Loved Loved Loved everything about this property! First time for the both of us staying somewhere where you are totally away from everyone! Kind of enjoyed it! Totally impressed by how clean everything was and down to the detail of something you might need and forgot to bring. I consider myself a city girl so it was my first time in a canoe and kayaking by myself. So much fun at the fire pit roasting marshmallows. My husband loved all the TV's throughout the house so he never missed a pitch when watching the O's.
We did go to Wisteria Vineyards and talked to the roosters and chickens. Realized once inside the Luray Caverns that I have been there before. Go figure.....nothing has changed. (You will realize the meaning to that statement once you get there..hahaha!) We did North-South Skyline Drive and walked the rolling ocean clouds to Stony Man. The sun wanted so bad to come out. One the way back down Skyline we saw elk and a black bear on the side of the road watching cars drive past. TOTALLY COOL!! We didn't eat out much but did go to the Hawksbill Diner (cash only), awesome service and the Dubliner Celtic Pub for potato and leek soup, yummy!!
Becky, thank you for being such a great hostess and making this trip so wonderful for us! Hope to come back soon!

A quiet setting for the whole family, campfires, playing in the river, watching the deer play.
This log cabin home was the perfect fit for our family of 5. We divided our stay between nature (Shenandoah) and city life (DC). It was the perfect balance to a family vacation. The cabin was in a remote, peaceful place with easy access to Shenandoah National Park. My teen boys really enjoyed kayaking, sitting around the campfire and roasting marshmallows. The cabin was well stocked with all the essentials for cooking simple meals. We would definitely recommend this cabin to family and friends.
Considering we stayed in another of their 5 vacation rentals we knew this home would be above and beyond in detail and decor. There was three of us, my husband, me and our 25 yr old son, and our little Bentley dog. The layout was adequate for our needs for three nights. The home is gorgeous inside and out. Laid out on a beautiful piece of land. The only drawback, as they stated in their description was that the river was not in view. The walk was easy to get to though. Basically you are at the base of a mountain that is across the river bank. Very pretty! Nice area for relaxing down at the river.
The area around the house provides plenty of "playroom" for games and riding bikes, etc. Deer were abundant in the evenings as the groundhog was in the back of the lot. The HUGE deck was great! Even though very windy that weekend, it was still nice. Partially covered too as we watched snow flurries!
Only reason for not a 5 star rating was basically two things. The hot tub was nice, but very cloudy the whole time. Even though I am sure it was sanitized, it was never clear. The owner did have the maintenance man come check it out, but not alot could be done. The locks on the cover were broke off, and with the high winds, were had to pick it up off the deck and put it back on. The other issue, which we had in the other home last year, were the vertical blinds in the living area. They would not work correctly, pieces were missing and provided, no privacy (of course no one was around, but still, should be replaced. Make sure you bring any spices or food prep wraps. Last home we stayed at they owned, these were supplied so we didn't bring any. Had to run back out and buy those. Of well, no big deal.
All in all... a great place to stay.
March 2016- We had a great week at this property. It was more than expected, very clean, well stocked, top of the line appliances, televisions, hot tub and more. Canoes and kayaks were great and location to river a plus. For a relaxing family vacation to be outdoors and enjoy one another, this is the place. We will be back next year!!!!
