About the property

Wonderful Log Cabin With A Loft And Hot Tub In A Private Mountain Setting

Nestled in the Smoky Mountains, this private cabin with loft is perfect for the family get away. The Family Cabin is located on Howells at the Moon Farm, which is a 13 acre old tobacco farm. The master bedroom has a king size bed with luxury linens and a fireplace to set a romantic mood. The loft has two twin beds, so bring the kids for a great family getaway. PS2 and games are included. The kitchen is fully stocked, and even has spices and oil to cook up a great meal. The living area has plenty of seating and a large, flat screen TV with Roku, antennae, and free Netflix movies. We offer free WiFi, as well. Your cabin comes with a huge front porch with rockers, so soak up the sounds of nature that surrounds you in the forest. The hot tub and fire pit will provide plenty of hours of rest and relaxation. This property is unique; although you are tucked on the side of a mountain with plenty of privacy, you are minutes from a grocery store and all the amenities the area has to offer.

About Judy Howell

John and Judy Howell were working for the government in the DC area, and got married in Maggie Valley. They fell in love with the area and began to look for property. They feel completely blessed to have found this beautiful slice of heaven, which they named Howells at the Moon Farm.

Judy Howell purchased this cabin in 2012

Why Judy Howell chose Maggie Valley/Waynesville Area

This property is so unique. It was an old farm and in the same family until early 2000. It's on 13 acres, surrounded by meadows and forests, with spectacular mountain views. You will feel like you are isolated in nature, but are in fact minutes away from towns, shopping and activities. It is, truly, the best of both worlds. This property has hiking trails, long range mountain views, mountain streams, and privacy.

What makes this cabin unique

From the front porch of the cabin, you can sit with a glass of wine or hot cup of cocoa, and gaze at the mist in the woods and hear the leaves rustling. Just listen to the sounds of nature and watch the fireflies dance in the evening. You will forget how hectic life can be when everything here is so tranquil. The cabin is cozy and comfortable; it's charm and hominess is to be enjoyed by couples, honeymooners, or folks looking to get away. The bedroom is comfy, outfitted in soft bed linens. After a day spent hiking or shopping, you will look forward to snuggling up in your nest. The living room has games and cards, but also has TV and wireless internet for times when you want to 'plug back in'. You will love staying here; it's like your home away from home. There are streams on the property, as well as an old barn. The property will delight you and renew your spirit.

Amazing weekend!

What a great little getaway! Had an amazing time staying at the cabin, very clean and comfortable. The atmosphere makes you feel at home. My kids loved the loft and the hot tub. Plenty of privacy and very peaceful. We love skiing so being so close to Cataloochee was a big plus! We were sad to leave but will definitely be back!

The stay was fabulous. The Howell's are wonderful people. They were extremely helpful in showing me around the area and providing very helpful information about the surrounding area. They are very friendly and helpful people. The cabins were extremely comfortable. It was like my home away from home. The property was clean and well maintained. The stay was extremely nice. I would definitely stay at Howells at the Moon again in the future. To anyone going, it is well worth the stay. Waynesville is a very charming and wonderful small town. I would highly encourage you to stay.

Please be advised that if you are checking in the same day a prior guest checks out, the hot tub will not be up to temperature that evening. We drain, clean and refill the hot tub between each guest, as required by NC law, and same day turn overs are not enough time to get the tub up to temperature. It will be hot by the next morning.
