Newfound Lake has been referred to as New Hampshire's best kept secret and is known for excellent trout and bass fishing. This is an excellent location for swimming, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, hiking and winter skiing, ice fishing and snowmobiling.

This is an all year, four season vacation rental. Great for all year family vacations - summer, fall, winter and spring swimming, hiking snowmobiling and skiing. This large spacious log home is ten years old with semi-private beach access to 110' foot of shore front on Newfound Lake. The view from the glass front and deck is partial through the trees but the treed shore and beach area is steps away and water's edge is 75 yards from front deck. This tree shaded and open beach area is shared with only one other home.

This log home is located on the West shore of Newfound Lake in the town of Hebron, NH. It is situated down a private dirt road in a protected cove. The view from the beach is looking at the widest part of the lake in a very peaceful and quiet part of the lake. This glacial lake is a beauty in the middle of New Hampshire and is 2.5 miles wide and 7 miles long, reaching depths of up to 180 feet, with 22 miles of shoreline. The water, fed by eight springs, is considered the most pristine in the state. The Lakes Region of New Hampshire is such a wonderful vacation spot for so many people year after year. Newfound Lake had many camps. The greatest impact on Hebron from the establishment of these camps, especially the ones that survive to this day, was unintentional. Large areas of shoreline and many acres of surrounding land have been kept in natural condition because of these camps. Further, in several cases, the land is now locked away in perpetual trusts that insures that these many acres remain forever wild. Between 1925 and 1945 tourism was a full blown industry at Hebron. The great camps that owned so much of the lakeshore on the north end kept the tourism activities and population density in Hebron much lower than that on the south end. This is still true today. Whereas, cottages and bungalows dotted the southern half, the northern half of the lake was limited to campgrounds, inns and private camp complexes. We are blessed to be in this special part of Newfound Lake!

Newfound Lake has been referred to as New Hampshire's best kept secret and is known for excellent trout and bass fishing.

There are two Wilderness System sea kayaks, one Old Town canoe, paddles, adult life vests and various child life vests plus tubes and floats and Inflatable boat with paddles. There is a basketball hoop on paved driveway. There is wireless internet and cable television and board games for indoor entertainment for those bad weather days.

Interaction with Guests

I will provide a very detailed home 'manual' with directions before arrival including a link to things in the area. I might be there to greet on your arrival or I might give you the code to get the key from a lock box. We are always a quick email or phone call away for any questions or problems.

The Neighborhood

I have two homes on Newfound Lake that are separated by trees but are adjacent properties. This log home is adjacent to my ' Vintage Cottage on Newfound Lake'. The cottage is a 1920s seasonal cottage rustic and vintage with a private sandy beach while the log home is spacious with all the modern amenities and is a year round vacation rental with shared beach rights with only one other home (not cottage). Two very different lakeside experiences side by side waterfronts.

Perfect home for family group

  • 5 of 5

My family rented this wonderful home to stay together for my daughters wedding held at Ragged Mt. There was a first floor bedroom for my older folks and a downstairs bathroom for them. All the beds were comfortable and views just beautiful. Several of us enjoyed swimming in the lake, hiking and golfing nearby. We have already started talking about our next trip. Eileen was great to work with and I can't recommend this property enough.

Amazing house!

  • 5 of 5

My family rents a house every year in the winter, and this was by far my favorite vacation rental! The house is so much prettier in person. It was spacious and clean. The location to the lake was perfect. Eileen was great to deal. I can't wait to go back!

A perfect, relaxing family retreat!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I along with our children and grandchildren had a wonderful vacation at this beautiful lakefront log home. Eileen and Paul greeted us upon arrival and gave us a tour of the house and waterfront area. We knew this was the perfect place when a spectacular rainbow filled the sky as we walked to the water's edge. This vacation home had all the things necessary for a fun and relaxing vacation on a lake...kayaks, canoe, a float to jump off of into the crystal clear lake, a small sandy beach for the grandchildren and a scenic view of the mountains. Thank you for sharing this little piece of Heaven with us!

Beautiful and roomy

  • 5 of 5

The house is even more beautiful than the pictures portray. It is also super roomy. We enjoyed its central location and took our kids up to Santas Village (1.25 hrs), Polar Caves (15 min), Meredith (30 min).

We loved the log decor throughout the house!

Of note, the beach faces the owners family's beach- it is a shared space. Some days we had it to ourselves and other days we didn't. Eileen was very hospitable to us and our kids had a fabulous time, too!

When in the area we will definitely be hoping this is available again.

Shopping, Dining and Things to Do:

• You may hate to leave your vacation spot on Newfound Lake where you can do nothing, swim, float, kayak, canoe and fish without going anywhere but if you want to explore the area here are some options:

• Boating: There is a free public boat launch at Wellington State Park about 2 miles away and West Shore Marine with boats for rent. Two Wilderness System sea Kayaks and Old Town canoe and gear available with log home.

• Eco Tour on pontoon boat with Newfound Lake Association - educational experience that includes hands-on water quality testing, as well as historical and ecological information on Newfound lake.

• Fishing: New Hampshire license required. Newfound Lake has been referred to as New Hampshire's best kept secret. It is has excellent trout and bass fishing and one of the best known Landlocked Salmon and Lake Trout lakes in NH. The lake was first stocked with Landlocked Salmon in 1866. The water is well known for its exceptionally large Lake Trout, and the record Lake Trout for the state of NH was caught here. The waters are crystal clear and run up to 183 Ft. in the center. Best fishing for Lake Trout and Landlocked Salmon is in the upper section of the Lake. The 20 mile shoreline of this natural body of water is moderately developed; the bottom is rocky and sandy.

• Hiking: Hike the Elwell trail from Wellington State Park with easy hiking to the summits of Mt Sugarloaf and Little Sugarloaf with great views of the lake. Or hike Mt Cardigan Mount Cardigan's 3,121-foot treeless granite summit affords outstanding views of west central New Hampshire, with a panorama that includes Mount Monadnock and the White Mountains, Camel's Hump in Vermont, and Pleasant Mountain in Maine.

• Visit Sculptured Rocks - a narrow canyon of carved potholes and bedrock - a unique example of nature's powerful yet delicate artistry. The Cockermouth River carved a narrow canyon in bedrock on its way to Newfound Lake, beginning as the last ice age drew to a close. Nature used grains of sand suspended in the current to carve the walls of the canyon into curious shapes and create potholes in the bedrock

• Ruggles Mine, Polar Caves and Newfound Audubon Center

• Rumney Rocks Day Use Area - Rock Climbing in nearby Rumney, NH Rumney Rocks is one of the premier sport climbing destinations in the country. This area has become a focal point of hard sport climbing, with climbers from all over the world visiting during the fall season. Numerous crags dot the hillside of Rattlesnake Mountain. It is the rock that sets Rumney apart. The schist is reminiscent to wood, as the rock crystals form a definite 'grain.' Located off of Buffalo Road approximately one mile to the west of Rumney Center with two parking lots that are often filled to capacity on weekends. Ice Climbing is a winter option

• The log home is also a wonderful base from which you can explore hiking, shopping and attractions in the White Mountains. Little children will love Story Land and Santa's Village which are 70 miles North. Older children would like a trip to Whale's Tale water park and Hobo Hills miniature golf 34 miles N in Lincoln

• The Fall and Spring have wonderful views and hiking options and the Winter offers ice fishing, snowmobiling, hiking, snow shoeing, cross country skiing and downhill skiing or tubing. Ragged Mountain Ski Resort is only 18 miles away. Ski resorts Loon, Waterville Valley and Cannon Mountain are all good day trips and most ski resorts also offer summer activities such as hiking and zip lines and special events like beer fests.

• Snowmobiling is a great option in and around Newfound Lake. There are many snowmobile clubs that maintain an extensive network of trails that interconnect in regions around the entire lake.
