About the property

Private Mountain Cabin with loft, year round hot tub, stream and pet friendly

Nestled in the Smoky Mountains, this private cabin with loft is perfect for couples, honeymooners and folks looking to get away. The Family Cabin is located on Howells at the Moon Farm, which is a 13 acre old tobacco farm. The master bedroom has a king size bed with luxury linens and a fireplace to set a romantic mood. The loft has two twin beds, so bring the kids for a great family getaway. PS2 and games are included. The kitchen is fully stocked, and even has spices and oil to cook up a great meal. The living area has plenty of seating and a large, flat screen TV with Roku TV and free Netflix and free wi-fi. Your cabin comes with a huge front porch with rockers, so soak up the sounds of nature that surrounds you in the forest. The year round hot tub and fire pit will provide plenty of hours of rest and relaxation. This property is unique; although you are tucked on the side of a mountain with plenty of privacy, you are minutes from a grocery store and all the amenities the area has to offer. We are also pet friendly and have trails on the property to walk your furry friend.

About Judy Howell

John and Judy Howell were working for the government in the DC area, and got married in Maggie Valley. They fell in love with the area and began to look for property. They feel completely blessed to have found this beautiful slice of heaven, which they named Howells at the Moon Farm.

Judy Howell purchased this cabin in 2012

Why Judy Howell chose Waynesville

This property is so unique. It was an old farm and in the same family until early 2000. It's on 13 acres, surrounded by meadows and forests, with spectacular mountain views. You will feel like you are isolated in nature, but are in fact minutes away from towns, shopping and activities. It is, truly, the best of both worlds. This property has hiking trails, long range mountain views, mountain streams, and privacy.

What makes this cabin unique

From the front porch of the cabin, you can sit with a glass of wine or hot cup of cocoa, and gaze at the mist in the woods and hear the leaves rustling. Just listen to the sounds of nature and watch the fireflies dance in the evening. You will forget how hectic life can be when everything here is so tranquil. The cabin is cozy and comfortable; it's charm and hominess is to be enjoyed by couples, honeymooners, or folks looking to get away. The bedroom is comfy, outfitted in soft bed linens. After a day spent hiking or shopping, you will look forward to snuggling up in your nest. The living room has games and cards, but also has Roku TV and wireless internet for times when you want to 'plug back in'. You will love staying here; it's like your home away from home. There are streams on the property, and we are chicken and bee keepers and grow our own produce. The property will delight you and renew your spirit. Breathe in the fresh mountain air and feel yourself relax.

From the minute you pull in the drive it's so relaxing! Everything we needed was there!! The hot tub was perfect for when we arrived!! Close to town and very clean, towels were fluffy and the bed was like sleeping on a cloud!! Would definitely recommend this place to friends!!

Beautiful place

  • 5 of 5

Im trying to give 5 stars but it keeps saying 3.5 when I'm done. Everything was great. The cabin was well stocked. We had everything we needed. There is another cabin close to this one but the way it's set up its very private. The deck and hot tub face the creek and away from the other cabin so it feels nice & secluded. Hot tub could have been hotter & stronger but that in no way hindered our visit

Awesome Place!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I had a lovely time at this little cabin. It's only 5 minutes from civilization yet nice and private. It's in a great central location making it easy to get to all of your destinations no matter what you have planned for the day. Everything is provided with the cabin except for food. Wi-Fi is excellent! The only complaint that we had (and it was really no big deal for us) was the hot water for the shower really didn't get very hot. There is a small water heater so you have to take short showers and spread them out a several minutes apart. Again, no big deal for us, but if you have kids it could be a bit problematic so just giving a heads up. Worst case scenario, the kids take a dip in the hot tub and let the chlorine disinfect them. LOL Seriously though, this is really a great place to stay and we would definitely come back again!

Sincerely,

Brent

Good things come in small packages

  • 5 of 5

Don’t let the size fool you, this cabin has everything you need for a relaxing mountain getaway! My two boys and girl (ages 4-9) loved the loft. The hot tub was used daily for R&R and we loved the provided corn hole and firewood for a lounge down day on a nice low 70s April afternoon! WiFi and Netflix definitely a nice bonus! Would recommend and would stay again!

The Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of staying at the Family Cabin for a nice, cozy weekend!

We arrived to the mountains in a cloud of mist, and found this cabin to be the perfect location for a peaceful, quiet getaway from the hustle and bustle of our daily lives. This cabin offered everything from scenic views and serene landscapes to a spacious hot tub and well kept cabin.

The cabin had everything we needed for our two night stay! And the downtown and surrounding areas offered much to see and do!

We can't wait to return and are already considering dates to visit this spring!

Judy, thank you for your hospitality! We are excited to return!
