With three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a large living room and two outdoor tables, our 1-story, 1,777 square-foot, air-conditioned North Park Beauty very comfortably fits up to six people.

The roomy, tranquil house features a large living room with a flat-panel, smart TV, a DVD player and a small library of DVDs; a master bedroom suite with a king-size bed, flat-panel TV, a private bathroom with dual sinks, and a walk-in closet; a second bedroom with a queen-size bed; and a third bedroom with two twin beds. All the beds are very comfortable and feature luxurious sheets. There is a sunny kitchen with stainless steel appliances, a gas range and countertop seating, a dining room, a large-capacity washer/dryer, and a private backyard with a deck and outdoor shower. A Graco folding crib (Pack 'n' Play ) and high chair are available. And WiFi of course.

The private backyard offers a deck with an expandable table for 6 and a picnic table with bench seating, also for 6. The driveway has space for one vehicle and street parking is also available. A gardener will visit every couple of days, but will not need to enter the house.


North Park is ranked by Forbes as one of the coolest neighborhoods in the entire U.S. Founded in 1913, North Park’s Alta Dena section is full of restored Craftsman houses and is safe, quiet and friendly. Our 1930s home is a spacious, modern and beautifully updated 1-story house. Let the cool breezes, comfortable beds and private backyard relax you. Balboa Park, the San Diego Zoo, Coronado Island, the Chargers and the Padres, the Gaslamp District, Legoland, SeaWorld and the beaches are all easy to get to. Downtown, Petco Park and the Convention Center are only a 12-minute drive. Community tennis courts, a kids' playground and a large pool are only about 15 blocks from the house.


A small commercial district is only three blocks away, with: a coffeehouse, supermarket, convenience store, hair salon, brewpub, and a produce store selling organic fruits and vegetables that also prepares soups, salads and sandwiches for you to enjoy outdoors on their patio.

North Park is well known for many great restaurants, pubs and gastropubs. Plus, the trendy South Park neighborhood is only a 5-minute drive and features a coffeehouse, wine bar, craft beer pub, ice cream store, chocolatier, bookstore, restaurants, boutiques and more.

We’ve lived in San Francisco and Manhattan, LA’s Laurel Canyon, on the bluffs overlooking New York’s Hudson River, in Boulder, in the Bay area’s Marin County and the Sierra foothills of California – and San Diego is certainly one of the best! We appreciate its canyons, mountains, beaches and unbeatable climate.

A former French teacher, Fougère is a computer consultant who designs FileMaker Pro databases and Excel spreadsheets, while I’m a writer and editor who works mainly in advertising, marketing, consumer, tech and biotech. We also speak a little Spanish. We like hiking, swimming, Tai Chi and Yoga; cooking and craft beers; movies and theater; art and architecture; and reading – both fiction and nonfiction. In the next few years, we look forward to staying in vacation rental homes in London, Rome, Dublin, Berlin, Iceland and Japan.

As hosts, Steven and I are friendly, helpful and conscientious. As guests, we are quiet, clean, respectful and appreciate the same in return from our hosts, with cleanliness being important. We always enjoy getting to know our hosts.

We ask that you leave our home in good order: tidy and generally clean, especially the kitchen. Checkout 11 am – It takes a minimum of 5 hours to clean the house for the next guests’ arrival at 4 pm. And please reply now with your checkout time, so our cleaning crew can begin as soon as possible. Bedrooms Pillowcases and sheets – Please strip them from the beds and also separate the sheets from the blankets. Blankets – If possible, put them on a bed, dresser or chair, not on the floor. Towels – Kindly gather all of them together. However, DO NOT start washing any of the above, as the microfiber sheets require special treatment. Kitchen Please leave it neat and clean! Dishwasher – If there are items in the dishwasher, kindly start it. Detergent pellets are under the sink, on the left side next to the dishwasher. Smart TV In case you used your Netflix, Amazon, Hulu or another streaming account(s), please be sure to sign out. Security Please lock the front door upon departure!

Beautiful Home in North Park

We recently stayed in this beautiful home in North Park. It has everything you could possibly need!! The house is very neat and clean and felt like home the minute we walked in. The owners thought of every detail! Thank you so much! Close to everything in San Diego! 5 minutes to the zoo and Balboa Park. 15 mins to Coronado. 10 mins to Old Town. We hope to be able to come back again some day!

Very convenient to all activities during our trip.

I received compliments on selecting the North Park Beauty for our trip. The property was central to our daughter’s graduation, dinner afterwards and bakery for the grad cake. It was nice to spend time with family in one location and not worry about where to go to spend time relaxing and talking. The furnishings were clean and comfortable with plenty of room to relax.

North Park Beauty

My sister, daughter, grand daughter and I recently stayed in this lovely home. We were welcomed by Steven, our host, who walked us through the house and also gave us some great recommendations on places to eat, walk and sight see. He has prepared an excellent booklet with extensive information about San Diego and the North Park neighborhood which we found very helpful. The house is spacious, and comfortable and appointed with everything a traveler might need. The back yard is great for a child to romp! The beds are comfortable and the kitchen has everything you need to cook at home (although all those great neighborhood restaurants do tempt!) We loved the proximity to Balboa Park and the zoo and so many of San Diego's sights. We were also delighted by the neighborhood in which the home is situated. North Park is charming, hip, lively, walkable. We would love to visit again!

Great House and Location in San Diego!

My family and I rented this house for our first trip to San Diego. It is a fully remodelled older house will all the necessary amenities. The owner (Steve) met us for check in and was most helpful explaining the workings of the house, the neighbourhood and city. He also provided us with a very thorough and helpful city guide that he prepared himself to review and refer to on own. We had absolutely no issues during our week long stay. The best feature of the house is its central location to the city. Very close to Balboa Park and a short drive to all of the locations we also visited such as San Diego St. University, downtown and Coronado Island, and shopping and dinning areas. I would recommend this house to anyone and if we ever return to San Diego again, we would stay here again.
