About the property

7 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, sleeps 17.

Complete with old wooden beams and brilliant sunrise and sunset views. It is a wonderful house for large families, groups of friends or anyone who simply likes lots of space, airy rooms, scrubbed pine floors and country living by the sea. Perfectly located at the end of a quiet private road, you can relax to your hearts content. Watch seagulls wheeling high overhead, inhale the wonderful mixed fragrance of pine needles and salty sea air, listen to bird songs or stroll down to the shore in Hulls Cove to look for sea glass and other treasures that the sea has left behind. Acadia National Park is just down the road. Hike or bike the scenic carriage roads and trails, climb a mountain, go sea kayaking or walk over to secluded Lake Wood for a swim.

May we suggest you also take a look at The Orchard House, our adjoining property #3752195

Guestbook comments from the manager

This group of Alaskan gals (and 2 guys) were constantly commenting on how much they love this house. All the little details were noticed. The towels were plush, the beds comfy, the bathrooms plentiful, the deck sublime, the deer adorable. we had a wondeful time here. Thank you!

Wonderful, roomy, sun-filled farmhouse perfect for our large family

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 10 stayed at Cider House Farm for a week in June. The house was perfect for our needs. The large bedrooms had comfortable beds and nice linens. There were plenty of extra towels and even some special towels for the lake which is less than a mile away and a great place to take a dip. Lots of little extras made the place so easy to enjoy. The wrap around deck gets sun all through the day. Large lawn areas gave room for some fun yard games. The place was the cleanest rental we have ever stayed at. Trish was available whenever we needed anything. And the location so close to Hull's Cove Visitor Center allowed us to take advantage of easy parking right next to an entrance to the carriage trails which we biked on every day.

Cider House, Hulls Cove was an absolute treat

  • 2 of 5

Our family of 9 stayed at Cider House for a week and loved it. The house was really well equipped for a varied age group and all had a great time.

We loved the close proximity to the coast and Acadia National Park.

Patricia Ropp was so pleasant and helpful

We all would have liked to spend more time. There is so much to do and one week should have been extended but our busy family couldn't swing any more time.

Maybe one day......... Beryl Ibbotson

Would do it again

  • 5 of 5

Everyone in our group of 14 enjoyed this house. Truly clean and very relaxing!! It was a good thing for grandkids to have the farmhouse feel and have the wooded area to play and pretend in. I think my favorite part was the fresh air feel-all the windows opened and we definitely did that either all day or in the evenings. The breeze came thru and made for great sleeping.

Trish was SO pleasant to deal with.

Anyone having doubts—don’t—Stay at Cider House.

Owner's Response: We had been in touch so often Martha that it was like welcoming an old friend! The grandchildren were delightful, it was such a treat to meet them and know that they were enjoying all the sights, smells and adventures that our own children grew up with. We would love to see you come back again and again.

Perfect Vacation Rental!

  • 5 of 5

This home is the perfect vacation rental for a large group! We totally enjoyed our few days celebrating a graduation and family get-together. This place was by far the best rental we've enjoyed to date, and we've been to a lot of places! It was spacious and beautifully furnished. Everyone said the beds were super comfortable. Everything you could imagine needing was there. (I usually pack a few things that aren't always available at rentals - like a teapot and a good paring knife for examples - but this place had it all!) The owner was so pleasant to deal with. We called to report a small issue that we didn't even mind dealing with - just wanted her to know for future rentals; but she came right over to check it out and had it taken care of promptly. The location of the property is ideal for outings to Acadia, and it is private/quiet for time just spent at the house. Our entire group (14 of us!) hated to leave. Thank you, Trish, for sharing your wonderful home and helping us create some great memories!

Great house which accomodates a large group

  • 4 of 5

It is a great house, with plenty of rooms to both bring people together yet also find places where you can have a bit of quiet if you are with a large group. Rooms were very clean and the showers were lovely with plenty of hot water available. It is situated on a quiet small road, very close to a park entrance and about 3 miles from downtown Bar Harbor. Trish, the owner was very responsive every step of the way -from the booking to requests when we were there. The only reason I did not give it a 5 star rating is that the kitchen needed some attention. For example, one of the surface elements on the stove top was not working, we had some problems with the toaster heating, and we only had one medium sized saucepan and a few smaller ones to cook with the first evening we arrived (Trish got us larger saucepans the following day).

Owner's Response: We loved having you all Nuala! Large family get togethers make for wonderful memories and we want every visit to be absolutely perfect! To that end we double check all the little household details before our guests arrive and if during the visit something stops working or is not exactly as expected, we immediately look into it. We would have gladly taken a look at the toaster and burner if we had known there was an issue with either.

Hulls Cove is a quiet and beautiful little cove just 3 miles from downtown Bar Harbor. The sun rises over the water and the Porcupine islands, each morning; the sky and sea delight the eye. Some days the islands are draped in fog and the water looks like silver. Other days the water sparkles like diamonds and countless shades of blue. It is ever changing and always breathtaking. At the Hulls Cove General Store you can pick up coffee, a newspaper and grocery items or board the free Island Explorer shuttle bus. The Chart Room Restaurant offers delicious dining right on the water or pop into Peppers for pizza and calzones.

Lake Wood is just up the road. It is part of Acadia and a great place to swim. Bullfrogs like it too!
