Gatlinburg Getaway - Less Than It Seems
Pros:
The Location is great, 10 min. to Gatlinburg and to the Great Smokey NP.
Cons:
This is an older house in need of renovation and a clean out. The entire building has a slight lean to it (lay a crayon or ball down on the porch and it will run off, every time). Over time, this also makes for uncomfortable sleeping.
The driveway is extremely steep, would be very hard for sedans to climb especially if wet.
This carpeted areas of this house had not been cleaned prior to our arrival. There were French fry bits on the floor in the master, Doritos crumbs and bag in the guest room, goldfish crackers and leaves, etc in the living room.
The nominally nice view of the mountains has a bunch of power lines running right across it that were air-brushed down in the listing photos. That was extra disappointing.
The stair access to the bedrooms (below) is right between the kitchen and the front door. It's truly bizarre design, ugly and inconvenient. The stairs open to a non-enclosed washing machine area (good luck doing laundry and sleeping at the same time).
Also, there are no fans in either bedroom (though there are in the kitchen) so keep in mind for warmer months.
All of these deficiencies would have been easier to stomach, maybe even kinda funny, if we weren't still paying premium rates for a 2-bedroom. This listing should be half that. Really disappointing experience.
