What makes this cabin unique

This property is well structured with a complete fenced in yard which is idea for children and anyone traveling with a pet. We do offer a pet package $50 flat rate for two dogs which includes Food and water bowls, pet bed, and endless treat jar. We have made exceptions in the past for three dogs however the pet fee then goes to $100. The fee is applied to a special cabin dehairing cleaning, flea and tick cabin bombing and yard clearing. Of course we ask each guest to clean up after their dog. We are animal lovers and pet owners ourselves and know the challenges to traveling with a pet or pets. We also in cases of more than two dogs take an extra security deposit. In over a year renting we have never had one problem with a pet and have returned 100% of security deposits for pet owners.

Guestbook comments from the manager

What a wonderful place to getaway! The cabin couldn't have been cozier with its little fireplace and huge fenced-in yard for the doggies. Adorable, lakeside decor and well-equipped with all the essentials. We spent some time on the screened-in front porch just enjoying the scenery. Wendy, the property manager was so pleasant and helpful and Elizabeth, the owner was gracious and flexible when we decided to extend our stay an extra evening. An absolutely serene and relaxing place to escape to!!! Would return in a heartbeat!

Rustic Family Getaway

  • 4 of 5

We spent a weekend at this cabin which is nestled in a wooded area at the top of a mountain (a tree-covered cliff on one side which provides beautiful views) in the Lake Raystown area. Our family consists of myself, my husband, an eleven year old son, a 17 year old son, and our two small dogs (we have an adult daughter that didn't come with us this year). We have rented several various cabins in the Lake Raystown area over the past several years. This cabin has extra amenities that most rentals in this same price range are lacking. The washer and dryer and fenced-in yard were the extras that drew us to this particular property. The interior is nicely decorated (with a lake/beachy) theme and is clean and well-maintained. The beds are clean and comfortable and are pre-made with sheets, pillows, and quilts. Towels and washcloths are also provided (first cabin we have rented that provides that). Our dogs were free to roam around the large fenced-in yard while we played yard games, had campfires, and ate some meals outside (it rained a lot). It has a screened-in porch but we were greeted by the biggest hornet/bee we have ever seen upon arrival, so spending time on the porch wasn't an option for us (bug spray is provided though). The road leading up to the property is somewhat tricky because it is dirt (mud when it rains) and deeply rutted, but we managed. It may be a little more difficult for smaller cars to negotiate, but that should be expected with any secluded, mountainous cabin. When a problem with a utility occurred the owners where quick to send someone to repair the issue. The lack of cable t.v. and phone service (AT&T was sporadic) actually was a blessing in that more time was spent doing other activities (playing cards, playing games (provided by the owners), reading books, etc.). I would recommend this cabin to any small family that is looking for a rustic and private family vacation, yet still want to be close to Lake Raystown.

This cabin was the perfect weekend getaway for two couples. Everything was well-maintained and comfortable, and the fenced yard was nice for our dog to run in!

Great escape

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was extremely clean, as other reviewers have indicated. The kitchen was well stocked and met all of our needs for cooking a Thanksgiving meal. The fenced yard is a bonus and made the area surrounding the cabin a great place for our dog to roam and stay safe during hunting season.

We were able to use our Verizon-serviced phones as hot spots for internet access and were able to stream some football games, although at times the streaming left a little to be desired. There is a great DVD selection and some games if you need additional indoor activities.

It is an easy drive to Raystown Lake, Altoona, Hollidaysburg, and other cool towns.

Adorable and cozy cabin! Perfect for a weekend getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We rented this property for a girls weekend trip and it was perfect! The cabin was very cozy and had everything we needed! We loved sitting outside in the screened in porch to drink our morning coffee! This would be a perfect rental if you have a dog because the property was fenced around the cabin. We will definitely be renting this again for our yearly getaway!
