When you are from the area you know where the best views are and we found the pristine property just in time!! Its gorgeous and National Geographic has been here taking pictures. Right in our front yard!

Our family of three stayed here in late December for a ski trip and were underwhelmed. We felt that the descriptions - "stunning," "every comfort of home" and "3 bedroom" - were disingenuous given that there is no washing machine or dryer (not ideal for a ski/snow vacation with kids), no hairdryer and no dishwasher. The bedding consists of a fitted sheet and quilt, no top sheet. And the curtains on the windows could use updating. While the cabin was clean inside and did not smell of smoke, there were cigarette butts piled at the entrance. The cabin itself is cute but the layout is a bit odd - the "third bedroom" is not actually a bedroom - it is the open/upstairs loft area with some single beds around the main couch/TV area, no window, door or closet.
The location is pretty but potential guests should be warned it takes a full 30 minutes to drive to Jay Peak. The house itself is located on a remote road that was very icy during our stay. The driveway is also pretty steep to get up the house. They plowed it but definitely recommend 4wdr.
We love Jay Peak and really appreciated that we were able to bring our dog to the cabin but were overall disappointed with our stay. We reached out to the owner to talk through all of these issues and they did say they are considering a washer dryer. We ended up leaving two days early because a big storm was coming and we were worried we'd get snowed in and trapped there. When we spoke with the owner regarding the inaccuracies in the listing description we were offered another stay at a later date. A refund of some sort would have been a bit more appropriate given we paid top dollar for our stay.
Overall, we're bummed and want to make sure others set their expectations appropriately.
Surprisingly spacious and comfortable cabin once you get inside! Clean and well laid out floor plan. My family including our pet dog Juno really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. Three enthusiastic thumbs up (and one paw of course)!!!
We found this beautiful little cottage after trying to book a place for our family at Jay Peak condos. It was just the right size for the 9 (4 adults, 5 kids) of us and was close enough to jay (about 15-20 mins) to be a great place to rest after a day of skiing. The owners were very flexible with our departure day which allowed us to get in a couple more runs. Will hopefully come back soon.
We had a small bumpy start with not being able to locate the cabin easily and then with accessing it once we found it, the door code via the VRBO/HomeAway app was incorrect. After an 8 hour drive, it was very late when we arrived so we were unable to reach the owners. We were emailed a pdf that had cabin info but since we also had cabin info on the app, we didn't read it before. But, thankfully, we read it when we were at a loss, and there was a new key code. Once was got in, everything was perfect. Had everything we needed for everyone. Was very clean. PERFECT location with a stunning view. Walls are very thin so there is zero audio privacy but for our group wasn't a huge deal. We were there to snowboard and for our purposes, it was awesome. Thank you SO much for great accommodations! We'll be back next year! :)
Spent three nights at the Black Bear Cabin while skiing at Jay Peak during Feb 2015. Cabin was as nice as advertised. Very clean, cozy and warm! (crazy cold weather with -18 one morning!) We had four adults and four kids. Kids loved the loft and spent entire time up there. Beds were great.
My only suggestion would be to add a few things to the kitchen - A colander (pasta is a big ski dinner favorite), a large pasta pot (we couldn't find the lobster pot advertised) and a few more dish towels.
We would definitely recommend the cabin!
Lastly, the check-in/check-out process was incredibly easy - loved the VRBO app and notifications.
Thank you for allow us to enjoy your cabin this past weekend! My husband and my self were speechless to the view, and the open living space made it feel so big inside compared to the outside look of a cozy cabin. Our children loved the huge yard they played in the snow for hours! Thank you Stacey for making check in so smooth. We will be sure to book our Thanksgiving here next year too! The McFarlands
