This cozy cottage was built in the 1800's and recently rehabbed. Quaint but eclectic, this home offers tin ceilings, an exposed brick chimney, original pine floors, art glass windows, and tons of natural light.
The first bedroom has a queen bed with a half bath attached.
The second bedroom is actually a sunroom with a queen-size canopy bed. It has its own sink area, as well as access to the outdoors. Three large skylights welcome the morning sunshine.
Children will love the loft, with its two tented twin beds. Also, there is a queen size sleeper-mattress on the floor for further sleeping, as well as video viewing.
Off the loft is a small screened-in porch that opens onto a 20' x 20' deck.
The kitchen and living room combine to make one large room. Food and fellowship are always a winning combination.
The laundry room is available for your convenience.
As a flight attendant, I stay in quality hotels almost every week... so cleanliness is very important to me. If you call and my phone is off, I'm probably on the airplane or in Germany--But I will call you back in 1-3 days--or email me, I'm often connected to the internet.
I moved to Petersburg in 1998 for the country setting, which was still only 25 minutes from downtown Cincinnati, and 13 miles from the Cincinnati airport (CVG).
Petersburg has only about 300 residents, not counting the cows at the one end of town. It's not unusual to hear the clop-clop-clop of horses' hooves as they ride down the street.
The first time I drove into town, the winding road reminded me of driving in the Italian Alps. Since I travel for a living, I was delighted to find my own 'Mayberry' with a touch of Italy.
Deborah purchased this cottage in 2003
The vacation home is located one block from the community center, which has a playground available to all, as well as basketball hoops and a ball diamond. There's a small park on the river's edge, as well as access to the river itself for kayaking, fishing, canoeing, etc. Our tiny post office is 2 blocks from the house, and if you like walking, it's exactly one mile around town.
6 miles away is the historic Dinsmore Homestead, and across from Dinsmore is Middle Creek Park (Boone County), which is great for hiking. About 13 miles away is Rabbit Hash, KY, which has a wonderful old general store. (Google any of these attractions for more info.)
This was our first VRBO type experience. We loved our stay at The Cottage. It provided us just the right amount of room for our group of 6. The loft was a hit for the teens. The fully equipped kitchen allowed us to save money on eating out by preparing our own meals during our stay! There is still much to see and do in the Cincinnati area, should we return we will definitely look at renting one of Deborah’s houses.
Clean and well stocked for the most part. Very close to creation museum.
We loved The Cottage. It was very clean and very roomy for our family of eight. We will definitely stay in one of Deborah's Guesthouses again.
Very cute and older shotgun style house, we enjoyed our stay very much. This home was perfect for the 4 of us and would have easily accommodated more. The Ark Encounter and Creation Museum are a must do!
The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is for the number of people it sleeps it only has one shower. That plus low water pressure hurt my impression a tiny bit. There isn't much town here but the little pantry a couple blocks away is a hidden gem. Fantastic food! At first glance you wouldn't think so but the charm is on the inside. It's the same with the house. Very large on the inside, very clean, comfortable and cozy. We can't wait to stay here again. We love the house and it served us well as a jumping off point for Perfect North Slopes! Thank you for your hospitality and sharing your lovely home.
We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay; plenty of room, beautifully decorated and all the amenities you could want or need. Deborah is always a pleasure to work with. Her properties are always impeccably clean and maintained.
When we arrived the house was heated to a very comfortable temperature and a few lights were left on for us to see how to get around when we arrived.
This is the second of Deborah's properties we have stayed at and would strongly recommend them to anyone looking for a "home away from home" atmosphere.
We have made many unforgettable family memories at these houses.
Thank you Deborah and thanks to your staff for making sure your guests arrive to a clean and very efficient vacation experience.
Located 3 blocks from Ohio River access, 5 miles from Creation Museum.
