nice (though we never had reason to contact them). The kitchen had everything we needed. There's a fenced-in front yard: appropriate for a dog and a small child to run around in; and in the back is a large south-facing deck that looks out upon a fine stand of glorious hardwoods. At the southern edge of the property is a small creek into which my three year--old grandson enjoyed throwing sticks.

My only initial disappointment with this house was that it had just one bathroom (read toilet); however, that ended up not being a problem. We three adults (and the three year-old) were able to share the bathroom without any lines forming for the toilet. In the basement of this house is a washer and dryer. Since our party also included a six-month-old baby who likes to drool and spit up her food, we made good use of the laundry facilities.

If I'm ever in the area again, I will definitely stay here. I highly recommend this adorable cottage.

We are in the Northwest quadrant of Winston Salem, close to Wake Forest University. We are surrounded by multiple mid to high end grocery stores as well as many ethnic restaurants: Chinese, Indian, Italian, Mexican etc. The entrance to the house is directly under a street light, and there is a bright green mailbox at the end of the driveway so it's hard to miss.
